Has anyone any idea if I would have any problems book room with VH and not using it?
As booking cheap room with flights works out a few hundred cheaper than a fly drive and as I have a disney AP and DVC I want to arrange my own on site accommodation.

Hi!!

I don't know about not using the room at all - but our friends booked a hol through VH in May and for some reason it was cheaper to book the hotel for a week rather than 3 nights - so they left for their cruise early and just told the hotel staff what they were doing - no problem with that at all!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Hi - just thinking - Do you mean that you will do a VH, as in flight and cheap hotel without the driving/car hire option??:confused3

I'm just wondering if that would be an option with us - as we want to book Virgin flights but don't want a car when we go :confused3 (as we will independently arrange car hire for a few nights when we get there). Is it cheaper to do what you plan, rather than just booking a flight only through VA???:confused3

yes, I don't drive so use Magical express to get to our hotel. for our dates VA only have the non restricted fairs left at almost £1500 each . A fly drive is coming out more expensive than a cheap hotel and flight package for our dates.

I wouldn't have thought it would matter to be honest - Virgin have had their money so i don't see why it would be a problem if you don't use the room.

We have 10 nights booked with them, but I'm thinking of booking one night in a Universal Resort, and don't see it as being a problem (well, apart from paying for two rooms for the night :lmao:)

:goodvibes

We have just used 1 night and then checked out to go on a cruise.
I would do it but call in and tell the hotel when you get there (or ring them) I doubt they would but they might inform either Virgin or Police you are missing.
If the hotel knows I don't think they will care as they can re-sell and have their money from Virgin.

Its something we considered for Xmas, flight only was £900, Flydrive £700 and flight with hotel £580, we decided to pay a few pounds more and not take the cheapest hotel, we booked Fairfield Inn LBV which we like but at £580 way cheaper than other options.

We did this a couple of yrs ago just phoned hotel & informed them we would not require room(did this when we arrived in Orlando did not want to do it earlier incase they contacted virgin & it was a problem:confused3 ) as we were staying else where with friends also let virgin rep at airport know & gave them address of new accomodation which by the way was DVC accomodation. And there was no problem at all !We had virgin pick up and they even collected us from disney instead of i-dr.

We did this in May 2008 we booked a package with First Choice, Flight, car, and hotel, we arranged the car ourselves as it was cheaper than there free car (insurance cost) then we arranged a villa however we booked into the hotel and told them we would be travelling so would not be in much, however we did use the room as a base when we were doing full Disney days as it was nearer than the villa we just used the pool and showered and changed,

So, generally speaking (and I know this is very general!!:rotfl: ) - do you reckon booking a VH with the cheapest hotel will usually work out cheaper than waiting and booking a flight only with VA??:confused3

I was just wondering as I want to book my Dec 2010 flights as early as possible and they will obviously be out earlier through VH - if it is cheaper that way too then that would be a bonus!!

All you can do is look at the cost when they release prices.
When I looked for this Xmas I saw flight & Fairfield Inn at £580 (after 10% FVC & 3% Quidco) I estimated hotel was going to cost us around £100pp so flight worked out at £480. As it turned out it was a bargain as flight only never dropped much below £900 before they sold out. Even not using the hotel at all it was still good value but all dates vary. VH next Xmas might be way OTT and flight prices lower.
