I am DVC member debating whether to book over thanksgiving 2025 or Dec 19-24. The latter will be cheaper both points and flight wise. My understanding is christmas week the very merry christmas party won't be available but some stuff from the party will be in regular magic kingdom day. Would love thoughts on difference between party experience vs. Christmas week.

Please direct me if there is already string about this.

Christmas week MK has the Christmas parade instead of the Festival of Fantasy, and the holiday fireworks instead of Happily Ever After. We’ve gone that week and have enjoyed that entertainment included with the regular park ticket. Not included are the special character greets, the free cookies, the special holiday food for sale only during MVMCP, and the possibly shorter standby wait times for rides, including Tiana’s which you currently can’t ride standby during regular park hours.

Do they continue the speedway, space mountain, tea cups overlays after the last party? (Dec20th)

I have been the week of Christmas and the week between Christmas and New Years. Both are different experiences. I would recommend going then if you haven't experienced them. But the crowds during those weeks can be awful. The only time I've been to MK during a closure was on New year's eve. The parking lot closed early in the morning and it even closed to resort guests at times during the day. It was worth experiencing but I go to the Christmas party now instead. I'll be doing the one on the 10th I think this year.

They did in 2023. the last party was on a Friday night and on Saturday (12/23) the overlays for the rides were in effect.

They did last time I went that week. We rode speedway and all the overlays were there.
How about the “snope” on Main st post party? Wondering since we’re attending the last parties and staying that weekend what is the real focus for the party night. Thanks:)

Update: I am still debating. I have til christmas day 2024 to decide as that will be the 11 month window for when id book thanksgiving 2025. But I am leaning towards Thanksgiving because it seems like the party experience (considering jollywood nights at this point in addition to very merry) will be far superior to a regular park day christmas week. I am a Disney Adult DESPITE my absolute hatred of crowds and lines-i always do lightning lanes and rope drop-and I am afraid those strategies won't cut it christmas week.

Christmas week crowds have a way of making the parade unenjoyable. It really comes down to your wiliness to be packed in vs freedom to move about.
