Video Cameras Vs Picture Cameras

I guess you can record on a computer with an A/V connection(and get the date/time). The problem is- with USB or i.LINK- the data is transfered digitally all the way. If you use A/V- the data goes from digital to analog then back to digital- so you lose a little quality. Which you won't really notice on the TV- until everything goes to HDTV- then the difference in quality may show up more.

Ok- after reading the manual a bit- if I turn on the 16:9 mode(widescreen) I can also keep the steadyshot mode on. So it looks like you can use them both togther. I haven't tried it, tho.

We just got the SOny 260 digital camcorder and we have the Sony CD-Mavica 350 for a digital camera which records every thing on a mini cd. This is great. More space, more pictures, less money. As far as the date goes, you can select it to have the date, but if your going to do any type of editing and you have the date, just remember the words will appear if you have the feature on. My then DW will be using the camera and I will be using the camcorder. We plan on afterwards putting our footage on a dvd so we can give to our mothers and friends of what we saw on our honeymoon. Out of our family, we are going to be the only ones who will be/have gone to Disney World.

the 260 handycam can use the firewire. Pretty much all digital camcorders can do this.

I am taking both our digital camera and digital camcorder to the parks. Both are about the size of my hand! I have small hands by the way!

I think a lot of the people who don't carry the camcorder to the parks are people who still have the old "clunkers" the huge ones. On my last trip, I saw someone carrying a video camera the took VHS tapes. The was huge.

I was counting my bless that both my digital camera and camcorder were small and not bulky.

Last trip DW and I decided that the camcorder wasn't worth the trouble of lugging it around everyday. After we got home we regretted not taking more video. On our upcoming trip we will definitely being doing both. We've got a Canon Z series camcorder (miniDV) and the bag doesn't weigh much and fits comfortably under my legs on every ride. It's really only a small incovenience to carry it around and looking back on it I can't remember any difference in my level of enjoyment between days I carried the camcorder and days I didn't.
