Victoria & Albert's: How Much Would You Pay?

Thinking of going to V&A's during our upcoming stay. Here's the dilemma: as compared to other restaurants in its class, the pricing is actually very reasonable. Unfortunately, we'll have a toddler with us and will need to add child care into the mix if we want to go, which I would estimate would add about another $100 to the evening when it's all said and done. That would knock the total cost of the meal up to about $600 in the dining room, more if we did QV or the CT.

This is obviously not V&A's problem, but it does have the practical effect of raising the price to a point where it's in some pretty elite company. Is the experience there good enough that it would be worth it even at that price, or are we better off waiting until we're back another time when we have family with us or she's at least older and we can take her to one of the child activity centers?

Thanks for any insight...

You say $600. Removing the $100 for child care, where do you come up with $500 for the main dining room?

Wow, you're right.
My daughter and I don't drink, so didn't realize the wine pairings added that much. We did the regular dining room, for her 21 birthday. It was a lovely evening. We had a fireworks cruise afterward, so just walked from V&A to the dock there at the GF to "catch the boat".

Dinner, plus wine pairings take us to around $400, plus tax, plus tip. I'm rounding, but I'm assuming that's pretty close.

DW and I ate in the main dining room at V&A during our visit the week after Thanksgiving, 2010. We used our TIW discount and split a wine pairing between the two of us and the total price was $326.12 including tip. If you have AP's, you might want to consider purchasing TIW.

All the chatter about which restaurant ranks where on a specific list is a moot point to me. Is it a guide? Yes. Does it guarantee a great meal everytime? No. V&A may or may not be overpriced but couldn't the same thing be said for every restaurant at WDW? After all, you are paying somewhat for the location too. Is V&A as fine as some of the names mentioned in PP's? Maybe, but where else are you going to go for a comparable dining experience at WDW? Bistro de Paris, Bluezoo and Jiko's are really good too but they do not compare to V&A. We each have our own preferences for cuisine and atmosphere. We each have our own opinions on what constitutes great service and fine dining. To each his own. If DW and I are at WDW and want to have a great meal, excellent service in a quiet, upscale atmosphere, we know we can receive this at V&A.
