Via Napoli Pizza Window

Are you the same person who started the "pizza window is a fraud" post yesterday? It's a pizza window run by Disney, not by the people who run Tutto - that's all. No different from any other bad pizza at Disney.

Good opportunity to remind DIS readers that the pizza served at the pizza window outside Via Napoli is NOT the same pizza served inside the restaurant. You may want to walk up to the window and take a look at the pizza before you get in line to purchase, if you are expecting Via Napoli pizza.

The logical assumption is that it is a take out window of the restaurant, therefore serving the same food. Several people keep pointing out how everyone knows it is not the same food being served. I don't understand why folks on these boards keep justifying the crappy mediocre, just fell off the back of a sysco truck food to the ridiculous prices they charge. The disboards fanatics always leaving me wondering WTH???? crap food at ridiculous prices, you are a captive audience and Disney is counting on that. I could and have eaten McDonalds all week when at Disney, at least their food is consistent and priced accordingly. What do I know though??? as I have a Michelin star restaurant 200 meters from my house, and eating there costs less than most table service restaurants at Disney. I am also served a great meal with no attitude and no tip is expected as they value their customers, and no, they do not have a built in captive audience.

Not sure how letting the guests know the pizza isn't the restaurant pizza is justifying anything. It is what it is. No sense getting mad about it. If you're reading this and you were thinking about getting the Via Napoli pizza window pizza, it isn't Via Napoli pizza, so take a look at it before you shell out money for it, and if you don't like the looks of it, don't buy it.

Guests were complaining that they couldn't get counter service pizza from Italy. Now that they can get counter service pizza, they're complaining about the type of pizza.

I wasn't justifying anything either - in fact, I said it was typical bad Disney CS pizza. I can find lots of good things to eat at WDW, pizza is not one of them. So we don't buy it there or anywhere else at WDW. But I think there's lots of food at Disney that I wouldn't put into the crap category, and the prices are on a par with any other similar amusement park type venue.

If your from Chicago, a Pizza Window is no joke - we've got quite a few of them.

That being said, coming from Chicago I know I'm not getting the pizza I know and love when I am outside Chicago ( although I will conceed NY is a close 2nd! )

It's just disappointing because people have been wanting take out pizza here forever, and when it's finally available, it's not worth it. It's way overpriced, not even bottled water or Mickey bar overpriced--much worse. To me it makes regualar Disney pizza look gourmet. I'll take Disney pizza, Sysco pizza and school lunch pizza any day over it. Never again. Yes, it's that bad/overpriced. Just my little dining review opinion of it. :flower3:

I personally don't care for the pizza at the window but love it inside .What we do if we can't get resverations at the Via Naploi is take a short walk or boat ride to board walk and get it from that window I think a hole pizza there is 17.99 and its not bad

I think saying it fell off the back of a sysco truck is being a bit generous.

I get what people are saying that Disney isn't obligated to serve the same via nap pizza but I disagree. The pizza window is connected to an authentic italian pizzaria which gives the illusion that the same style of pizza will be served. Disney is pulling a bait and switch on it's guests.

If the pizza window was a separate building and not connected to the via nap restaurant, I wouldn't be as upset about it. Because then there would be no expectations of the same pizza being served.

I never knew Disney was putting a gun to your head, making you buy their food. Disney allows you to bring your own food.....try that.

:confused3 When you go to CS attached to Yak & Yeti, do you expect to be served the same food you'd get in the restaurant, for half the price ?

I haven't booked a TS @ Y&Y because I assumed their Sweet & Sour Chicken served CS was the same stuff they served inside the restaurant & I would never have been able to justify paying much more than I did for average Chinese food. Is the food quality better in the restaurant?? If so, I may have to consider it during my next visit!!

It's not a bait and switch. You can see the pizza before you buy it. If you are familiar with Via Napoli's thin crust Neapolitan-style pizza it's very obvious that the thick-crust Sicilian style pizza served outside is not the same pizza. Don't buy the pizza, stop by Guest Services or drop Disney a line and tell them why, and if Disney can't sell the pizza they will either stop selling it or get better pizza. If they can't convince the Patina group that they need to run their own CS you're not going to get Via Napoli pizza to go anyway.

I actually have never eaten at either place, we're picky about our Chinese food, but from the pics & reviews I've seen on these boards, it's very different. Basically the stuff they serve at the CS is chicken nuggets with sauce and rice.

Personally I'd never expect a CS to serve the same food as a TS but that's just me. An extra $9 for a plate & fork seems a bit much even by Disney standards :)

This is how I feel as well. We all have eyes and can see the pizza they are serving. Granted you don't know how it tastes by sight, but if you are already familiar with Disney pizza, you should probably know what it's going to taste like. If you're unhappy, complain to Disney and don't buy it.

It wasn't being discussed what the pizza tasted like (the usual concensus from those who have tried it is that it isn't very good, and if it was good the discussion would probably be moot because nobody would be complaining) but that it isn't Via Napoli pizza and that the posters believe having the pizza window attached to Via Napoli would make guests expect to get Via Napoli's pizza. If you know what Via Napoli's pizza looks like, once you see the pizza served at the window you will be able to tell that it is not Via Napoli's pizza. I've been there, and seen the guests walking around with the pizza slices, and it's obvious that is not the same pizza they serve inside. I just got in line to be seated in the restaurant instead of buying the CS pizza (if it's crowded and you don't have a reservation, that may not work so well). Didn't occur to me to complain to Disney about it, but if guests feel that strongly they should let Disney know why they are not purchasing the pizza.

If you go somewhere and they have a side window, you expect the same thing to be sold at either place irregardless of the price. For instance, if I go to Friendly's for an ice cream why wouldn't I expect the same ice cream from the take out window as they have inside?? Why would the take out window have something different from the same establishment? Makes no sense. The initial appearance is they are the same and that is the allure to get you to go to it. Why is there no sign that says this is sicillian pizza? It is definately a bait and switch marketing tactic get real......

:snooty: All the to-go pizzas in Disney are pretty nasty. :crazy2: They all have that cardboard, cheaply made, taste to them and they have about three slices of pepperoni on a large pizza. i do not reccommend this pizza at all. But if you are dying for some, then head over to Mama melrose's, Tutto Italia, Bongos, Wolfgang Puck, or T-Rex. :thumbsup2

If you like a thick piece of bread with some sauce and cheese than Chicago is good

Back to the topic the pizza everyone else eats with a normal crust.
Pizza is very personal and everyone likes differnt pizza...
some find Dinsey pizza good and pizza served inside via Napoli bad...
I do not like either nor any pizza on Disney property or for that fact so far the state of Florida...
But why would as I am from NYC and we have good pizza and bad as well..
I enjoy Whispering Canyon as we do not have much good BBQ in NYC...

The point is I am sure out there are people who love the pizza window if you do not move on and buy something you like.... however at some point you will see a post about lots of people saying how bad what you like is...
