My DS6 sometimes has to "adjust" when he gets hot, and while I know this is a totally normal thing, I'd like to try to cut down on it while we are in Disney.

Any tricks you parents might have? Right now I'm thinking I'll just puff a little baby powder down his briefs a few times a day, but I didn't know if there was a better solution.

Thanks! :thumbsup2

Well I started to use Body Glide on my inner thighs during heat situations. It seem to keep things moving slowly and slippery .I have noticed less of a need for the Adjustment.

Buy him the next size undies. From what I am told by dh, the "boys" need a little more room then girls need. :lmao: That could help a bit. We noticed less tugging with roomier bloomers! :teeth:

Yup, see this all the time w/ my boys.

I like the body glide too. You can get it at most bike stores and can check for it online. Make sure you check prices as some places are much more.

I'm not a big fan of baby powder since I think if you get damp from the heat, it gets all yucky. Not sure larger underwear is always the answer as in the heat, I find the problem for my ds8 is that "the boys" stick to his upper thigh from the heat.

Try the body glide.

I go to parks first thing in morning when they open, ride a lot of rides with short lines, have lunch and then go back to room around 1-2pm when it starts getting hot & crowded. Then kids swim and we all have a long nap during the hot part of day! We then go back to the park around 7-8pm when it starts cooling down, have dinner reservations around 8-9pm, watch fireworks, maybe go on 1 or 2 rides that have no waiting line and then back to room.

Also, highly recommend waterparks you stay much cooler than at the theme parks!

We avoid the heat of the day. When it's hot we are usually in the swimming pool or napping in a/c room.

I am a 41 year old male. If he is anything like me, the heat has nothing to do with it. WE JUST LIKE THE FEELING OF KNOWING IT IS THERE. It's not sexual or anything else weird. My advice to you is ignore it. The bigger deal you make of it the worse it will be. Though he will get better at hiding it and suppresing the urge, it is something he will be doing for the rest of his life. Believe me.

:rotfl: You know, this was my first thought. I am the mother of two boys and one husband and every one of them do it. It's gotta be an inborn thing.

For the most part it is just that they have a toy to play with. :lmao: I purchased the boxer briefs for my boys. I find that they do not play as much with "thier coconuts" as they do with regular briefs or boxers on. DS11 and DS6 love the boxer briefs. Good luck and just don't think about it. :rotfl2:

No it's the ONLY thing (well without a knife) you Women can't take but we know you try so we have to keep checking.
You can take our money, time ,spirit, heartandsoul, even our sanitiy .But not our boys :lmao:

HAH!
My DS (6) is constanly checking and readjusting...and so does his father! :rotfl2:
I don't think it is a heat thing so much as they just like to make sure it is still there! I think, for us females, it is hard to understand having that extra appendage! I think that is why men hog the remotes too!! :Pinkbounc

You're cracking me up. Yes, I totally get that his "coconuts" (that CRACKED me up!) are just a built in play thing, but as he told me yesterday as he adjusted when we were outside (in only 80 degrees, mind you), that his testie-acles (yup, that's what he called them) were sticking to his legs, I don't think it's a play issue.

I think I'll try the body glide - thanks for the tips! I'd rather try that they have a potential paper machie' issue in his briefs.

`Oh and I got the AL BUNDY thing going on as well .

DW doesn't understand and I have to tell her I'm keeping in close proximity incase of an attack.

;) I agree that you need to reduce the friction rub to avoid skin irritation if he is complaining about it. The increased perspiration and warmth in that area can lead to a fungal infection or "jock itch". (I'm a nurse in a dermatology office, in case you couldn't tell!) An antifungal powder is a good idea if the area is moist and itchy, but if he just gets "sticky", the Body Glide is a good idea.

I agree that its normal for boys to make adjustments, but you seem to be picking up on the fact that perhaps he is "adjusting" more than you would expect. If the Body Glide doesn't work, let his pediatrician check to make sure he is not getting a fungal infection--just for peace of mind!

If everything checks out, then just ignore it!

Have a ball, er, a great time! :rotfl:

The "Paper mache issue" comment almost made me pee my pants - that was great!

(Fortunately, I'm a female so I didn't have to "check" to make sure I didn't actually pee my pants.......)

:woohoo: :rotfl: I got to admit that this thread has gotten funny!!
But I have to wonder if it is more of a chaffing issue. Others here swear by bodyglide, but I found that Arrid Xtra dry comes in a cream at Walmart and works very well.

Twingle,
My friend's husband swears by stick deoderant/anti-perspirant. He works outdoors in the heat and in jeans all day. I know it sounds crazy but he says it works! Go figure

My son is not bothered as much if he wears boxer brief underwear.

Where can you buy body glide? Never heard of it - but I guess I've never looked for it either :) .

I love this thread. I travel to Disney with 3 males 22, 23 and 10. They all do their adjusting, checking, whatever the case may be.

My youngest son use to wear the boxer briefs. He talked me into buying him, as we call them "Silky Draaaawwwers" :lmao: (silk boxers). I found a great deal at Target, under $2.00 a pair , so I picked him up 4 pair.

Anyway, he seems so much more comfortable in them and doesn't complain or adjust as much.

Has anyone worn these at WDW and do they make you more comfortable then the regular boxer briefs or tightie whities?

Incase of what kind of attack?? I guess I am a little lost. :rotfl2:
