My DH and I went to the Olive garden for dinner this evening. When we walked in, there was a long wait so we went up to put our name in and they gave us a little beeper thing. I used my DHs first name, just because it is easier (his first name is a 4 letter name, but sounds like a last name). My DH and I watched her write his name down.

We decided to go to the bar for a drink and a waiter in the bar asked if we would want to just eat there...GREAT, we were fine with that. So, I gave him my beeper thing to take back to the hostess and a minute later he came back and asked if our reservation was under "wendy"...um, how did he know my first name? (I did not recognize anyone there, not the hostess, not the waiter..no one) And how did he know we used a first name when we signed the wait list?

My DH and I just looked at each other all wierded out. My DH swears that he never used my name around the waiter or anyone else, he approached us as soon as we got in the bar, so it wasn't like he could have overheard us talking. Someone else waited on us, so we didn't end up having a chance to ask how he knew my name.

It was so wierd.

Just thought I would share, LOL Kinda freaky.

Sort of eerie, cool, fun all at once - I think God was telling you that he approved of your choice of the Olive Garden for dinner.

- Signed, a girl named "Dana C." who got engaged to a guy who lives on "Dana Court" ... and bought the house there two years before we met

Ok, that is freaky weird.

You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of the imagination. Next stop: THE TWILIGHT ZONE.

Hah, and you thought it was a simple night out at the Olive Garden.....

I didn't realize your name was Wendy. I guess I always read your name like poohandwendy (as in Wendy from Peter Pan-- wasn't that her name?) Anyway, am I reading tinto this right to believe your DH's name really is Pooh? (Hence your screenname?!) After all, "Pooh" is Winnie the Pooh's last name, right?! And it has 4 letters...

this thread just gets more and more weird! :rotfl:

I caught myself thinking of last names that rhymed with Pooh when she said her husbands name sounded like a last name. :rotfl2:

LOL, yes, my name is Wendy (and I was named after the Peter Pan character, my mother wanted to use Darling as my middle name also, but thank God she didn't).

When I decided on the screenname, I thought my DH and I would both use it, and he is a HUGE Pooh fan (i am too, but he is really weird about it) so he sort of 'is' Pooh. But that is not his first name and he never ended up posting here, but he does lurk. I will tell you, he would be honored if his name were Pooh.

Interestly, I was born on the anniversary of the day A. Milne gave his son Christopher his Pooh bear, August 21st (the day after Christopher's birthday). Some people actually consider that Winnie the Poohs birthday. Coinkidink.

LOl, his name does not sound anything like Pooh...I'll give you a hint, it is an unusual name and it is also a commonly used noun.

insert twightlight zone music.

You are just full of weird things!! That is really cool about your DH being a big Pooh fan and your b-day etc. If I were you, I sure would want to know how that guy knew your name! I mean, Wendy isn't the most common name out there. We could have fun calling you "Wendy, dahling" in our best Mrs. Thurston Howell the 3rd's voice though!! :rotfl2:

LOL, I am fullof weird stuff...another thing is that when I met him, he worked at Wendy's and had the job before I met him.

He thinks the Pooh connection is just a sign that I was meant for him. He is such a Pooh fan that his workers actually buy him Pooh coffee mugs and such. Funny thing is he is a really big guy, 6'5" and about 270 lbs. Imagine construction workers buying their boss 100 acre woods stuff for Christmas...kinda bizarre ya know?

yeah, I wish I would have found him and asked, but we sort of just forgot about it after being weirded out...

LOL, and how tortured I would have been as a child....

He worked at Wendy's??!! Now you are just too weird. That's just like all the biggest coincidences I think i have ever heard! *thud smilie here*

And weird to buy your 6'5", 270lb. boss Pooh bear stuff?? At that size, I wouldn't dare say a word about him liking Pooh. He can like anyone he likes!! :teeth:

Maybe there was another reservation under the name "Wendy", for some other couple?

Did he take the beeper back to the hostess? If so, he probably went to cross off a name with just two people and took a guess. We never give our last name as it is unusual. Given the names I hear called, I'd say about half are first names. Anyway, it is a coincidence but I doubt he just pulled it out of thin air.

Probably, but what are the odds that another table for 2 was reserved under the first name Wendy at the same time? If so...wow. You are right though, probably just a really weird coincidence.
