Hi All,

THis is my first post! I love WDW and am thrillled to find a forum of like-minded people! I have a question for you all. DH and I are going to WDW in July of this year for our 1 year anniversary. We are trying to figure out a good place to go and eat. I have read all of the reviews of Victoria and Alberts, and I think it sounds great, yet we are newlyweds and don't have a lot of disposable income to throw around at this point. I have also read good things about Jiko, and I personally love African food and have traveled to the continent in the past. Do you think it would be a grave mistake to pass up V&A for Jiko? Do we need PS at Jiko? If not Jiko or V&A, are there any other great anniversary places to eat? We ate last year at California Grill and would like to try something new.

Thank you so much!

I think that you would definitely enjoy either restaurant. You would not be making a grave mistake by not dining at V&A's and going to Jiko. Another suggestion, I like Boma even more than Jiko. We are not buffet people, but it is the best I have ever had. Some of Jiko's entree's may be on the buffet at Boma's. That was the case for us last summer. I can not say enough about this place. If you go, please let them know it is your anniversary.

If $$$ is a concern, Jiko's would be fine replacement for V&A. We eat there each trip and will be going back again in October.
And I'd get PS just as soon as you are sure of when you want to go.

One other suggestion is Citrico's. We find it quite romantic and there aren't many kids there.

Jiko is a fine restaurant, and personally I'd much rather eat there than V&A's.

On our last trip we went to both V&A and Jiko, on the whole I enjoyed the food at Jiko better. Sacrilege, I know, but it is our one must return place on every trip now.

I think Jiko sounds perfect for you at this point in your life. You can also share appetizers, entrees or desserts if you want to hold down costs. Can't do that at V&A. You can always go there on a future trip.

Be sure to let us know about your meal if you do go to Jiko. I wonder if the flavors, aromas and sounds will remind you of Africa?

Jiko sounds like the perfect place for the two of you...yes, you do need a ps.

Arrive early and enjoy a coctail at the little bar at Jiko..very nice, great bartender. Take a look around the lobby, it is a museum all it's own. Walk out on the savannah before or after dinner.

Enjoy!

Jiko is our favorite restaurant at WDW and you will very much enjoy it. Food is wonderful, wine list is fantastic (all South African wines, many of which are not available anywhere else in the US except at Jiko) and service on several visits has always been great. You cannot go wrong by going there.
