From today VH are included in Tesco clubcard deals so for every £2.50 voucher you can exchange it for a £10 VH voucher.

That's good news but also bad news. Good news for any future hols we make take, but I've got £60 worth of tokens I could have used to book our holidays I've just gone and booked!

Hmmmm, I wonder if the Frequent Virgins discount can be used with this? Also would you have to pay when you book - thats 15 months in advance for me!!

I was wondering about the FV discount also - may drop then an email and find out! I reckon though I could get a £500 discount with these vouchers for my 2007 trip!

Have emailed them so will let you know!
These are the terms and conditions_

Tokens are valid on the Virgin Holidays brochures shown on this website. Tokens cannot be used against the Virgin Megadeals brochure. Customers must book with Virgin at least 21 days prior to their intended departure date. Bookings must be for a minimum of 7 nights and redemptions exclude accommodation only, flight only, fly drives, flight upgrades, car upgrades, car insurance, excursions, holiday insurance and any other optional extras. The total cost of your booking must be a minimum of £500 excluding optional extras.

All standard Clubcard Deals scheme terms and conditions apply, these can be found on the website.

The website shown is for information only and the fares or rates advertised on it may not be available when using your Clubcard Deals Tokens.

Interesting wonder if you have to say at time of booking you want to use them or can you wait til final payment as by then you will know how many clubcard points you have! This would be ideal for our New Year trip if I can use them.

Claire ;)

Was interested sounded like a good deal I though about putting seem to my summer VH but it looks like its when its booked and ?on FVC 10%, might not be able to double up.

I use Tesco Clubcard all the time to book Holidays.

I don't know the specific terms that apply to VH but generally this is how it works;
  • You call the company direct to find out about availability on the Holiday you want
  • You send/redeem online your Clubcard vouchers to exchange for the Holiday tokens.
  • Tesco send you the Holiday tokens.
  • You call the Holiday compny tell them you wish to use Clubcard tokens to pay for part/all of the Holiday and book using a credit/debit card to pay the standard deposit.
  • You send the Holiday company your Holiday tokens within a week of the booking being made.
  • If the tokens cover the whole cost or most of the cost of the Holiday the company refund your credit/card what is due.
  • If after paying the tokens in there is still a balance to pay that will become due two months before the Holiday (or however long before the Holiday the balance is due)
In effect this means that you have to have saved up your tokens well before you can make yor booking. I have used them this year to pay for a three night trip to Disneyland Paris and to book a week at Centre Parcs in Normandy. Wish I'd known about VH joining the scheme!:confused3

I have accumulated about £500 in club card vouchers using my Tesco credit card. I wasn't sure what to do with them- possibly DLP. I was excited to see VH joining the scheme until i read that it is not valid for flydrives! We own DVC so always book flydrive or flight only.

Can anyone think of how I could use my vouchers with VH? Perhaps book just one night accomodation? Any ideas?

I notice Tradewinds are also new to the Tesco scheme. They have Virgin flights, i think maybe that would work. I know Cosmos are already included, but we would prefer Virgin over Monarch.

Edited to add- Just phoned VH. The lady said I would need to buy a whole package so my only option would be to choose the cheapest hotel they offer, book the package and not actually stay there. She also gave me the tel no for the Virgin staff dealing with Tesco deals: 0871 222 1413. She said the Tesco deal started today and it has been very busy!

I guess I will wait to see if Tradewinds can offer me Virgin Flydrive. That would be the best use of my deals vouchers but if I did have to go with the Virgin package, it would still be a bargain for us. I am thinking of next May, but I dont want to book yet as I am pregnant and we are moving house soon so I dont want to commit to a holiday just yet. Also as DVC members who want to stay at a non home resort which could be tricky to get I will wait until our DVc villa is booked at 7 months prior to trip before i book flights. Usually do alright getting May flights anyway.

Thanks so much for the info about Virgin joining the Tesco scheme!

Mandy, I expect the very cheapest hotel would not come in at much more than the fly drive you know - I would certainly consider this and just not using the hotel :thumbsup2

Looking at brochure prices for this May, a flydrive is about £450 and the cheapest hotel package is £699. Still it would still be free to us, so I don't suppose it matters! I know that generally, when booking using Tesco Clubcard you have to pay full brochure price, no discounts or offers will apply. We would have about £2000 credit so for us two, one child and one infant it should be perfect. Or we could always blow it on a trip to NYC with Virgin (brief fantasy where I forget I am 7 months pregnant and mum to a nearly 3 year old!!!)

Still hoping to hear that Tradewinds will do Virgin Flydrive on the deal scheme. Don't know why Virgin wont really, with VH a flydrive did used to count as a holiday rather than a flight only.

Still, very good news about VH joining the scheme. We could possibly use the deal to book a Virgin holiday in a villa and do it as well as our DVC trip.

Here are all the terms and conditions on the VH website for the Tesco vouchers.
Not looking too good considering the exclusions that are tacked on ie not fly drive, not available with any other discount ie FVC.

Claire ;)

It's great news. However do I cancel my Virgin credit card, to get a Tesco one to earn points, or keep the Virgin card? I'll have to get the calculator out and work it all out. I never was any good at maths!

I was saving my points up for free wrist bands at Blackpool this summer. To get in training for the rides!! Now do i start saving for holiday vouchers. I suppose I could buy my mums vouchers off her for the wristbands, and then save my own vouchers towards holiday ones.

Last time I got my Tesco points though, I had to cash them in by the end of February, does anyone know why this happened, is it because I'm a new customer?
