So I got a 40% pin code and started looking around at dates. I compared the pin code price from Disney which is supposed to be "THE coveted discount offer" vs. dvcrequest.com prices and what I found was kinda shocking. (DVCrequest is a website that rents to anyone. They charge $13 a point)
AKL villa savannah view was $2314/$3483
BC villa $2197/$2865
WL villa $2197/$2670
I compared the same dates with each website. Te cheaper prices were NOT with the 40% pin code but with DVCrequest.com. I have rented with them before and had no problems. This was my first 40% code so I was pretty excited:banana: but now that I've done my homework Disney can keep their offer:confused3. I will continue to use DVC request:worship:. Hope this helps someone else to save a few dollars

Yes, but keep in mind you are not truly comparing apples to apples.

Renting a reservation from a member (whether directly or through David's website) carries greater risk, stringent or no cancellation policies, less availability to make changes, etc. That's part of the trade-off, less cost for greater risk.

At the same time, it has benefits - less expensive, bigger room, etc.

But I agree it's best to consider all the options out there and figure out which one makes the most sense for you, along with your own comfort level.

And renting does not include daily housekeeping (trash & tidy every 4 nights, complete clean every 8 nights) or pay separately ($30-$60 per service depending on unit size).

The Villas are NEVER cheaper directly through disney. Always best to go through owners either here on the rent/trade board or through David's or other avenues.

the 40% is best for the on-site WDW HOTELs. :thumbsup2

Swan and Dolphin carry their own great discounts ....

And fyi Windsor Hills and other offsite villas are usually cheaper than any pincode or DVC deal. LOL. :thumbsup2

Maybe that was just with your particular dates/resort choices. I got a 40% off PIN code as well, and when I went to price it out, the Disney website offered me a 2BR at OKW for $342 per night. The same villa at David's was $460 a night.

If that is important to you, you could add daily housekeeping and still be ahead. :confused3

For me, being risk averse, I still see the room as a better bet.

Plus, I would need a two bedroom villa vs. a single room at say just plain BC vs BCV. I don't cook on a vacation like this and I don't spend all day in the room so I just can't justify the giant room. So the savings on a single room w/40% vs a villa on points are huge. A standard Garden View room at the BC would run me $1761 at 40% vs $3619on points for a 2 Bd Rm Villa for the same dates. However if you really, really like that big room than I'd say go for it.

DVC offers studios so why compare the cost of a 2 bedroom??

And I agree, you could pay cash for daily cleanings and still ave with a point rental.

Well, you can't sleep five in a DVC studio, but you can in a BC studio. Technically, with the BC you'd need the two bedroom for five (but as I know you know, they'll let you sleep five in a one bedroom, but bring your own air mattress).

We have done value resorts, a moderate and several of the DVC and for our family it works out better to stay in the DVC. We travel in off season so typically it is cheaper for us to stay at DVC rather than onsite anywhere else. We even were able to get Saratoga for $56 a night one year. It still is my husbands favorite =)

Not exactly true...

Last March I got a 45% discount on BLT (the deal at that time was 45% villas, 40% deluxe, 30% mods, 25% values) and it ended up being 5 bucks cheaper that renting at 10 bucks per point, so I booked through CRO. I didn't have a PIN, it was the advertised special at the time. It still cost me 900 dollars more than staying in 2 rooms at SOG and I won't do it again, but I was glad to try it out and see what all the fuss was about :thumbsup2

If you rent points thru that site, can you still get tix and dining plan? How?

Yes. It is basically a room only reservation. I am not sure how thru that site but when I traded into DVC, I added the dining plan thru member services. I got my tix thru AAA so they were a bit discounted. When booking dining with DVC now it needs to be paid for when you reserve not when you check in. I forget the exact amount but I think it is about $45 per night per adult. I'm sure someone can come along with the exact cost though.

Exactly. We're a family of 5 and I want the DP so no sneaking someone into the room.

If you have 5 in a 1 bedroom villa can you still add the dining plan?

We booked a 1 bdrm at BWV and were told it wouldn't be a problem!

So this website is completely legit? Has anyone else had experience with using it? In the notes on the website it says it's done through Canada and some CC companies in the US charge a cross-the-border fee. Anyone have experience with this? How does it work? Do you book through the website and they send you a reservation #? Does Disney then have a record of this reservation # if you call to make dining reservations, etc...? You can't make changes once booking, right? Do you have to pay in full when booking?

Thanks!

First off there are DVC studios that sleep 5 (w/o an air matress). Second, the DVC Studio rooms are the same as the regular rooms, so if you are going to bring do the air matress route you could either way. 3rd, if you don't want the kitchen you could always book 2 studios. 2 studios is cheaper than a 2 bedroom.

Yes, it's completely legit. They are a DISboard sponsor. Go over to the DVC Rent/Trade board - they (David) has a sticky @ the top of the page with more information.

This is incorrect. There are no DVC studios that sleep more than 4+infant, even if you are a member.

Only 1 BRs have 5+infant as the occupancy limit. And for member reservations, that would be all 1 BRs - either the ones with the legitimate occupancy limit of 5 (because they have a sleeper chair) or those with the limit of 4 with your own air mattress.

For those booking these through Disney reservations (not David's rental service), the occupancy in a 1 BR w/o the sleeper chair is only 4+infant, the same as a studio.
