1. Do they ever have room for walk-ins? We are going in September (during free dining), in case that makes a difference. How popular IS this place?

2. We are a family of 5. Will we all be satisfied sharing a pizza? 3 of us eat like adults, and 2 small eaters. We are trying to plan a budget sit-down meal, and wonder if sharing a pizza (with 20% TiW discount) will be close to the price of a CS dinner or lunch. Of course, the Sangria will put us over the limit- but I'm not considering that line item in my decision! ;-)

I know from experience that they keep a walk-in line outside. I've waited about 15 minutes. this was NOT during free dining though.

A large pizza, or the metro monster pizza or whatever it's called? How big ar the group's appetites?

I'm assuming you are not using the dining plan, the answers about sharing pizzas would be different on the dining plan.

A "small" is intended to feed one pretty hungry person or two people trying to be a little more reasonable. Thus, I'd think a "large" could satisfy three adults and two little ones, but I'd be tempted to order an app or just for good measure. The biggest pizza option is pretty ridiculous and I would think would be more than needed for the people you described....but fun to try, I suppose.

It's a pretty busy place. I can't say if a walk-up would be successful for your party.

We are a family of 5 and the metro mezzo was enough - barely. My little kids devoured their pepperoni side, ate a bunch of our quattro formaggi side, and wanted me to order more! We got them some gelato, instead. This size isn't an option on the dining plan, though, and they don't allow sharing if you are paying with credits. You can share whatever you want if paying OOP.

The second time we dined there we got an individual size Prosciutto e Melon that DH and I split while the 3 kids (9,9, and 6 this time) ate a large round. DH actually got a piece of theirs. They are so little, I just don't know where they put it!

Are your dates during Food and Wine? If so, I would not want to count on a walk up.

We are a family of four - all good eaters. We get the big pizza and the rice ball appetizer and it is perfect for us. We travel in August and February and it is always packed.

It't very easy to walk up there. Don't know about with 5 though.

I don't know about during Free Dining, but last June our party of 4 walked up and waited about 10 minutes around 7pm one evening.

Thanks for the replies. We are traveling during free dining, although we will not be on the dining plan (discount at Yacht club was a better deal for us). We will be there BEFORE food and wine.

From looking at the menu, it looks like they offer individual, large (feeds 2-3) and 1/2 meter to share. I'm assuming the "metro mezzo" and "metro monster" are the 1/2 meter? And that should do it? Maybe with an appetizer. This would make this place a great deal for us as TiW cardholders. That size pizza is only 40 bucks! ($32 after TiW, which is cheap for Disney sit down for 5).

Although, as previously mentioned, the pitcher of Sangria will set us back $18 ($14.40 after TiW). That's 4 drinks for the price of 2.

Now I just need to hope that the pizza does not disappoint. Coming from Chicago, we are spoiled. It's hard to eat pizza away from home.

I think you will easily walk up if you go either early or late (not so sure about the 6 to 8 timeframe). DH and I eat here a couple of times per trip and we've had great luck as a party of two. I don't think you will be disappointed with the pizza, in my opinion it's not excellent "for Disney/theme park pizza", it's just excellent, period.

We tried for a walk up last June and were told they weren't taking walkups that evening due to staffing.

When we went we had 3 adults order the Metro pizza and we ended up with a lot of left overs! We were able to score a same day ADR last time, it was August during free dining.

I am also originally from Chicago and have traveled to both New York and Italy. So I have tried a lot of pizza.

Via Napoli did NOT disappoint me in any way. In fact, it became a must do.

Not sure what Chicago has to do with good pizza.

Chicago has some of the best pizza around. You can get away with serving crappy pizza in Seattle but I doubt you stay in business long in Chicago. Same with New York, New Jersey, etc...

DD and I were there a couple day before Easter and they had a walk up line, not sure of the wait? We split a large pizza and stuffed ourselves because it was so good, the 1/2 meter would be a good choice for 5. The pizza is very good thin style (like NY pizza)... nothing like chain pizza.

DH and I shared the large pizza when we went there. It was too big for us though. We could have easily split this with our kids, who were 5 and 7 at the time. It was 8 slices, and pretty big slices at that. I would say pretty close to the same size as a typical Brooklyn pizza we get here, if you are familiar with NY pizza. It is slightly different than typical NY pizza though. The crust is a little thinner and crispier than ny pizza. It reminds me more of the pizza we get at Lombardi's in Little Italy in nyc, which is Neopolitan. Thin crust, authentic sauce, and just a delicious pizza. The mezzo metro at Via Napoli is probably huge!

It's very popular.
Walk-in waits are dependent upon the time of day and which day, you can be as low as 15 minutes or as long as several hours. Don't count on no wait.
If you're going for a prime lunch hour or dinner, it'll be long.

We have eaten here many times and love it. 2-3 times have been walk ups even with our family of 6. We were turned away one time though. The best luck we had was showing up a few minutes before they opened for lunch and got seated almost immediately at 11am.
