So I'm thinking of recording part/all of the half marathon in January. Mainly because I want to video tape my proposal to my girlfriend after I cross the finish line but want to have some of the race in it as an introduction. My girl has no idea that this is the reason I want to record my run. How do you guys and gals think this will work out or what do you think it's the best way to go about it

Congrats and best wishes,
I have a few friends that record off-road, cycling, and other active sports and they all swear by a "Go Pro Hero" I have only seen the produced videos, not the camera itself, but I believe they are "ruggedized" and have built-in stabilization features. I think they run in the $300 range. You can buy accessories to mount them on your person. You might be able to find a way to rent one if you don't want to purchase one outright.

I just realized you are in CT. There is a store "adorama" in NYC that will let you rent a GoPro kit for $50/day, $135/week. Or something like that. They may also have the body mounts. They are great to work with and if you tell them what you want to do, they can guide you. Google "adorama rentals"

GoPRo is the best way to go. Comes with a water proof housing and the newest version has 'some' stabilization. I have a buddy who does all the Attractions Magazine race videos. He runs with a stabilization arm and the quality of his shoots is remarkable.

Here is a sample..
