So I am on the fence on whether to have videography. Part of me says that I will never watch it and it will be a waste of money, but part of me still wants it.

Do you wish that you got it?

Did you get it and could live without it?

I didn't book videography for our VR in May and really wish now that I had. Two friends/family members said they would video the ceremony, and in the event, one took the wrong charging lead for his camera and so his battery was flat on the day, and the other just forgot to bring his camera
I would love to watch a recording of our ceremony now, simply because, no matter how hard you try to remember, you forget a lot of it. I was so excited and nervous that a lot of what Rev Tim said went over my head!!
You cannot be everywhere on your day, and at least with a videographer, you can at least hope to catch up on what you have missed or forgotten!!
All this said, if it were a choice between a videographer or a good photographer, I would opt for the photographer every time. I treasure our photos!!!!

We are doing videography!!

At first DF wasn't going to allow it he finally gave in because I told him we REALLY need to have this to look back on, because once the day comes and it's over there's no redoing to get video.

We are using Tim with Silver bells video. His prices are the best I've seen, and he's so great and nice!

I'm sure you can have a videographer for Sea Breeze Point, but I'm not sure how Disney would feel about an outside videographer at the Backstage Prop Shop...

You can not bring an outside videographer to an in-park event. You could hire an outside vendor for just the ceremony, or Disney for both, or Disney for just the reception.

We actually added a videographer about 2 months ago. We didn't see the point in spending the money and figured it was probably something we would only watch once. However, everyone I talks to says we will regret it if we don't especially since we are going to have so many unique things having it be a Disney wedding. In the end we figured they were probably right. It will be amazing to eventually show our children this fairytale wedding with Cinderella's Coach ect. Plus I figure there are things I won't see like the the ring bearers or flower girls walk down the aisle.

I am mixed about videography. Well, lets just say Disney's videography. I always knew I wanted it. And during the wedding, the videographer was great! Super nice, never in the way, and I even learned that she did "mini interviews" with the guests. So neat! BUT the song selection for the video SUCKS!!!! Big time! I had wanted our wedding song "Lost in This Moment" by Big & Rich which is a little obscure, so I figured they wouldn't have that one. But I did think they would have "Today was a Fairytale" by Taylor Swift, the "Somewhere Over the Rainbow/Wonderful World" song by the Haiwaiin Israel something, or even a Disney love song! But nope!!! The lady I'm working with is so nice and I keep bugging her to check to see if they added more songs, but she said these are the popular ones (none of which I want!!) "Everythings Right" by Matt Wertz, "God Gave Me You" by Dave Barnes, "I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz, "Hey Soul Sister" by Train, or "At Last" Etta James. The rest, I've never heard of or they're all instrumental ones I've never heard of.

Gah! I wish I had thought to research the song selection before I chose my videographer! I have 6 months before I have to have it made, so I'm hoping in 2 months they get a good song.

So I guess long story short, definitely do the videography, just make sure to not only check reviews of the vendor, but make sure they have a song you'd want!

I would love to know the answer to this as well. I wouldn't think there would be any copyright issues since you aren't going to play your wedding video for the masses to try and turn a profit (I assume )

Hi Andrea,

As Disney Video, our company has to go the legal route with the way we conduct business. This website allows us to let couples select their music legally with songs that were carefully selected to fit well with wedding videography. Although you may not be familiar with some songs/artists, these songs were all chosen with wedding videography in mind.

Music licensing laws are very strict and complicated. For music to be used in video, there are licenses that have to be purchased and we handle that on your behalf. Music has to be approved for these licenses and it can be a long process. We’ve been working with Songfreedom to broaden the mainstream library and have already submitted all the most popular music and Disney music that couples request for their video (‘Today was a Fairy Tale’ by Taylor Swift being one of them). They are working hard at getting licenses for us to use these songs, but again, we have no timeline of how long this could take and if we will get these songs approved. They did tell me some new songs should be added to the library in July.

Here are some options:

•If you have any suggestions of songs that you would like us to submit, we’d be more than happy to work with Songfreedom to try to get approval. If you would like, we can put your wedding project on hold for up to 6 months to see if we can get approval on any music that you like better.
•We could have the editor select some music that will go best with your video since they have great judgment on what fits best with footage.
•I can tell you Etta James ‘At Last’, Jason Mraz ‘I’m Yours’ and Train ‘Hey Soul Sister’ are our most popular choices from couples and they all fit really well with wedding footage.
•I would also recommend checking out the other libraries besides Mainstream. I know you won’t be familiar with the songs, but if you can imagine wedding footage edited to them, they turn out very cinematic and beautiful.
•If you would like the editor to recommend songs that sound similar to some of your favorite genres or songs, we could give some recommendations.

Unfortunately, we have no other options with music other than using the legally licensed music of your choice or letting the editor select for you.

It's technically not legal for any company/videographer to use music without a specific licensing agreement since they are selling the video to you. Small videographers probably just break the law since a recording company isn't likely to sue a small business (not much profit to make there, other than getting them to stop). Disney, however, wouldn't fall under the radar.

I'm in the same boat as you, Andrea. It totally sucks that we weren't informed of the limited and CRAPPY music selection BEFORE we were already locked into using Disney video (I found out 1 week before our wedding-- not much time to find another videographer, right?) In response to the OP, I am so excited that we will have a video. The whole day passes in a flash and I am thankful that we will have another way to remember it.

Well, we were holding out hope that new songs would get added-- they mentioned Michael Buble on the phone, and some other things. For the first song, I'm fine with one of the instrumentals. I think "romanzo" and "timeless" are both pretty, and would work well as background music. As it is now, I don't know what we would pick for the second, more upbeat song. All of that music is just *bad* music. I probably would have loved it if I was 19, but it's ridiculous to think people will want that on their wedding video.

Wow, this is really disappointing. We did not have a professional videographer for our wedding and really wanted to do it for our Epcot VR next year. I don't even know most of the songs they listed and certainly wouldn't want them on our video. Music is a huge deal for Paul and I if we can't have the songs we are carefully selecting for our VR then this will be a deal breaker, especially with a music (Rockin' All Over the World) theme.

Guess I will have to give this some more thought.
