Very Touchy Subject Question... please help!

Someone just had (a few days ago) a question about buying a ticket for a child who was turning three during their trip. She emailed Disney and got an official answer telling her that she did NOT need to purchase a ticket for her child who would be turning three after they checked in.

I would still switch to two rooms at the AS. You will have so much more room and it's nice to put the kids to bed and have a space for the adults to hang out.

By any chance are either of you a teacher or a nurse? If you are you could take advantage of the Swan/Dolphin $129 rate and you won't be as squished as it sleeps 5 very comfortably and has plenty of floor space. I know you probably would have thought of this if you could take advantage of it but I just thought maybe it was an option. Good luck:D

OK, no personal flaming here or anything , but has anyone thought about the reason why there's a limit if people in the hotel rooms? Fire codes. The towns , or cities impose restrictions, if not complied , these hotels can loose their permits.
I have taken my inlaws with me for two days to WDW , and I paid for the room, if I couldn't swing that cost , I just wouldn't have done it. And we have stayed at the allstars many times without a problem.
The ticket issue , as someone else said, I was told by disney if my dd turned 3 after we checked in, she did not need a ticket for that trip.

OK, this post is driving me crazy. This is not an issue of morality or immorality, it's simply an issue of comfort. If you're comfortable staying with that many people in one room. go for it. Disney will not lose money if you keep an extra person in your room. They WILL MAKE MONEY because that person will eat, drink and buy souvenirs on their property. Secondly, if your child is two when you check in, you're under no obligation to tell them she will turn three while she's there. Heck, they won't even ask. Go, have fun, do what you're comfortable with (don't stay at All Stars, they suck. Small rooms, bad service, etc.). Stay where you want, you're spending big time bucks and not ripping anyone off. Only the right wing moralists would disagree, and who cares?

Not picking on you, lucysdad, but several others besides you have stated that her daughter will turn three during the trip.

The original post stated that her daughter will turn 3 a few weeks before the trip.

We have reservations at POR from 7/3 - 7/10 then BC from 7/10 to 7/13.

We have 5 (me, dh, ds 7, dd 4, dd 2 (will be 3 on 6/16)) so we have reserved POR AB with Trundle Bed. I tried this morning (while securing the AP rate) to get another room at POR from 7/3 to 7/6.

Just curious what does Eisner have to do with it. Surely you don't believe he is the only person that gets revenue from Disney. What about 55,000 employees? Many of them hourly workers.

My take is the rule is: occupany for Riverside is 4 ( unless you have a trundle bed room) and unless one child "under 3" on the day you check in. More than 2 adults in the room and there is an extra adult charge.

I would not be comfortable with breaking the rule. You asked for opinions that is mine.

According to the OP the child turns 3, 3 weeks before the trip.

to the OP
I hope you don't plan on using EE while you SIL is with you. No room key=no entrance for EE. If you've already reserved the room then don't they already know that you DD will be 3. Would you really be comfortable in saying Oh BTW I made a mistake she's still 2, just to get you SIL in the room.

If you follow the other option suggested here (not reporting her as being in the room) IMHO lying by obmission is still lying.

As someone already mentioned max occupancy limits are usually set by the local codes, not by the resorts. It was metioned in other threads, that in the rare chance of a fire or other castropy, that the resort would not know to look for the unreported guest.

You've been given several options, but another option (if it wasn't mentioned) is a cabin at ft wilderness
Now, I offered to purchase her ticket (see another post) and decided on the 3 day/3 park ticket since I already have one hopper day left over on another pass. .
I hope you meant that she has 1 day left on a ticket. Tickets are non transferrable.

Go, have fun, do what you're comfortable with (don't stay at All Stars, they suck. Small rooms, bad service, etc.). Stay where you want, you're spending big time bucks and not ripping anyone off. Only
First ...AS's do not "suck" .
Second ...they would have more room in 2 AS's than in one room at PO, not to mention a 2nd bathroom.

Before anyone says if I was in the same situation, I'd do the same thing, you're wrong.
We had 2 rooms reserved at CR last May. DSi fiancee decided to join us for a couple of nights. They wanted a room to themselves. I could have easily fit DNi and DM in the room with my family of 4 for those 2 nights, but we all agreed that rules are rules, and if the max in a room is 5, then there was no way we would put 6 in a room. Luckily we were able to get a 3rd room for the first 2 nights. However when it looked like a 3rd room was not avaliable we booked a room at one of the DD hotels instead. We also had a room at POR reserved for our last night (CR was booked) when we thought that DSi was leaving a day early to go to Miami for the weekend. After we arrived DSi decided to stay in Orlando that last night. We could have kept that room and put 6 in it, but we booked 2 rooms at ASMu instead

Some good - some bad. IMHO I think you'll be squeezed in tight but if you're OK with that then do what you will. I'm a mother of 4 kids and I'm really limited to where I can stay at WDW without spending a fortune. But that's my problem - not yours.

I wouldn't switch to AS. Those rooms are small - even if you can get an adjoining room. Renting points seems too costly.

Personally, If you are going to put out an extra $25 for another grown-up I would upgrade to AKL or WL with the codes. The rooms are bigger and you can just 'manage' to slip her in.

To all those people that are flaming because it's a lie - Are you a saint or a monk or somethng? Everyone lies at one time or another.
Nobody is going to get hurt by your lie and your kids are just going to remember the great trip they had with their DA.

Wherever & however you stay - Have a wonderful time!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Everyone lies at one time or another

Sorry but this "everyone" does not.
I don't buy the "well everyone does it so its ok to lie" it is just a way for people to make themselves feel better when they do something they know is worng.

