VGT w/ restrictions - connecting rooms possible?

We'd like to do a Disney cruise as it's been several years since we last sailed with Disney. We are a family of 5 and much prefer connecting rooms (hotels and cruises) as it greatly enhances our experience and "togetherness." The only sailing that fits our scheduled is already past PIF and has a VGT rate with restrictions available (they assign room). Has anyone booked this type of rate, requested connecting rooms and gotten them? We booked this rate years ago, twice, and had great room assignments but only needed 1 room then. If we were to book regular rate it's about $5K more.

Honestly, it doesn't matter what anyone else has done/had happen in the past. VGT rooms do not let you pick your room or give specific requests (like connecting rooms). Some people have reported luck with VGT (or similar) and getting connecting rooms, but that has no bearing on whether you'll be able to do it. You'll have to decide which is more appealing: having connecting rooms or sailing on that particular date.

I'm not trying to be rude or snarky, just pointing out that what has happened to others in the past doesn't affect what could happen to you. That's true of most things with DCL.
