I know this is very OT but I was wondering if anyone had a myspace? A friend of mine turned me onto it and it is addicting. Not as addicted as the DisBoard but I was wondering?

My kids both have a myspace. I keep a very close eye on them-a 14 yo girl was murdered here in NJ a few weeks ago-the police believe she was killed by a "friend" she conversed with on MYSPACE and eventually met up with. Just like anything else-be careful-don't give too much info and watch what info is avail about you online-is your phone number and address listed in the phone book? Have you been in the newspaper for anything (school, church, sports), are you listed in directories for school, activities, church that are avail online? I often have to find info about people and it is sooo easy. (Im a ER nurse and often have to locate next of kin/Dr. info on pts)

Be very careful on MYSPACE! Kids are posting all kinds of personal info and the "bad elements" of our society are getting lots of information to use. This is one website that needs to be shut down for good.

OMG! THat is SO SCARY!! I dread the days when my kids are old enough to want on the computer.

I thought it was fun, I met up with some friends I had in college; but I also have seen some stuff I would rather not see.

A tip for everyone regarding sites like these. You should frequently google yourself (real name) and your username; you would be amazed what you may have inadvertently let slip out into the public web.

The thing is, once out there, personal info is nearly impossible to remove, though sometimes formally disabling your user accounts will deter the more casual snoops. However, if someone really serious decides to find you, you will be found.
