Very Merry Christmas Party

We went last November, I think the 16th with the DGC and whole family. I think it was worth it. The line for Dumbo wasn't even that bad, and we were able to do the Magic Carpets lots of times. I think the worst part was trying to hear Belle's Story. There were just too many people trying to squeeze into the little area. I think they should find a larger place for it.

The DGD who was 5 loved, loved the fun at Madame Tremaine's ball!

PS. DH says we could skip it this year, but that could be just what he's saying now. I know for me, I would go again, and MNSSHP as well!

My opinion is the only one that matters! ;) :lmao: ;)
Go and enjoy it! We did!

Going this year the Sunday after Thanksgiving for six nights. So I plan to buy tickets on May 1st for a weeknight; which one do people recommend? I was thinking Tuesday Dec. 1st MIGHT be the least crowded during our trip...

I've never been to the MVMCP, but I've heard that the crowds can be a problem. I'd go if they'd limit the crowds somewhat.

MNSSHP sounds like fun, though, again, if crowds were not so bad.

We went this past year in Dec, we were able to speak to several CM's. Seems there is a problem with ppl vacating the Park when told too. we ACTUALLY heard one women tell her 3 children, If a CM comes over "hablo no english"! WHO does this? WHO teaches there kids this is ok to do? Well it got by one CM a very very polite CM, then an older CM came over, "mother" tried that again, didn't fly. He first asked nicely for them to leave then very firmly told them too. We were able to speak to both of them (the CM's) both expressed how many ppl try to do this and when told to leave how soon they learn all the english language or at least the vulgar part of it.

It was fun, other then those incidents, It is limited to 25,000 tickets seems like alot but in the MK thats not too bad. I'd do it again....Shawnpirate:

I can't tell you much of a difference the new way of closing the park and the original way.

The first few years we went, Disney closed the park. Everyone out of the pool closed, at 6pm. If you had a bracelet you could hang out in Tomorrowland.

Now they just nicely ask everyone to leave. Infact I've seem people post, in other forums, about making Dinner reservations without Tickets, at like 6:45, and then just "eat slowly" so you can walk out before the fireworks watch them and then leave the park. Or turn left out of CP, and exit the park via Adventureland.

Disney HAS to go back to the old system, or something like it.

But paying $50pp for the party and knowing how many people just "overstay their passes." It really drives me nuts.

When we went this past December CMs were setting up "roadblocks" along walkways and in stores, outside restaurants and checking bracelets. We were stopped several times. We were surprised, but pleased, to see that.

DVCGeek- I am going that same week as you are and thinking of going to MVMCP for the very first time on the Thursday night (if the dates work out the same as previous years) and the way I look at it is this: it can't be as bad as the weekend nights or the weeknights just before Christmas, so I think we should be good.

As for people staying behind to take advantage of the same parades and party that the rest of us pay extra $$ for, well that is just selfish and kind of annoys me as well. I will be going with my DH, DD and my wonderful parents so I will try to ignore them but if it is excessive I will probably be irritated.

Same here. We did both the Halloween and Christmas parties last year and plan to do them again this year. The Halloween party is great fun for seeing all the creative costumes people are wearing. And I loved doing the trick or treating for the first time in about 40 years! :rotfl: If was fun.

I like that they check bracelets and ask people to leave the park if they're not wearing one.

We went last year the friday before Thanksgiving, in fact we started our vacation a day early just because of the party. Our two DD's (8 & 5) loved the decorations and the snow when it fell. Oh and the hot chocolate and cookies were a big hit. We saw the showing of Mickey's Night before Christmas, and Bayou to this day teases me cause I was staring in wonder at Mickey at first and when he asked me what I was staring at so intently I said to him " Is Mickey's mouth moving?" (my big duh moment)
But the party was worth it and we are going again this year. But this year we will pack heavier coats, cause this year Mommy isnt sharing hers.

OK -- I give up. Where did you find the dates for this year's MVMCP? I can't find them here or on the WDW site. Thanks.

This is from someone that has been to MVMCP numerous times. Sometimes even twice in the same trip.

This past December, we went on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (Dec 5th I remember?). This was not a DVC discount night therefore implying it was suppose to be a busy night anyway. We just couldn't work another night in because of our trip calendar. This was the only night that worked for us.

Clearing the park has become an unadulturated joke. Even some folks I overheard talking said they never buy tickets anymore and that those of us that did were getting ripped off since they got to stay the whole time anyway and just couldn't drink the kool-aid (hot-chocolate). I kinda have to give them their props. They are right. You can't ride attractions anyway for the crowds. It's like EMH on steroids. If you can't ride rides and you don't drink cocoa, why pay the bill? I never saw anybody even close to being run out.

My wife, DD4 and I love the MK at Christmas. It's why we go. There's something magical about the Christmas parade at night and the snow on MS and holding your 3YODD while watching it all. I can't deny that but it just isn't any fun anymore; at least not for us.

We swore down that we'd never do it again as much as we used to enjoy it. I know we'll break this vow and probably numerous times since our DD is only 4 now but you get my drift.

I would love for my DD to see MVMCP like it used to be just one time. But alas, this is true about a lot of things at WDW lately, isn't it?

Some of us had the bar raised too high by Disney years ago. I don't tolerate having my expectations lowered in the name of change very well, I guess. I'm not a very good "go with the flow" kinda guy. My standards are too high. I didn't make'em that way. Disney did. It's why we don't do Six Flags or Universal.

Just my $0.02. YMMV.
