Video Camera

So my Dw wants to take both cameras and buy a new video camera one of those Hard drive ones.I dont want to be carrying around all that equipment,Is it really hard to get on rides with this?Is there a place to leave them when you get on rides?does anybody haul around a video camera and a camera?

we'll be hauling around both. I just got a sony handy cam hard drive camera. it is SO SO small. it's not much bigger then a regular point and shoot camera!

I also have a DSLR camera so it's a bit bigger.

The only place to leave them would be a locker at the front of the park. it will be no problem taking them on rides though.

It's not "hard" to carry a digital camera and a video camera, it really depends on how heavy it is. Some rides have nets for you to put your thing in, I've seen plenty of people not enjoy their day at the parks because they are too busy filming everything, do you happen to have a digital camera that also takes videos?? maybe you can take little videos (about 2 or 3 min) with it I know they take alot of space of your card, but it might be worth it.

yea thats what I was thinking because both take video and I can just buy a bunch of flash drives,Since we already have a older shoot and point video camera.I thinkits her reason to buy a new video camera

We always "forgot" to take out old video camera into the parks because it was so bulky lol. This year, we had the opportunity to get a hard drive camcorder and it's so small it fits in my little messenger bag w/ no problem. We also have a good p&s digital that is tiny.

We took a lot of video this year of things like character interaction, parades, riding in front on the monorail... a lot of which we might have forgotten otherwise.

fwiw, I am taking my big SLR camera next trip. Bulky, yes, but I really miss getting the really cool shots of my kiddos. We'll probably alternate and decide based on the park, i.e. MK small camera, Epcot,DHS and AK big camera. Or alternatively take the SLR when we are visiting resorts to do self serve "photo ops" and the little ones in the parks.

For us, a locker at each park is critical.

We park-hop, so we are at each park at least twice (or more) per visit. So, I generally take our cameras with me for part of the trip and take all of the pictures and video. Then at other times, I put the cameras in the locker and just enjoy myself.

I carry a Nikon SLR and a Sony miniDV video camera, so it certainly gets bulky. We also have a "point and shoot" camera that we can slip into a pocket for emergency photos, but I use my SLR for all of the important ones.

I get pictures and video of all of our favorite rides, places, and moments during the designated "camera times." Then when we visit the parks a 2nd time, I leave the camera in a locker and just enjoy myself.

The great thing about park-hopping and lockers is that you only pay once per day. Thus, if I rent a locker at Epcot in the morning, then I can easily transfer that to the MK for the evening without paying extra.

We were there last week and DH carried the video camera (we have the hard drive kind) and I carried the camera. We had no problem taking them on rides and they didn't bother us at all.

I actually just purchased a JVC Everio 30GB hard drive camera for our trip in April..I got it at W-Mart.I think they have em for 249.00 now..Anyways, I can fit it in my cargo shorts pocket, it is VERY small, light & has a 27x zoom..It is a great little camera.

I just bought exactly the same camera - for my trip in April teehee.

It is very small and compact, I am delighted.

I always carry our video camera (NOT the HDD kind, but I wish it was) and 2 P&S cameras (1 for DD, 1 for DW). It all fits in my camera bag.

On some rides, I put the whole bag in the net. On others, I put it in the floor and wrap the strap around my leg. I've never had an issue.

I carry both a SLR and my Video camera in a backpack. Not sure what type of camera you have but if you don't want to carry both, look into a video camera with a decent still shot.

We have the Sony SR11. It is a High Def Hard Drive video (60GIGs) but also has a 10 mega pixel still camera buit in. I don't use the still shot option because I prefer my SLR but may be a way for you to get both in 1 camera.

It's quite common to be carrying both canera and video camera. You should have no problem.

We do different parks on each single day and through the trip I take the video camera to a park in the am, then after noon break, leave it in the room and enjoy the next park without, but through the whole vacation, movies are taken in half day increments for all parks am and pm. It gives me the enjoyment of walking and enjoying the parks without filming, wife takes her digital camera everyday, very small.

I know that many people are really into taking a ton of photos and videos but I am in the "I don't want to carry stuff club".

I have a Canon Elph that does both still photos and short video clips that fits into my pocket. It is about the size of a credit card although it is a bit thicker.

Can you get something that might be small and yet can do both video clips and still photos to help minimize the amount of equipment you will have to carry?

Keep in mind for hard drive/flash memory camcorders... unless you upgrade to the high def models, your video quality will not be as good as the quality with the mini dv camcorders.

I was looking to upgrade my minidv camcorder to a flash memory camcorder that uses SD cards, but after reading a lot on the internet, I think I'm going to stick with my mini dv camcorder for now. Those hard drive/flash memory camcorders compress the video and the quality is not as good as the mini dv format.

To me that's a sticking point, but I realize many people won't care about it and the quality will be fine for them. Just wanted to point that out because I had no idea until I started reading up on it.
