I have a 15 year old son and 18 year old daughter (it's her graduation gift for the cruise) and both are wanting to do the clubs and not official club; however, they have a question that I don't know the answer to.

1.) When is the ice breaker meet/greet for their clubs on that first night? Is it before dinner typically? (we have late dinner)
2.) Is there other ice breakers on the first day or just that one?

Thanks!

This is a link to a Day 1 Navigator on the Dream you can watch.

We had late dining and I’m pretty sure my daughter was able to go to the Vibe Ice Breakers around 9:15 or 9:30 but I’d recommend watching to confirm.

Update: Just watched the video on my laptop (too small to see on my phone).

7:00 - 1820 Coffee Time at Cove Cafe

10:15 - Ice Breakers for Vibe

I think all of this will be dependent on your sailing and ship but I believe they normally try to plan the get togethers for 1820 and Ice Breakers for Vibe outside of dining times.

All of these are great answers and were very similar to the Fantasy schedule too. Our daughter loves Vibe and our son was 1820 our last cruise for the first time. He had a great group with quite a few international travelers which he loved. Several spoke French which worked for him.

And your daughter can enjoy the Tube... 1820 "kids" typically love silent DJ and other dance party events. Our son discovered he is a Frank Sinatra crooner on Kareoke!

Thank you so much to both of you! I'm sure my daughter will meet tons of people who are in her exact situation (HS graduation cruise) and just not always wanting to hang with mom and dad in the adult area either. My 15 year old will enjoy it but probably not as much as he will the ice cream :)

Lots of people enjoy ice cream as the best thing for them on the ship. Absolutely nothing wrong with that:)

I've had experience in both of your kids age groups so I can answer here. The ice breakers thing was around 10 PM on the first night if I remember correctly. I loved my Vibe experience when I was 16. What helped me was that we met a lovely family on a pre-cruise tour and their DD (a year older than me) did a great job explaining to me how things worked. There's also some fun activities that I loved doing there

As for your DD, I myself did a DCL cruise for my HS graduation. Make sure you mention her graduation to your servers because I got a mini cake from our servers along with a button (I'm also a Disneyland local so I put my button from there on my shirt as well). I did enjoy some of the activities in the adult clubs but there's also the option for her to do some of the family activities. I was (and still am:lmao:) a character fanatic so I would do that too. As for the 18-20 thing, I didn't do much there but the group when I was there was small. There's also sometimes some adult only performances from comedians and stuff which I also liked

I recommend joining the Facebook group for your cruise and having your 1820 age child start a GroupMe text you can post for others in that age group to start chatting ahead of time. We did that for our last cruise, and by daughter had a pretty big group of friends before they even boarded. They ended up spending the entire cruise together and she said it was the best cruise we have ever taken.
