Just read another post that mentioned the lack of stabilization on Fantasy. Have sailed Dream twice and felt very little, if any, movement other than leaving Canaveral. Is it the Caribbean waters or something unique about Fantasy that causes the constant vibration ( I think that's how it was described on a previous post ) ? Has anyone ever had or seen an explanation from DCL about it since there appear to be a number of complaints . I am very prone to motion sickness and I do take Bonine but am getting a tad anxious about our upcoming cruise on Fantasy.

Quite the contrary in my experience. When I asked DCL about it, they told me "all of our ships have good stabilizers so you can't go wrong with wherever you are on the ship." :confused3 I don't know if that's accurate or more like they didn't want to say anything negative, or don't know for sure. I've read mixed reviews regarding vibration on both the Fantasy and the Dream.

We did not feel the motion any more on the Fantasy/Dream than the Wonder/Magic. It had been a while since that poster had sailed so it's entirely possible that the water conditions were different. There are a lot of variables. Vibration is not something we were aware of the entire time.

My partner is prone to motion sickness and we found the Fantasy's stabilizers to work well. We put them to the test during hurricane season - Sandy specifically. It was exhausting for everyone but with Dramamine she was never actively sick.

It's all about picking the right stateroom for us. Forward and high is a no-go. Midship is perfect, low-mid is a bonus, and aft is acceptable but comes with its own issues.

Thank you for the encouragement. After having it mentioned so many times, I was beginning to have some concerns. All of the complaints I have read have been about that one ship...Fantasy so I was curious.

I felt movement the first night on the Fantasy. Seemed more noticeable on the lower decks and forward in the theater. As the week went on it was less noticeable. I do have to take motion sickness meds for about 3 days. Doesn't affect my ability to enjoy the cruise.

We got off the Fantasy last Saturday and there was vibration a couple nights. It was really bad one night as we ate in Animators Palate. We also felt it one night in Palo. We thought it was just an aft thing since our room was forward and we never noticed it up there.

Our room deck 7 aft vibrated constantly. We got used to it though and it didn't bother us after the first couple of days.

Theres any number of reasons to get an intermittent vibration on a ship. The most common is the way the ship is moving through the water and which way the current and waves are moving. Under the right circumstances this will cause vibrations. Usually you will feel it the first and last night of the cruise as the ships hit the Gulf Stream on their way in or out. Occasionally youll fell it in other parts of the Caribbean, but its not a usual thing.

As far as stabilization, the stabilizers work best on a ships side to side motion. They generally don't do much for front to back or pitching motion. Also the higher you are or farther away from the ships center of gravity, the more pronounced a ships motion feels. But again this is not a usual thing.

We were on Dream a year ago, level6. The motion hit me at dinner and was quite obvious until the next morning. I have read the speed is a factor since they're trying to make port.

I found I could feel the motion in the theatre but other than that, nothing. I'm not prone to sea sickness, though, while our table mates were, and they said they could feel it more than we could in our staterooms.

The first night was horrible in AP, which is aft. DH had to leave dinner to go to our room on deck 8 forward then was better. After that, we didn't feel any different than on one of the classics. We have enjoyed 20+ foot swells on several of our cruises starting with our first on the Magic. It doesn't feel like we are on a ship if it doesn't move IMO.

In 2011 when we were on the Dream we were in a Cat 8C room towards aft on deck 8 for a 5 day Bahamas cruise and I felt a lot of vibrations. It made me nervous.:bitelip: especially on the first and last night crossing the Gulf Stream.

In 2013 when we were on the Fantasy on deck 10 in a Cat 4A midship I didn't feel any vibrations. :goodvibes that cruise was a western Caribbean.

:confused3

I have not sailed on the Fantasy. But I did sail on the Dream. Our stateroom was on deck 8 aft. I did not experience any motion sickness but the vibrations from the thrusters kept me up more than one night. The only time I really felt the vibration was when I was lying in bed. My DH and kids were not bothered at all by the vibrations.

Our first cruise was on the Dream, deck 2. We felt plenty of vibration on that trip, and plenty of rocking. However, that was in October and weather conditions were less than stellar, we couldn't even dock at CC because the side thrusters were no match for the wind. This past June on the Fantasy we were mid ship deck 7, and felt zero vibration and very little rocking, but had great weather. I really doubt its a difference between the ships as much as a difference in weather conditions.

Thank you all for the input. Never had read of vibration issues on Dream, other than when crossing Gulf stream and that is to be expected. (that was the only time we felt any movement ) When I started to see repeat mentions of significant movement on Fantasy, I was less than happy about that possibility on upcoming cruise. You all have made me feel better and I know it will be a fabulous trip and I will take my Bonine on a regular basis.:)

Oh Lordy! I'm not susceptible to sea sickness, cruises have never bothered me (a small fishing boat on choppy waters made me feel a bit queasy but nothing horrible), but we are on deck 12, very front of the Fantasy in October. I hope our 4.5 year gets my strong stomach!!! :)~

As Truck 1 posted, there are any number of reasons why any ship will have a vibration, especially seas/wind, currents, depth of water under the keel, etc.
Even on big ship, a bit of commercial fish netting could do it.

Your taking a cruise and have to expect the possibility of motion and vibration.

We just finished a cruise last Sat and we were in that same area (concierge deck 12). We had no issues in the cabin - only felt that very slight rocking motion that just lulled us to sleep on most cruise ships. We felt vibrations very strongly in AP; that was the only place we really noticed it.

We just finished a 7 day eastern carribean on the Fantasy...I was actually pretty surprised how much movement/rocking you felt in the dining rooms, theaters as well as our stateroom (aft)... We had previously sailed on the royal carribean adventure of the seas..there was a marked difference. It didn't bother any of us thankfully, (my younger daughter is prone to motion sickness on long car rides)...but it was noticeable.

I noticed many many people with the patches behind their ears.

We only felt vibration on the last night..and i think that was caused by crossing the gulf stream.
