Hi everyone! I'm sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find it easily. What are the potential views for an AKV studio? Is it the same as standard, where you can get savannah, pool or parking lot? I just booked one for my parents and wanted to get the facts straight. Thanks!

It depends on the "booking level" of studio you booked. Here are the potential views broken down by booking level:
  • Value studios face the Sunset Savanna, the pool area and the parking lot. None of the dedicated Value studios face the parking lot so if you booked a Dedicated Value Studio and if that is respected by the front desk then you will have a savanna or pool view.
  • Standard View studios in Jambo House are all pool view. (The Standard View villas in Kidani Village will have a view of the pool, a garden or a parking lot.)
  • Savanna View studios face one of the three savannas.
  • Concierge studios face the pool or the Sunset Savanna.

This might make it a bit easier. I marked up this map of Jambo House to show the location of the Value villas (lime green), Standard View villas (yellow), Concierge villas (pink), and Grand Villas (orange blobs). Everything else is in the Savanna View category. The studios are scattered throughout the resort. As I mentioned previously there are no dedicated studios in that small section of parking lot view Value villas but there are two lockoff studios in that section.

We stayed in a value studio for a night earlier this month. We were in the first wing on the left (lime green) overlooking the area marked with a number 3 on the map above. We weren't expecting a savannah view so it was a nice surprise.

That map is great, Lisa. Thanks! I didn't even think to ask for a Dedicated Value studio... I was so happy that any value was available. Now I see the view would possibly make a difference. Are there any other advantages to having a dedicated studio? I see my reservation does not say "dedicated." The room will be for two adults, and the MS rep did say she would include a request that my parent's room (the value) be located near ours (which is a savannah view). I wonder if it is worthwhile to call MS back and request a dedicated value. :confused3

We just got back yesterday from Disney. We had booked a value studio for three nights transfering to a 1bdrm value with parkinglot views. We were supprised to find out that both of the rooms we receied had a savana view! it was really cool being able to watch the animals in the mornings as we were getting ready to go to the parks. As far as your question with the couch and chair. yes you can but i would move the chair out so you can get to it. Have a great trip.

Are the Value studios just smaller than the norm? Is that really the only difference, aside from the view? Thanks!

How was the view of the animals? I thought I read that the Sunset Savanna was the worst savanna to view the animals. Were they out often? Could you see construction of Kadani? Is there any other tidbits you can share about these value studio savanna views? Any pictures of room or balcony view?
Thanks.

Hey Lisa, what are those villas that face the parking lot on the right side of your map(in front of the pool side) not marked in green? Are there only dedicated value 1 and 2 BR on the left side facing the parking lot that is marked in green?

The view of the animals was great and they were out often. The only construction we could see was the crane in the distance.

I will say that the value studios are small. Now my family of four has no problem with being together. We have often reserved studios to get more "bang for our buck." However, we were really squished. It was fine for one night but I could see it causing problems if staying longer. The biggest factor was where to put the suitcases. I wound up placing mine in front of the door. We usually unpack but this was just a layover. However, there was limited room for clothing as well.

I'm not trying to scare anyone off of the value studios though. I am a firm believer that you need to experience these things for yourself! Maybe you don't pack as many shoes as me and will find the amount of room space to be more than adequate!

I'll try to post pics if I can figure out how!

The Value studios are 316 sq ft. The Standard View, Savanna View and Concierge Studios are 365 sq ft. The rooms are the same width but the Values are about 3 to 3-1/2 feet shorter so all the furnishings are squished together more tightly in the Values. If I remember correctly, people have reported there is a little bench with two storage drawers in the non-Value studios that you don't get in the Values (due to lack of space) so there is more storage space in the non-Values.

Hey Lisa, what are those villas that face the parking lot on the right side of your map(in front of the pool side) not marked in green?
Those are AKL hotel rooms that were not converted into DVC villas.

Are there only dedicated value 1 and 2 BR on the left side facing the parking lot that is marked in green?
That area houses two 2BR lockoffs. A 2BR lockoff can be rented as a 2BR or can be "locked off" and rented as a 1BR and a studio.

Jambo House does not have any dedicated 1BRs or 2BRs. There are many dedicated studios throughout the 5th floor. Kidani Village will have some dedicated 2BRs.

I'm still confused about one thing... is there an advantage (other than the potential view) to having a dedicated value studio vs. a value studio? Does it offer less storage?

a dedicated does not have the door between it and 1-bedroom - so it will be quieter.

I think there was something these - a closet for the cleaning stuff?

You got some good pictures of the sunset savanna! I love the Ankoli Cattle. When we stayed at AKL, one of them slept right outside our balcony all night long.
