VGT for spring break sailing

I was looking for some options during our spring break 2017 and ran across a VGT rate for the Disney Wonder out of San Juan for that date. Rate is about $6300 for the 4 of us, which is substantially less than the going Family Veranda rate (about $9300). Also considering the Adventure of the Seas, where I can get connecting staterooms for about $5400 on almost the same itinerary.

Thoughts?

How old are your kids? Are they big Disney fans? Have you sailed Disney before?

A $900 difference would have me considering Disney. It's $225pp.

You get much more space on the AOS cruise. Are there other perks included on the AOS? Any drink plans or gratuities, etc? That would also enter in the conversation for me.

I mean, $900 is a lot of money to spend on board AOS before the costs are comparable.

Kids are 11 and 12, just on the very edge of the kids program. The $900 does not concern me as much as having two separate rooms and more space. Only one cruise to Alaska on Royal Caribbean- never been on Disney.

You could absolutely have some sort of blocked view, but not a Navigator's Veranda... they only sleep 3.

IMO, I'd do two rooms. When our kids were younger, I always splurged for two rooms (except CL - I we squished ). I had girls traveling with me so two bathrooms was a must. Space, privacy, ability to dress and not trip over each other.

Thought they had similar itineraries, but now that I look the AotS sailing for April 15th is San Juan- St Thomas-Kitts-Curacao-Aruba- San Juan, not San Juan- St Martin- St Kitts- Antigua-Lucia- Barbados-San Juan like the other dates. Those ports are less interesting to me.

We booked a VGT room 37 days out from sailing our Very Merrytime Cruise Dec 2014. We ended up with a 4E--- extended verandah. Now this is not always the case....as long as you go in knowing it could be anything from a navigator/blocked view to an extended---it's basically "luck of the draw" so to speak. I mainly did it because I knew that unless one of us died or became deathly ill we were taking that cruise on those dates, and I'd been watching, and the VGT price ended up being $200 less than what I had planned to pay for an inside room, so it became a no-brainer at that point.
