Vibe vs Vue--Help me Decide!

I don't know anything about the Vibe so I can't compare it to the Vue. But I recently spent a lot of time researching the Vue. I have to tell you that it was uncomfortable to me. The seats were really hard and this was their top of the line model. Even the back seat was bad IMO. Maybe its me. :confused3 Check out the Mazda Tribute or CX-7. I just bought a loaded CX-7 for what the Vue would have cost me (with a supplier discount). Good luck with your decision and enjoy your new vehicle whatever it may be.

I had a Saturn (not a Vue) and LOVED it. I loved the service. I had everything done at the dealer, and they took care of the car. Everything was covered under warrenty, the only thing I paid for were the oil changes. With every service (including oil changes), my care would come out hand washed with the interier vacummed.:lovestruc

I now have a Vibe. It's ok. It's SMALL, and I only have 1 child. There is not a lot of room in the back (trunk) area. I HATE the Ponitac service dept. They are so rude and don't seem to care about anything.

My next car will be the VUE Hybrid.

I think it's the Toyota parts. The 09s are HTF because its still really early in the model year.

I think this is what it boils down to: Do we need the extra space or the better gas mileage more. I just can't answer the question though!

Given that everything else is so close, I am going to say that with one child and the possibility of twins you will need the extra space!! Even if you just have a singleton baby but want another within a few years you will need the room. I don't tote a lot around with my one year old but I still seem to get crunched on space.

Do you live near family? Will you be driving the LO over to their house for afternoons or days? Going to daycare and back, you don't need a ton of space for for any sort of outing you have the car seat, stroller, diaper bag and then if you are visiting people the pack n play, an extra bag with toys or supplies.

I am a SAHM and drive a Pacifica with the third row seating. The third row is useless if I have the umbrella stroller. I can't fit anything in with the third row up, not even groceries. I will need/want a new vehicle shortly after having a second child. I don't have to cart a lot of stuff around with DS, that's why I mentioned being a SAHM.

We traveled this week and rented an Elantra. The Britax Marathon car seat barely fit in the back seat!! Add the pack n play and a suitcase, set of golf clubs and stroller and we were packed in the car going to Boston for a few days.

Those are my inputs ... I'd go for the bigger vehicle. My best friend has had a Vue for a few years and just bought a second one. Now they have two!! She really likes them. She has a 2 year old and a 2 week old. The vehicle is perfect for them. She also doesn't have much of a commute and thinks the gas mileage is decent.

My husband just bought a 2008 Saturn Vue hybrid a couple weeks ago. He got one of the last ones in the Chicago area -- every dealer was out of them - he didn't have a choice on color or interior, but he really didn't care. The 2009 ones are even more fuel efficient (different engine type). He is really liking the car -- loves how it shuts down at a stoplight and its pretty quiet all around. I agree the back seats are kind of hard, but for kids/carseats that shouldn't be too much of a problem. The space in the back is really good too - plenty of room for stroller, luggage, etc.

Don't know anything about the Pontiac vibe so I can't offer any advice there.

We seem to be in the same situation a lot, I've noticed through your posts!

I think in your case I would go for the Vue - I think you would miss the extra space, and you don't want to be wishing for another car in a couple years (assuming you plan to keep this vehicle for a long time). DH and I are also trying to start our family (although I actually just had an ectopic pregnancy this month, so it's on hold for a little while), and we will hopefully be shopping for a new, more family friendly vehicle soon. I currently own a Saturn coupe, and it's my second Saturn. I am in the market for a hatchback, and I would absolutely be checking out the Saturn Astra except that I want all wheel drive. I've always liked my Saturns - have you looked at the Astra? I haven't seen it in person, so it may be too small for what you want, although the gas mileage is great!

I think I'm pretty well decided on a Subaru Outback Sport, although I haven't driven it yet. My DH is on his 2nd Subaru, so I do know that I like the company. I think I remember that you are looking to stick with GM vehicles though, so that counts Subaru out!

We have an 08 Vue and are extremely happy with it. I have someone who worked for me that owned a Vibe and they used the term "unreliable" to describe it when we were looking for new vehicles.

One warning with the Vues is that the early gas mileage is well below the 19/26 marked on the window the first 3-5,000 miles. We have been clearing 27 easily on the open highway driving around 70 mph. We get 23 in mixed use driving around the area.
