Vests for K9 officers (OT)

Whilst I think it is a great cause to put vests on the dogs, I do wonder why this does not come from the police budget :confused3

I provide veterinary care for a lot of working dogs and it comes down to money. The vests are pricey and many municipalities are unwilling to spend the money. In addition they can point out that dogs are rarely shot in the line of duty. They are more likely to be stabbed while apprehending a suspect which the vest doesn't help with.

While I am happy to help buy vests for dogs providing health insurance actually makes more sense. Many smaller towns aren't able to provide optimal care if there working dogs become sick due to the costs involved.

while I will be the first to admit that I am not an expert on this subject, according to the website, it will help with knife wounds as well.

Not only will it give you the opportunity to help provide bullet-and-knife-resistant vests for K9 officers throughout the United States, but also the chance to win a perpetually growing cash prize.
