Victoria & Alberts no kids!

Considering all of the places that one can eat at the GF. I don't see this as a big deal.
Honestly though, if someone wants to pay an extra $125 bucks to watch their three year old eat Goldfish, go right ahead.
I loved eating at V&A's. I got a babysitter for the meal (Hint...it's cheaper and my kids had more fun)

Even though I have two small children I say "good for them" for making it more of an adult place to dine. If I had someone to watch my kids and thought I'd enjoy the food at V&A I'd make an ADR there now in a heartbeat. But alas...

It all depends. Too many parents automatically skip to the chicken tenders and mac n cheese when they take little ones out.

I am not super parent, but my daughter eats what we eat, and has done so from the day she could handle solid food. We travel alot, and frequently dine with freinds and family in new places.

Parents need to parent and teach their kids to behave in places like V & A, and not treat it like a TGIF.

I would think if they removed the "childrens menu" it would have the same effect as an out right ban.

Heck I am 35 and would not enjoy the food here:confused3 I am a meat and potatoe kind of girl:thumbsup2

I am in total agreement with Disney's decision to ban little kids from Victoria & Alberts. I ate there over the holidays and it was wonderfully QUIET. After a day in the parks with shrieking children and yelling parents, it was a true haven. Actually I think it's ironic that I always see so many crying, unhappy kids. Parents, take a cue: Children can only handle so much. After a few hours, they will be tired and irritable. You can always buy s "day pass". That way you can take them out of there, give them a nap, and bring them back later. What's the point of making them (and yourselves miserable)?

Sorry...I got off on a rant about one of my pet peeves. One more thing about V & A's: When I made my reservation, they also informed me that cell phones are NOT allowed. Hallelujah! I didn't have to listen to any morons blabbing on about things that I didn't want to hear.

No kids & no cell phones made for a wonderful dining experience. Expensive? Yep. But totally worth every penny.

Where have I been? i always thought it was for adults over 18. Was it ever this way?

Apologies if its posted somewhere else, I had a quick look first and couldn't see it.

I think Disney is for for the benefit of kids and adults are just allowed to tag along or join in. Going there is an adults excuse to escape real life and that includes pretending you're a kid again and remembering what its like to relax and laugh!
:goodvibes

How strange. I find this statement rather odd.

Disney is for all ages and certainly not all of Disney is catered for children. I have been 7 times and twice I have been with my children. All the other 5 times I have been as a couple or with friends I have never felt it was catered for children. Disney is so flexible. If you want an adult only holiday then it can be done starting with Jelly rolls, P.I, RNR, HTT and V & A etc... If you want a family holiday then you do all the small rides, parent swap, character meals etc....

I would think about it logically before writing a statement that Disney is for KIDS! :confused3

now if only we can get cali grill, artist point, bistro and chef france, to follow V&A example. ;)

Now that's going too far! :scared1: I understand the desire for a 5 star restaurant like V&V to be adults only and I could even see Bistro going the same way, but not the signatures and certainly not Chefs!

Toad: Kids were always allowed--if not exactly welcome with open arms--at V&A. Very few ever came (no kids menu, 2 and a half hour meal, etc) but apparently enough did such that diners who weren't exactly pleased said something to the restaurant about it. The recent change was in response to guests comments.

I understand the change, do not like it, but understand it. However, I do take some offense to some of the comments that some of you make in this post. I have taken my children to V & A on a number of occasions. They are currently 7 and 9. They go about once a year. They eat the food, they do not run around, they do not talk loud, they do nothing even remotely obnoxious as the drunken braggard that usually sits somewhere in the restaurant. They take a five and give it to the harpist and ask for a song. Once in a while, they will draw on a 3"x5" notepad. But, they eat the food, from the initial spoon of whatever is first, to the desert. they order the steak, but sometimes the fish or poultry. They do not order the cavier, but the eldest does the foie gras. The offense I take is that you consider all children, and all parents, equal. Would I want Billy described above, no. Have I ever seen Billy described above in the restaurant, no. Have we been complemented every time we have been at V & A on our boys, yes. Have we been complemented by other guests, yes. Do they wear suits, yes, etc. etc. etc.

Frankly, I think Billy above would not be in the restaurant because the parents would not shell the $$ out to do so.

Unfortunately, from what I can gather, there WERE "Billys" in the restaurant, and probably on more than one occasion.

I think the new policy is great. I see nothing wrong with having one place in all of WDW that is for adults only.

There were "Billys" and "Susies" several different times when we dined at V&A. I, for one, am glad of the change.

Why is it so terrible for ONE resteraunt to ban under 10's?

I agree. Besides, there are adults, like DH and me, who go without kids. Yes, I know it's Disney World, but it's nice to have a few places without kids, especially since they opened up Pleasure Island. Something about drinking a bucket of booze next to a kid in a stroller doesn't seem right to me. ;)
