Video camera / Camcorder recommendations please!!

Now that I've bought my Sony H5, my boyfriend is jealous and he wants a new toy!!

He's looking for a new video camera / camcorder for around $250 (do they even sell them that cheap?) I know at this price range, he isn't going to get anything that has all kinds of bells and whistles attached, however he'd like something somewhat decent. He would also prefer to have something that is small and compact.

I'm pretty sure there are different types of video cameras (digital, DVD, etc) so if someone could provide a brief explanation that would be really great!

Sorry I won't be of any help to you on this one... my video camera is a Sony, but it is about 6 years old at this point. And I so seldom use it, that it isn't worth it to me to replace it.

Hahaha when I saw that you had replied I thought, oh no...he probably said "she's at it again!!"

We're just looking for a cheapy videocamera, nothing too expensive that we'll have to stress out over. I've found a few on price grabber that look appealing. Maybe I'll give one of them a shot!

I'd look at the Sony HC-26 (I think). We have the 46 (I think) it was more than $250 but not terribly expensive and I've been very pleased with the results.
