VGF chance July 2015

We are planning a family trip in July 2015 and will stay in 2BR accommodations. We are probably going to end up doing a 4/5 split stay. We own at AKV, so we will book at AKV at 11 months, but plan to make some changes at 7 months. We would not be there for the 4th --- more likely the last week of the month. The other "half" of the 9-day "week" would probably be at BCV or BWV, although we totally love stain at our home.

Any thoughts on the chance of getting a VGF 2BR for 4 nights, either F-Tu or W-Su, in late July?

It is a low to moderate DVC demand time. You will likely have a very high probability of getting a dedicated 2BR, both standard and lake view, at 7 months out. You will likely have a low chance of getting a lock-off 2BR, which can also be a studio and 1BR, because there is a significant risk that studios, and thus the 2BR lock-offs, will be filled for some or all the days you want.

Looking at the points requirements, I kind of hope we could get a standard view 2BR. We don't spend a ton of time in the room, and the 50 point difference for lake view just doesn't seem worth it.

I will plan to book it right at 7 months, so hopefully we will be able to get it! The place looks fantastic, and we happen to have some extra points to burn for 2015!

The standard views are pretty good at VGF. Pool, monorail.

Thanks for the feedback. The longer we think about staying at VGF, our plan is changing from 4 nights to 5 nights, so we definitely hope to get into a standard view to save some points! I just worry that if we start here and then move to BWV or BCV for 4-5 nights, it will be a let-down. Perhaps we need to finish the trip with VGF.

I think you are correct. The only bad thing I can say about VGF, is that some people might find it a little formal. Not me! We loved it! I don't think that any other WDW DVC property can compare.

From reading the OP it sounds very similar to what I am doing this July. I own at BLT and swapped out a week covering the 4th of July at VGF this year.

I did it at the 7 months window, plenty of availability then.

That's good to hear! We are looking at trying to get a 2BR at VGF later in the month of July, so perhaps even less demand than around the 4th.
