Is it me or does anyone else have a DH that's a PS2 or other video game addict?? i mean i can't even talk to him he's so zoned out and he plays for hours on end..it's frustrating when i have a dryer buzzer dinging and the phone ringing and a crying baby waking from her nap and he claims not to hear a thing!!! AUGHH!!! haha what do i do?? :confused3

No, not my dh but my 9yr old dh as I type he's running between his game cube and his computer. I have to yell or shut it off to get his attention. Dh is addicted to his lap top. Never hears a word I'm saying when he's on it. Drives me insane.

We have all the major game systems here, but DH mainly plays after the kids are asleep. If he's playing during the day, it is almost always with my DS - and if I need him, he's good about pausing it or stopping it. We buy most of our games used and do a lot of trade-ins to save money. I play, too, so no complaints here.
My sister's husband is more like what you're describing. When he plays, he will for hours on end and never help her out or respond to anything that is said to him. He also buys games without telling her and gets most of them brand new. I don't think she ever resolved the time issue, but he did lose his debit/ATM card!

You ask what to do? Have you tried setting up a schedule like, DH can play from here to here with no interruption? Or maybe a trade off? You can play but you have to help me with this chore first - and make it a big one, hehe!
Good luck! Hope you work something out.

Not a game system but DH computer time sometimes gets out of hand. It is not so bad now that DD is older, but we had some probs when she was a newborn. I basically told him; "If you think your computer is more important than your DD I'll throw the "darn" thing through the window!!" (Post-preg hormonal swings are so much fun) :rotfl2:

Heh. You think you have it bad? Try having a DH that plays an MMORPG (that's massively multiplayer online role playing game). There's a reason why Everquest quickly became known as Evercrack.
I try and look at the bright side...at least he's good at helping getting chores done, but I do agree, it is frustrating at times.

When DH and I got married his mom announced "Now you finally have someone to play with!" I am as much a gamer as my DH.

We fell in  love over Super Nintendo! :rotfl: When we were dating I used to beg him to skip classes so he could come over to my house to play Mario Brothers.

We are raising gamers as well. All of our children have been playing playstation / gameboys/ nintendo since they were 2.

Sorry if I can't help in your situation

I played EQ for years, but finally gave it up in December. GRRR and now they come back with an offer to play my character again for free for 21 days. And wouldn't you know it, I spent all night last night installing the game again. I guess WoW will have to take a back seat for now.

But back to the OP, it's no different than having a wife that's addicted to Trading Spaces or soap operas. I know when my wife's watching those things, she doesn't hear a word I say.

We all have our little "zone out" things. Guys, for the most part, like video games, sports and cars. And it's not that we're ignoring you, we're just not really there. You see, we don't PLAY video games, we LIVE them. If I'm playing EverQuest, I'm not in my room, I'm in Norrath (the fictional place EQ exists). If I'm playing NCAA football, I'm not in my room, I'm in the stadium, calling out the signals, trying to ignore the crowd. :rotfl:

Wanna get our attention? Put on something sexy and walk in front of us a couple (or three) times. It works for me, most of the time. LOL

My DH has a full size (arcade type) Galaga game in our garage. It drives me crazy when he is out there playing it.

I love to play games too! The Game Cube is my outlit. I play a wonderful game called Animal Crossing. It's very addictive. Has anyone else got hooked on this one? How about Monkey Ball or Harvest Moon? So much fun, so little time. :flower:

I am an xbox widow, xbox live that is. I used to get woken up in the middle of the night to be told about the amazing game of mech assult he just finished...Corey doesn't play as much any more, but I did put a rule in the house (an he agreed to it) that no playing until we (DD and I) were asleep. This worked out cause Ava and I went to sleep way early (like 9, I start work at 6, I flex time) and he could play for a couple of hours.

But he has kinda stopped playing, I think its cyclical..Halo 2 was bad

Well i am glad to know i am not alone!! My husbands game is San Andreas...i think that is what it's called. He's trying to get all his game time in before he gets rid of it he says (doesn't want kids to see the game). It's pretty annoying! haha but i guess i have to live with it, i do still love him bunches :)
He only plays late evenings or EARLY mornings before work and weekends while dd and i are still asleep. he's crazy though he has to be reallllllly sneaky cause i can hear a pin drop and once i'm awake he pretends he just woke up too...silly boys don't they know we know EVERYTHING!!!

Don't feel bad, I can't tell you how many conversations i have had with the back of a head!! Irritating... :badpc: (pretend the pc is a ps2, or gamecube, or gameboy, or xbox..he has them all!!!!! )grr... :smooth:

LOL :rotfl:
