Via Napoli opening early

Does anyone know if this is part of the dining plan or not?

i was way off on this.... i thought it was counter service......it does not look that way by the menu

I thought so as well, I don't see the point in another TS in Italy myself :confused3

:goodvibes

I thought this was supposed to be a combo TS and CS. I was thinking that I had heard that you have the option to do a TS, but that you could get like pizza at a CS.

A counter service connected to the sit-down restaurant (a la the one in UK) serving pizza by the slice and gelato would be all kinds of awesome

Would love that!! Just grabbing a (hopefully) nice slice of Pizza and a cold drink half way round the WS would be great :cool1:

Looking forward to this. I just hope their pizza isn't the usual Florida pizza.

A 20 inch pizza is pretty big in the Real World, let alone a theme park. But the article makes it sound like a 1/2 meter pizza is even bigger than that! Any metric system fans here? I just can't fathom a 24 inch or larger pizza actually being served to normal human beings.

it would actually be just a tad smaller than a 20 incher

I too thought it was a CS/TS restaurant. Really looking forward to this either way. It would be awesome if it opened in time for our trip:D but they're not giving a firm date yet.

The link says the flour for the pizza dough will be imported from Italy... I also read somewhere recently that the water for the dough will be shipped in from Naples so it will be an authentic Italian pizza dough/crust! Can't wait to try it.

We are originally from CT and love the bread back east (especially from Manhattan) At the NY NY casino in Las Vegas they have a place where the water is shipped in from New York to make the bread and it is SO YUMMY!

I don't think they will be getting the water shipped in from Naples. Here's the quote from a recent official Disney blog.

"Wood-fired pizzas: made with caputo flour imported from Southern Italy, San Marzano tomatoes, handmade mozzarella and water from a local spring just like in Italy’s Campania region – 10-inch, 20-inch or 1/2 meter to share: a dozen choices, from a simple pizza Margherita with tomato, mozzarella and basil to carciofi with artichoke, potato, pecorino cheese, prosciutto and cantaloupe."

That looks to me that the water will come from a local FL spring. That has got to be better than FL tap water. ;)

Oh well... but like you say, it's got to be better than Florida water! :thumbsup2
