It must be the hotels pool, since DVC doesn't have one. The beaches pool is part of the GF but shared with DVC.

I have never been there so I do not know the layout of the pools

I would think that the pool being closed at the hotel would have some impact of the DVC guests.

Per the Refurbishment information here on the Dis:

Disney's Grand Floridian- The Beach Pool and the Pool Bar and Grill will be closed 1/2/2018- TBD. The Courtyard Pool and Pool Bar will be open. The Play area at the Beach Pool will be open along with the beverage station at the Beach Pool.

This pool is the one closest to VGF.

The pool is about 50 feet from the Villas. But the pool is not exclusive to the Villas. Hotel guests are welcome too.

There is another great pool about 100 yards away. The Beach pool is notable because it is zero entry and because there is a water slide. And cabanas available.

The other pool is larger and quite nice, but I do not think it is zero entry. Someone can correct me. We usually go to the beach pool because it is closer, but my daughters like the vibe of the other pool. It is more adult oriented. Also, the other pool is open all night (but this may have changed). The beach pool closes at 10 pm if I recall correctly.

There is an Alice In Wonderland splash pool next to the beach pool for young kids. I understand it will remain open.

This trip is just me and DW. Looking forward to relaxing by a nice pool. Which one would be similar but different to say the quiet pool at BWV?

The beach pool was there before DVC was built. So, no pool for DVC, just a shared pool with the hotel.

Yes.

The link in Post #9 above contains a map of the Grand Floridian Resort (including the Villas). The Beach Pool is letter U and the Villas is letter D on the map.

I'm not sure when it is closing, but we got notice that it will be closed during our December stay. So it must be closing prior to January 2018. If not, it will be a pleasant surprise when we get there!

According to DVCNews.com, the refurbishment was delayed and now scheduled for January 2 thru early April.

DO you anticipate this to be a major problem or minor inconvenience ???

We will most likely be getting to pool about 10 am and just staying there most of the day no parks this year.
Just don't have a feel for how big a disruption this will cause

Last time we stayed at VGF our room (std view) overlooked the pool (actually quite close to the pool). We have an upcoming stay in January (again std view) and am a bit concerned about noise if they are doing major construction. Any idea of what the refurb will include? Wondering what, if anything, should I request for a nice, quiet room.
