It seems that Disney has decided to take away weekend AP rates. We are Florida residents and purchase our annual passes so we can take weekend trips. Now they are only offering AP rates Sun-Thurs. We are not happy about this at all and we hope Disney will reconsider offering weekend discounts again. If not we will reconsider renewing our AP's again.

That really sucks. We are DVC and get hit with extra points on the weekends, so we try to keep our trips mostly weekdays.

But for a FL resident who wants to do a weekend stay here and there, how disappointing. I don't blame you one bit for being ticked. I certainly would be.

I did not realize this was the case. We are Fl resident AP's, even though we also have DVC, we stay on AP discount a few weekends during the year rather than use the extra points. This is disappointing to say the least, and I hope that this trend wont continue...

I got a AP rate for the weekend on January 26th. ??? So confused here. I called and the weekday rate for Pop was $49, but the weekend was $69 (rack rate is $82). Then I was offered PO-FQ for $99 a night for weekend and weekday. I booked PO-FQ at the $99 a night rate for that Saturday night, but switched it to Pop to save the $30. While I know the weekend discount is not as good as the week day discount, it also has alot to do with the new room rates where weekends are much higher than weekdays, plus if it's a holiday weekend, it's higher yet. Peak rates are unbelievable, but the new round of discounts the week day rates for Pop for late February are $79 a night. That is a 33% discount from the rack rate of $119. I don't think we will see a better discount than this, it's just that the rack rate are just so darn high during peak season.

I forgot to mention, the AP website listed my night at full price, but heard a rumor that is was wrong, so called and sure enough there were discounts for the weekend too.

AP Rates on the weekend still exist in 2008.

Right here on the DIS.. The weekend rates are HIGHER but they are still discounted.

AP Rates..
* 1/1/08 - 2/13/08 - The Booking Code is FHD

The FHD discount begins at:

* $49 at a Value Resort Sun - Thurs
* $69 at a Value Resort Fri - Sat
* $99 at a Moderate Resort
* $149 at a studio at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs

Stay at the Swan or the Dolphin and the AP is still a deal if you are in the parks enough during a given 365 day period. We are from out of state but the AP is a great deal just on park admission for us. The resort discounts with the AP are not what they used to be and will not be unless there is a downturn in the travel industry like there was from the late 90's until just a year or so ago when travel hit pre 2001 levels again.

I just booked an AP rate for Saturday, January 12 at CSR. :confused3

I suggest calling and not using online booking. Apparently some of the prices can be lower when reserving by phone than what gets quoted online.

Earlier today I made a reservation by phone with an AP rate for the end of February for 7 nights at Caribbean Beach. I requested a preferred room in Martinique or Trinidad North. The Sun-Thur rates were for $165, which is a discount of $50 per night which is quite good. The Fri and Sat rates were for $205 per night and that is a discount of $20 per night. Although, not quite satisfied with the last rate at least it's something. So they are offering discounts on the weekends, but it's not even 10%. I just wished Disney hadn't gone to these increased rates for the weekends. They just don't have to offer much for discounts on the weekends, since they don't have to increase their business.

It would be nice if they offered steeper discounts to their frequent guests such as myself. Anyone else come across these discounts for Fri-Sat when making a reservation?

I can understand where they are coming from, by limiting weekend discounts, but personally, I think they should do a minimum stay requirement, so that people who are going for a week or more aren't penalized because of a weekend during their trip. After all, it's kind of difficult to book a seven day vacation without booking a weekend somewhere in the mix. If you are staying two weeks, then you've got at least two, and maybe three, weekends to deal with. If they know they are getting your money for that long, it ought to be the same rate all the way through.

I agree! I find myself now checking the prices for a week stay with my arrival day on a Sunday now, or my departure day a Friday. My week stays now just dropped to 6 nights instead of the 7 or 8. If Disney's plan was to make us frequent travelers come less often and stay for less days, it sure is working like that for us. We are also DVC members, but stay at the resorts on cash too. We now will just arrive on Sundays now and not bother to come in on Fridays and Saturdays. These new rates are sure discouraging alot of folks to booking weekends.
