Hi,

I just wanted to share this with anyone in the same boat as me and my family. My DD whose going to be 2 on our next trip to WDW in December was terrified of the Characters on our last trip this past December when she was 14 months.

So, to get her more prepared, I bought 3 Sing A Long Video Tapes that are wonderful!!!

1. It's A Small World at Disneyland with many Characters and lots of the rides shown.

2. Beach Party At WDW with many Characters again including Ariel and you can see a couple of the hotels, the Poly luau, the Electric Water Pagent and the water parks.

3. The Twelve Days of Christmas (I think this one is hard to find; I got it through Half.com in mint condition). This one is great if you like to go to WDW at Christmas time. It's got all the Characters and is NOT a cartoon.

4. Then there's Happy Haunting - Party at Disneyland...I don't have this one because my 4 year old rented it and was so scared and doesn't ever want to see it again, but it might be good for people who go during Halloween.

5. Campout at WDW....I really don't know much about this one...sorry. I'll bet those who love camping or staying at Ft. Wilderness would love it...

6. New - Flick's Musical Adventure at Animal Kingdom. This movie is the first one I bought and we do NOT like it. Hardly any characters at all. Very disappointing, but if you LOVE Animal Kingdom and it's your favorite park, you may like it cause it shows lots of the park, just no characters except at the very beginning.

Well, I hope I've help someone out. I'm sure there are more video's that I don't know about.

I agree these are great!

I like the Beach Party one the best! I know this has given my DD ( 2 1/2) a much better idea of what to expect when seeing characters because she can see their relation in size to real kids. We also have the Disneyland and Campout ones. I just got the Christmas one but haven't watched it yet.

Great idea to post these!! These have been our favorite videos for years now...our kids love them!!!!

We always watch when we are building up the excitement for going to WDW!

Let's go surfing now, everybody's learning how, come on a safari with me!

just watched the beach one twice today! My daughter loves when Ariel comes on!

Do you have a Chuck E Cheese near you? You could expose your DD to the character(s) there to get her used to the size. If she can handle THAT mouse, she should be ready.

Yeah, we've already been to Disney and she was terrified. Then this past June 30 we went to Sesame Place and she was very afraid of Elmo even though she normally loves him. She was ok when he was far away, it was when he got close for a picture.

I'm hoping the more she watches these videos with kids interacting with Mickey, she'll do even better.

But your right, a good test would be going to Chuck E Cheese and see her reaction to him, although, he wouldn't be a familiar face to her.

Thanks.

Yes we watch the Disneyland fun and Animal Kingdom one all the time.

The AK one was a bit of a dissapointment.

I'll have to get the Beach Party one!

We leave in 26 days and this would be a nice treat to pass the time!

wdwobsessed, definitely get the Beach One. It's as good as the Camping, Disneyland and Halloween ones. I agree with you, the AK one does not live up to the others..I think we've watched it twice.

These were the first videos my DS would sit still and watch and she wore the Disneyland one out and we had to find a new one on ebay! She even knew all the dance steps to "Walkin' right Down the Middle of Main Street!"
Her first trip to WDW was this past June and she had just turned 2. She had NO fear of the characters and would run right up to them and throw her arms around them. I think it was in part to having watched these movies so much. On the other hand, her 4 year old brother didn't like them when he was 2 and still doesn't at 4. I guess in the end it all depends on the child.... (but the movies sure don't hurt :) )

we have the Disneyland Paris one (sounds similiar to the Disneyland one - if it has Walking down the middle of main st USA on it) which is great - my dd was not worried about the characters at all, (she's 3.5)

The only minus is that the Grim Grinning Ghosts is very scary and put my daughter off the entire tape for a while, now she enjoys it all except she worries all the way through It's a small world, and then makes me fast forward through Grim Grinning Ghosts. It even put her off Its a small world in WDW, although once she'd been coaxed on she was fine (I think she thought it would lead straight into the haunted house, just like on the tape)

Another idea is to get the vacation planning video from Disney. It shows lots of characters and all the parks. My kids (3 1/2 & 20 mo) love watching it. I would also recommend "practicing" at Chuck E. Cheese's. My 20 mo. was scared of the Sesame Place characters just 2 months ago but just last week he gave Chuck E. a high five. So maybe we have a chance for a Mickey hug in November?

We also have the Disneyland Sing-a-long video and now I will look for the beach one!!

Can someone describe the Campout at WDW one? Where is it taped and are there a lot of characters? Good songs?

Thanks!

We have the Disneyland Sing-a-long and the Beach party tapes for my 22 month old. She loves the Disneyland one, dances non-stop. When Grim Grinning Ghosts comes on she says "spooky" but is not too upset. I personally don't like the beach party one that much. I think the kids are way more hammy and obnoxious that the other tape. My daughter doesn't like the part with the pirates, either. I hope she doesn't get scared on Peter Pan when we go in Sept.

We love the Sing-A-Long videos. My daughter used to watch Disneyland Fun all the time. Now she can't get enough of Beach Party. Also, now she goes around the house asking for "Dinney, Dinney" and "Mickeys".

I have a whole bunch (thanks to MIL & yard sales) but have only watched the campout one so far. My 10 month old likes it, but I think it is a little long for him. Lots of characters throughout, decent songs. It has FW & river country & discovery island. But I can't compare it to the others yet!

We also watch the planning video :)

My 2 1/2 y.o. was frightened of the characters also. We went to a character breakfast before going to a park. She was scared at first but it was a good place to take the time with her and get close to the characters. We got some great photos and video of her kissing Minnie on the nose. She had a great time and wasn't scared after that. She also enjoyed the princess breakfast wheree the characters were less intimidating.

We have the Disneyland singalong and have just about worn it out!!! Kids are really funny, my 2 1/2 yr old DGD really likes Grim Grinning Ghosts ... but her favorite is Walking Down Mainstreet... she tries to do the dance, including the leg kicks :). I definitely want to get a copy of Beach Party -- at the moment Ariel is her favorite (next to Mickey).

She has always been very shy of any characters (including the Easter Bunny and Santa) and I'm hoping she'll warm up to the WDW characters on our trip in October.

PS -- Have to agree about the Flick/AK tape .... she had no interest in it at all!!!

Does anybody know where these tapes can be purchased? Is there a web site?
