Very o/t but when do you think kids

Our kiddo will be on our card until such time as I have a gorgeous grandbaby to feature instead :rotfl: .

In all seriousness.....DS will be 18 in January, and I have no plans to remove him from our Christmas card because he's growing up. If we have a nice family photo to feature, then it will be used on our Christmas card :thumbsup2 . When we don't have a great family shot, then we use the collage idea. We are family, even though our little one isn't so little. We all belong on the card.

When they are supporting themselves.

I have little ones so I can't really comment right now about how long they'll be on - knowing me, always since I love photographs.

My parents stopped adding us on when we moved out, however, when she does send pictures, we are all still included as she'll either add individual family pictures or include one group photo so she can brag :) (3 kids all with spouses and 5 grandkids)

I don't think they should be off your card until they want to be. I like seeing pics of everyone.

I think as long as they live in your home, they should be a signature on the card. I consider being away at college still living at home. Once they get their own place, they should send out their own cards. As for a picture on the card, I guess that depends...I don't think it is inappropriate to have a big family picture on it. A couple of years ago my in-laws had a picture of them, DH, me, our DD, and DH's brother. The card was signed only by them, but I didn't think it was strange. DH's grandfather (in his mid-90s) always uses a picture of himself and our DD (his wife died a number of years ago). I think that is cute.

I say until they are doing their own card, otherwise it would be redundant. We do picture cards and I don't sign them by hand. I kind of like the idea of us one day having us, their spouses and their kids all on one card, kind of like that Kardashians :lmao:

Last year we received a really cute card... well.... really more of a letter of sorts with different pictures on it, family, new grand baby, dog, really nicely done. These are friends we see maybe once a year, so it was nice to catch up their lives. ..... Also the letter wasn't look what we have or how much we have, more like.... catching up, showing off the new grandbaby, funny story about a visit to the water park, etc... Really nice

I think it depends on context. I like seeing the multi-generational family photos I get from some people.

When, say, an aunt signs her name, her husband's name, and a 30 year old cousin who doesn't live at home and I know has no clue she sent Christmas cards, seems a little sad.

This question made me chuckle because every year I get a birthday card signed by my sister and she puts her 3 kids' names on there, too. The thing is, her oldest is a college grad who is living and working in another state, and she sends me her own card. Same thing for Christmas. I don't get why my sister is still including her oldest's name on her cards, but if it makes her happy, who cares?

My aunt still signs my name on holiday cards, especially if its a group gift since I'm there for Christmas for a month. I don't have my own family, and I wouldn't be sending out cards of my own. I do live with her part of the year when I'm not in school to help her out.

If I wasn't there for the holidays, then it would be really weird.

My aunt and uncle (now in their 80's) do a collage picture card each year with the two of them in one picture and each of their children with their children and grandchildren (my aunt and uncle's great grandchildren) as separate families. I think it's sweet and a nice way to show each year how their entire family has grown. :-)

I agree with this. I enjoy seeing how people have changed over the year(s). I am on my cousin's Christmas card list, because we had grown up together, but I would not be on her 22 year old daughter's list because I live 4 hours away and didn't live close enough to them while she was growing up. I would still enjoy seeing my cousin's daughter on her Christmas card.

We stopped including our dd in the pic for our cards the year she married (although I would have loved to have done one with us, dd, and sil we never did have pics taken).
But this year we had our picture taken with our 6 month old grandson holding a sign that says "who needs Santa, I have grandma". These cards are going to extended family and friends who all know how crazy we are about becoming grandparents. Hope no one thinks its weird!
