What is your opinion on having a videographer at your wedding? I'm trying to decide if we should spend the money to have one or not.

I know that we probably would only watch it once or twice but in a way it would be niceto have.

What do you think?

YES YES YES, you will be so busy and excited you might miss some of the little moments of the day! It will be so nice to look back and watch the video on your anniversary! Yu can show it to your kids and grandkids :) Welll someday! The videographer can capture moments of people in other rooms that you will miss, but would have loved to have seen yourself.

I am really looking forward to being able to watch it all after the fact, just to appreciate all of the little details and memories that happen so fast!

I am turning out to be such a sap!:rotfl2: BTW Ive had a few glasses of wine, so I am extra sentimental this evening. :)

Before I got my video back I would have said yes, of course it is great to have a video. As it stands now I spent almost 5K and I don't ever want to watch it again, it is horrible. I am hoping the videographer will fix the problems with it but my photos are 1,000X better and I wish I wouldn't have wasted the money. In the end it is up to you and only you can decide if it is important. I am glad to have our vows on tape (that is the most important part of the day) but I am having a hard time justifying the cost.

I did think about showing it to my kids and grandchildren someday. That would be nice to have. My one cousin who is going to college offered to do the videography so maybe I'll ask her. I'll have to talk to DF this weekend.

I'm not planning on having one. I'm planning to have to just buy a new video camera, and have a friend start it before the ceremony starts, and start it for our dances at the reception. I just in my mind couldn't justify $3000+ for video (as I have to use Disney)

We weren't going to get a videographer but then I kept reading and hearing from people that you miss so much. I didn't budget for one and was going to have a family member video for us. Well I was talking to a bride who did this and the person who recorded hers had a crush on her MOH and mainly recorded her the whole time. I then decided I need an unbias videographer. :lmao:

So we are now having Visions Media. They are reasonable and I wasn't sure if I wouldn't always regret it, so we made it happen with some budget cuts.

If we have children we will not be going back to WDW for a long time I wanted something that would show them where we got married in real time.

It also helped showing the people who laughed at the idea of a Disney Wedding what it is really like.

I loved that I was able to show it to my nan and my DH watches it all the time.

I love our video!

I skipped it and don't regret it. The pictures captured all the moments and I look at them all the time (digital frame). I would never really watch a video.

I haven't seen mine yet, so I'm hoping I like it!

But, so far, I'm thrilled I had a videographer. I love my pictures, but there were so many little moments throughout the day that the photographers didn't catch. They were great, but they're only two people. I can't wait to re-watch things in real time!

I've debated back and forth...a narcissistic part of me really wants one so I can go back and admire my fanciness :rolleyes1 But, my DF is really indifferent and doesn't think we need it. The more I thought about it, the more I realize the pictures were what's important to me, so I've decided no. Plus, I'd rather spend the money on something else...like characters!

One of my guests just bought a new HD camcorder and he loves being the one to document stuff (and he has a good eye for getting the good and hilarious moments). So, were just going to let him capture what he wants....there's sure to be some funny bits! :rotfl: Plus, he's computer/tech savvy so he's going to edit it down for us, too. :thumbsup2

My mom is very old fashioned when it comes to weddings and is very anti us having a video done.

That being said most of the people who I have talked to have said it was their biggest regret not having one. Others have said they are so glad that they did and can't imagine not having a video.

I was thinking maybe I should get a video done. Then after hearing about Melissa's debaukle (sp?), I am unsure. I am really really picky about pictures and videos in general. I am scared that I am going to be dissapointed.

I think in the long run its going to come down to what the budget looks like.

With all of that being said. Is there anyway we could start a video thread so generous people could post their videos so that all of us indecisive people can make a better decision?

That is a good idea! Or does anybody have part of their wedding video on YouTube? If so, would you mind posting it or a link to it?

I regret not having a video. We had good friends that said they would video the entire ceremony for us but they got lost on the way to the church and missed it. A bunch of DH's siblings video'd the ceremony but not straight through--like just choppy 10 second increments then they'd turn it off for what I guess they thought was the unimportant stuff:scared1:--oh, like the minister's homily, which was very personlized to us.

That's so funny - we had exactly the opposite experience. Our videographer missed a ton of key moments that our photographers got. Whenever we watch our video, we say, "Thank God the Roots were there!" :rotfl:

That said, even though we aren't crazy about our wedding video, at least we have all the raw footage. And even if we never get it re-cut (we keep saying we'll do it, but... ) I am glad we have as much coverage of the day as possible - photo and video. I know I would've regretted not having a videographer.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!! I also debated having one becasue of the price, but now I couldn't imagine not having one. I love my pictures, but there is something so amazing about being able to watch the video and hear our vows, and mudic at the reception.

Yeah it is soooo worth it!! you will not regret having a video.

I initially thought it would be an needless expense, and thought we could go the route of someone setting up a video camera. And all the wedding video samples I saw seemed too traditional at best, and super cheesy at the worst...

But then I thought about it some more, and realized that even though we could set up a camera and 'let it run', what we'd really want is an edited product (which is where a lot of your $$ goes in the process - editing is time consuming, and some people are pretty heavy handed at it).

I did some more research and came up with Cinema Chic in Titusville. Kat was amazing to work with, and the cost was reasonable.

We got our video, and we love it. She perfectly captured our personalities and the tone of our day. So much moreso than a static shot of our vows. You can see a snippet of it here

I don't regret doing it for a moment. There are some moments that brought tears, some moments that brought laughter... amazing moments that get lost in the day. We had a dessert party (well, wine and cheese, really) and for me the video is worth it for the fireworks alone...

My philosophy on video is, if you think you might want one... get one. I think it's better to have one and watch it seldom than to wish you'd done it.

Tabetha thanks so much for posting your video - it was great I really enjoyed it. I wish more people would post theirs.

We don't regret it at all! Our photographer and videographer each captured different things throughout the day and we are so glad we splurged and had both. Unfortunately both no longer do Disney weddings, but it was something I would not trade at all.
