I am getting married at Disney this coming January and my fiance and I are looking for a good way to treat our parents and some of our closest family members....Just a thank you for their support and love! We were thinking of treating them to a dinner at the chefs table at Victoria and Alberts while we were down there during the wedding weekend. It's getting close to the time where we can make a reservation ( I think its still 180 days out, if not, i guess it will take a miracle to make one now:)) and I wanted to find out what other people's experiences were! I saw the food network special on Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, where they showed the engagement at V&A's, but that is really the only place I have heard about this specific dining experience! Is it worth the money?

Thanks for any opinions, suggestions..etc :)

Sorry never eaten here always wanted to. We also saw the same show. From what we have heard ou will be treated special as well as the cost. Still for a wedding wonderful thing to do and remember. Call and speak with them make sure they know it is a wedding then they will plan something special I hope for you.
Have a wonderful time   party: party: party:

I have not eaten at Victoria & Alberts, but it does look incredible. For some other ideas, you can also rent the Grand 1 yacht at the GF. Private dining can arrange a meal on board and you can time it to the fireworks. Your wedding coordinator can probably point you in the direction of an event planner, if you wanted to create a private dining affair at one of the resorts or even in a park. There's dessert parties and special viewing area for Illuminations and I believe that Jiko's and the California Grill have private dining areas that you might be able to use.

If you want some incredible ideas, check in with Janet2K. She's hosted some amazing dining events and definitely one of a kind.

The Chef's Table has an absolute capacity of eight. That is not too good as three of the people are facing away from the kitchen.

You might want the regular dining room, as there is a private room which can seat twelve. If you work through FTW you should be able to get one or the other. Note that there is only one reservation per night for CT. Normally it is booked right at the 180 day mark. If FTW can prebook it for you you will be in luck.

I agree--for an occasion like this the smaller room in the main V&A area would probably be a better choice--. At the Chefs table you are in a kitchen area, and you'll also see all the other servers coming and going back there.

The wife and I have dined at Victoria & Alberst twice now, the first back in 1997 and then again last year and both times were wonderful. We have not been at the Chef's Table so I can't comment on that. But I think the main dinning room would be a better fit for you especially considering the limited seating capacity for the CT.
We chose the dinner with the wine pairings, which I would recommend. My wife is a wine person and she was in heaven, I'm not but I still enjoied the pairings and appreciated the complimentary tastes. Be warned though, if you are not used to having a drink with every course one could be a bit tipsy by the end, they were not "cheap" or short pours!
And Congratulations with Best Wishes!

Good Luck!

I just tried for Christmas without luck!

Guess it wasn't meant to be!

I have to concur with my fellow posters. The small private dining room is probably a better choice for you and your families.

Congrats on your up coming wedding!

Thanks Everyone!

ooh, I never even thought about the Grand 1, thank you!! You are absolutely right...Janet2k has had some AMAZING events!

We would have exactly eight people, but Im not sure now about the three chairs with their backs to the kitchen! hmm! Thank you!!

Frosty466 - Thank you. Now, do you know if the dinner differs between the dining room and the chefs table? I know they make your food right in front of you, but I wasn't sure if it came straight off the regular menu. We are big wine lovers, so the wine pairing is a must! :)

I wonder if the cost for the meal with wine pairing is lower then the dinner at the chefs table!

Thanks again for the suggestions! I just contact our wedding coordinator to see if we could go through her! Hopefully that will be a yes!

The difference between the meals in the dining room and at the Chef's Table....Diningroom you pick one item from each section (App, Fish Course, Meat, etc) At the CT, you are given small portions of just about everything on the menu that night and usually some other extras.

The wine pairing cost is the same in the diningroom and the CTs.

Rusty - Do you and your fiance and or your parents and close family have a huge interest in cooking? If so then the CT would be a good choice, but if not, I would honestly say your first experience, to make it special would be in the private dining room

Thanks for your response. We do have an interest in cooking and I think that is what attracted us to the chefs table, but I think we are going to look into the private dining room as well. I dont want it to be a hectic/loud/stressful evening, and im a bit afraid that back their in the "kitchens," it would be! We were just looking for a unique experience! Thanks again!

Oh it TRUELY IS a unique experience.

The room for the CT is set off from the kitchen. V&A kitchen is not loud or stressful. Hectic yes, but defintiely not loud and stressful. Their kitchen is run just like their diningroom....PERFECT!

Mister Disney- (sorry to threadjack)

When you book the chef's table, do they charge a deposit on your credit card for each person?

they take your CC info as part of the reservation, but do not charge anything, unless you are a no show no call.
