I don't do games, so you won't find any of those on my list, but you will find:
Face Book
eBay
Weather
Google Voice
Google Earth
Sound Hound
Remote
Pandora
Find My iPhone
AAA Roadside
Red Laser
Weather Clock
Tripit
Trulia
Weather Bug
White Noise Light

All free (or at least they were when I grabbed them).

Apps not already suggested:

Free:
Twitter - I'm a junkie
Lose it! - food/calorie tracker with a great interface
Evernote - best app ever - keeps all sorts of notes, lists, photos
Simplenote - notepad replacement , syncs online
Wunderlist - to do list
Flickr - make sure to check out all the cool Disney photographers
Amazon Pricecheck - like this better than redlaser

Pay:
1Password - use this in conjunction with the Mac version to sync all my passwords
Momento - I love this app - its a journaling app that let's write diary entries and attach photos/videos
instapaper - let's you save long blog posts, etc and read when you want

I've had an iPod Touch for a while and was one of the first to get the Verizon iPhone (and I waited and waited for it too - so I understand your excitement :woohoo:) Since my roommate and I both have them and so do you and your DH - there are some apps that make running a house a little easier and some that are just fun. Here are some of my faves:

NoteSpark - an app for lists of things that you and your DH can share, edit, and work off of together.
OurGroceries - just like the name sounds, a grocery list app where you can have lists for different stores, separate by category, even have a recipe. This is shareable if you register the app on each phone to the same email address - and they synchronize!
LoseIt - food and exercise tracking, weight loss chart. You can have friends inside the app and share information and recipes.
Phase10
FaceBook
Pack and Go Deluxe (vacation lists)
AAA Roadside/AAA Discounts/AAA TripTik
PDFReader
Walgreens (awesome to refill meds and pick them up at any Walgreens in the country)
Pandora
Kindle (synch with my Kindle or use on it's own even if you don't have a Kindle)
Fruit Ninja - great game for kids if you need a short term distraction (fun for adults too)
eWallet - secure storage for website passwords, credit card/bank account info

Enjoy!

Forgot to mention Netflix --- if you have an account of course!

Oh THANK YOU :thumbsup2 I will be downloading all night. I figured out the Netflix on accident last night. It was so awesome to watch a movie I couldn't sleep.
:cheer2:

I am a fellow loyal Verizon customer who has been dying for the iphone to arrive :goodvibes

I found this article very helpful with picking apps: Top 10 apps for your iPhone 4 - http://www.tipb.com/2010/06/24/top-5-apps-iphone-4

I just asked this question on my FB a week or two ago :)

Here's a few of the best (IMO):

Springpad (organization)
Keeper (for passwords)
Chipotle (order from your phone, go to the front of the line - oh yeah!)
Grocery iQ - one of my favorites - can scan your barcodes for your list too
DirecTV
Google (uses voice recognition)
TripDeck
Eticket
Facebook
Trip Advisor
Southwest
MaqQuest - speaks directions outloud - if you have bluetooth, works as a GPS
Living Social and Groupon

Games for my 5 year old:
Paper Toss
Matches
Glow Draw
Doodle Buddy
Peggle

My teenager is mildly amused by Falling Balls.

On a side note, I love posts like this. I don't often take a lot of time to look at the app store to see what is out there and miss many of the awesome apps out there. When I see others that just *love* a particular app, I go and check it out. That is how I found Springpad and it replaced Notes for me. My iPhone has become my right hand. You really can't find me without it.

Has bought apps to organize and balance my checkbook...Now all I have to do is sit back and let it do it for me ;) If only it was that easy!

I basically am in love-love with my iphone. Here are the apps I have that I use regularly:

NYC travel apps: (I assume there are similar apps for other cities)
hopstop
exit strategy
itrans

helpful/utilitarian apps:
Accuweather
weather channel
errands
flashlight
FMC (this is just for the ladies. It's a "personal calendar")
zipcar
Gillian McKeith Bootcamp (weightloss app)
vegetarian scanner (you take a picture of an ingredients list and it tells you if there are animal products)
NYTimes
Iphone secrets
Iphone guide
Fandango
Fresh Direct
GPS Drive (I don't own a car so it's a GPS app for when I rent one)
iflypro (tells you when planes are coming landing and taking off - very helpful when picking someone up at an airport!)
mywireless
markthespot

Purely fun apps:
facebook
twitter
DCComics
Marvel Comics
opentable
shazam
nprnews
This American Life
Trivial Pursuit
*** Podcast App
Where's Waldo
TKTS
Words with friends (this maaaaay end friendships)
Katamari (I am addicted to katamari!)
nook (better than kindle app)
red balls of goo
NPR addict
Animal drums
foursquare

Disney Apps:
Hidden Mickeys
Mouse Memo
WDW hours
WDW Maps
WDW Waits
WDW Dining
TWiz
Lines @ Disney
Park Hours

yes, some are redundant, but looking at the hours etc helps me relive memories and feels great. Sometimes I like to see the wait at a particular attraction while drinking coffee from my resort mug :)

I've had many that I've deleted and more that I'm sure I'd add.

I want an iPhone, but I have to use dh's upgrade to get one. He told me that if I exercise 20 min every day I don't work (I work as a nurse, 12 hour shifts, excersing after work would be :rotfl::rotfl2:) for 6 weeks then I have his upgrade.

I'll keep an eye on this thread for the next 6 weeks.....

Emily