Now how exactly is that a solution? The regular rooms at AKL and WL have a maximum occupancy of 4. Where they are at now with the trundle bed has a maximum occupancy of 5. They have 6. It sounds like you're moving in the opposite direction there.

I don't think giving your opinion when asked is flaming. And I am not a saint nor a monk, but a person that tries very hard to do what is right.

Just my opinion.

I think the fact that you even asked for opinions and then continued to post after your OP is SIGNIFICANT. It tells me that you are uneasy with the idea of doing this. Otherwise you wouldn't be looking for justification from others. You need to chose to do the right thing. Your conscious is telling you what that is- don't ignore it.

I can't even begin to imagine sharing a room with 5 other people and one bathroom. Yikes! Too close for comfort. As for the opinion that overcrowding rooms doesn't matter and doesn't cost Disney anything. Think again. All the extras (towels, tp, water use, etc...) do add up with extra people. The maids also can tell how many people are sharing a room. I would definitely go for two rooms at the All Stars. You will appreciate the extra bathroom and tv-especially if not everyone goes to sleep at the same time.

I know this is a very touchy subject.. the OP knows it as well....I read this whole thread and up to the last two pages, I thought everyone was handling it with kindness... Please lets not lose that now...
She asked for alternatives and comments to what she was planning and let's keep it to that and try not to get into a moral debate over it..

I'm sorry if I sound like a broken record - I know many people have said this - but I just know from experience that this will be very very close quarters.

One year 10 of us were in 2 rooms there (we were legal -- they were the 5 people rooms with the trundle beds) and it was a little nervewracking. I think it would work if it was just you, your wife, and your kids - but throw in people not in the immediate family and it was kind of hard.

The next time we all went to WDW, we got 2 rooms at the Poly and could spread out a little with the bigger rooms - it was amazing how much it helped people relax.

Just my opinion, but make sure you all get along well enough to cram into the room like that!:D

That was my thought, too, Mackey Mouse. While the first responses were pretty much helpful, the past few are flaming.

Now, I offered to purchase her ticket (see another post) and decided on the 3 day/3 park ticket since I already have one hopper day left over on another pass. .

That is wonderful that you are getting her pass, and, yes, we share leftover passes as well with family members. Thankfully, there are no "Pass Police" at Disney. Of course, Disney wouldn't care!

YOU know what you are physically comfortable with. Go with your own ideas. You'll love Dixie, it is so beautiful there. You'll be with family, and it'll be like a giant sleepover for 3 days! Have fun and make wonderful memories!

Me again... op herself! ;)

This was going along great until a few sour posts, but that is ok. We all have our moral stances.

I am planning on calling CRO every day (lol) - free long distance... to see if July 3rd opens up. Right now they have July 4th, July 5th open, but not the first day. So, the CM said to call back and hope for a cancellation (WOULD SOMEBODY TAKE THE UPGRADE, PLEASE?)...

One reason why I won't move from POR is that we are already moving to BC on July 10th which would be 3 moves (3 AS, 4 POR, 3 BC)... WAY too much moving around! I WOULD consider it for CBR, but they also have nothing available. It would drive my DH crazy to switch so many times, but...

Again, thanks for all the support and ideas... I am much more worried about the space now than the moral hell of an extra adult. AND, she would have a room key since I would be paying for the extra adult (SHA-LYN). And, I have no problem giving her a one day hopper (rotflmao)... I bet you don't hand out extra fastpasses either since they are non-transferrable?

So, I will call CRO every day and check for POR first, then CBR (two rooms)... If nothing opens up, then I get to go to hell for the sole reason that my dd was born 3 weeks early! lol... Go figure $25 extra a night for an adult... POR with AP rate = $82 inc tax... not too much difference.

Thanks again,

Karen

I've been trying to follow this thread.

What would you do? Please don't flame me... I know it is "stealing", "lying", etc... but it would be fine if it was three weeks earlier (i.e. 5 plus a baby under 3)... Should I just tell them that the baby is turing three on July 4th (her actual due date lol)... I am just stuck since I want her to stay with us (at the same resort) but can't afford to go from $89/night to $200+ a night...

When you made the ressie, you told them that your daughter was going to be 2 right? If you had already decided to tell them that she was only going to be two, then you'll just have to add on the extra adult. I thought the mods only charged $15 for an extra adult, though.

Moral issues aside, I think you will be extremely crowded. I'd take the two days that they do have available. That would only leave you cramped for one day.

I love these board, but I am amazed at the moral police that come out of the woodwork when someone has a touchy question.
zakatak, stay where you want and tell WDW what you want. Some things are not a big deal - contrary to what you may hear. There are 2 major arguments from the moral police and they go something like this:
1. The fire dept will not know how many people are in the room in the case of a fire.
Give me a break - the hotel catches fire, do you think the firemen are going to stop by the front desk for a detail by room of how many people are there? hell no, they are going to dump water on the hotel and go room by room looking for anything that moves.
2. The argument that right is right,no matter what.
OK here we go. Anyone who thinks this has to also say that they never go even 1 mph over the speed limit - ever. Right and wrong is not a clearly marked line, regardless of what do-gooders like to say. People who say they never lie, are liars. Peope who say they always do the right thing are really saying they always do what they think is the right thing.
I always read posts like these, I always wait until they become someoone's moral outlet, then I post a response like this one. So, those of you who are better than me, go ahead and and quote me a few times and pick apart my statements. But, when it comes down to it, I'll just laugh at you because after all, we are talking about a freaking baby who was born 3 freaking weeks too early. Zakatak, save your money (or spend it on something else at WDW), and don't fear hell - hell is not full of people who tell WDW that their child is 2 when she's 3. It's full of people who judge others based on their determination of morality while ignoring their own integrity.
Wow, that was fun!
