I have been so bothered by the implementation of fast pass plus after my nov trip that I recently started reading here.

I sometimes stay on site, but usually offsite. We have family in Tampa. We bought 10 pack no expiration park hoppers a few years ago because we often popped over for one day of our vacation from Tampa. It seemed a smarter move than paying gate price for single days.

I wrote an email expressing my displeasure with the new system and how my very expensive ten pack for me and my family has been greatly devalued.

I received a response that they are sorry I feel that way and that it was always Walt Disney's vision to continually improve the experience and the technology.

I wrote back that i thought it was shameful to use Disney's vision of "plussing" in this way.

We are not even looking forward to using our remaining tickets. We will mind you, but we are not in any hurry.

I have read lots of post. Some love it some hate. People who love it hate the people who hate it an vice versa.

For me, the cost and benefit just doesnt add up. It is a raw deal for a park hopping offsiter.

Ill continue to read here and see if it gets any better. Ill wait for the dust to settle and see what it looks like before planning future trips.

I can understand your viewpoint and in some ways share it.

But to the bold, I am a passionate poster on this topic, but I most certainly do not hate any one on the "pro" side. There are maybe 2 (or 4, depending on how you count them) who are truly exasperating, but that's as far as I go with that. No hate at all.

Anyway, :welcome:!

I'll agree with the idea that some love it and some hate it, but I don't think that transfers to them hating or loving people who disagree. Like mesaboy2, I don't hate any of them. And some of the ones I find most annoying on the subject, I often agree with. :upsidedow

Welcome to the Dis, and thanks for adding your opinion. :thumbsup2

Thank you for the welcome!

I have probably been seeing the same "super" haters and "super lovers" then. I was also probably being too literal in my post. Im sure you dont personally hate them...But it does seem to get quite heated and personal sometimes!

Honestly I can see it having benefits for a certain segment of visitors. Obviously I am not in that demographic.

I agree with you. At least with Legacy FP it was a level playing field. Offsite vs onsite didn't make a difference. FPs were available to anyone who chose to use them. You could grab a FP anytime of day, for as many rides as offered them, as many times as you wanted unless they had run out regardless of where you decided to sleep for the night. Let's not even talk about the complete negation of Park Hopping, or traveling with other groups of friends that happen to be staying offsite while you stay onsite. To an extent most spontaneity is gone. I have no idea what time of the day I'm going to be in Tomorrowland. Why do I need to schedule it? Oh well. I could go on endlessly. Just know that there are many on these forums that agree with you whole heartedly.:goodvibes

Thanks for posting your opinion. Granted, there are some on both sides who are pretty passionate about their views, but I don't think anybody hates anybody.

Okay, maybe a couple of people hate each other. Perhaps a few. Come to think of it....probably a lot.

But we were recently told that "most" people love FP+, so that should help make us all feel a little better.

Anyway, I was going to suggest that you use the hoppers to your advantage by going Standby at one park early in the morning and then use FP+ at another park later in the day, but that obviously only works for people staying on-site right now.

A bit of some bright news, however - we've also been told that this is currently just a "test" and that these things have the potential to change at a lightning quick pace, so maybe by the time you decide to use the rest of your tickets, you'll be able to reserve some FP+ in advance! Then again, it's been like that since last summer so...maybe not. :confused3

But welcome to the Dis, where everybody hates the same! Or knows your name? Or stays the same?

One of those. Cheers!

And one of those would be me. ;) Good reply MinniesYooHoo!

There's always a few apples that turn things sour...:rolleyes1 That's on any board. Have you ever been on other travell boards...yipes. There's definitely a love/hate vibe among some!

I've been trying to "fathom" if PH would even be in our future trips any longer. They might be, but only after arriving would I add them if I thought we would be able to adhere to their schedule. They are certainly even more time dependent (time of day I was able to schedule, based on what was available) to even consider a "hop."

I don't know yet, what to continue to expect from this. It still seems so disjointed and "messy." I keep waiting to see...but alas, they are still tweaking and will for many moons.

The DisneyBlog has a good article and I'm waiting to read more updates before we take the Disney plunge again.

This is kind of unfortunate because regardless of what Disney thinks, we stay on property. We'd go back every year. This year we wanted to go twice. Now we are not going at all and I'm not the exception. I know many who stay on property who aren't going now. I think Disney is missing the boat on this group of park goers. They are so concerned with getting the off property park goers to stay on property, that they've neglected to see how those who already stay on property are so put off, they've cancelled their trips.

The "hate" you call it that I have for anti-FP+ people is purely to those who are over the top and not really connected to the facts as I know them to be. I am Pro-FP+ and feel that changes will be coming to correct for some of the "issues" people see by not being able to get 4+ FP+ per day and at different parks.

To clarify what sets me off:
1) You HAVE to make FP+ at 60 days or you can't get any rides
2) I can't go seat of my pants like I used to around the park and just pick up a random FP during the day
3) Why won't Disney just give me 4/5/6 FP+ right now!

Well I might set you off then Seth! haha

When we come for one day from Tampa, we usually pick a weekday and we usually wait to see what the best weather will be. We are the seats of our pants peeps in that way. We were never super fp user. Usually just a 3-4. But, at Epcot, Soarin was the only thing we fast passed, sometimes repeatedly. Nothing else really was must do for us (except the mexican boat ride...sorry, we love it!) Then we might pop to HS and get a couple for Tower of terror (we would get 2, i hate it, hubby loves it-he would use mine) That simple plan of 2 or 3 soarin rides and a couple tower of terrors isnt really feasible now. we usually got to epcot around 10:30, so not rope drops...Our butts werent getting up that early to drive from Tampa :)

I CAN see the benefit for some...I truly can. but I think there are more people like us than some want to really acknowledge. We also have done 3 onsite stays in the last 6 yrs...including an amazing honeymoon stay at beach club where we were named family of the day! But even then we are take it as it comes people. We usually decided what park we wanted the day before based on weather, mood. We have little ones, so the weather often affected the decision.

It is almost as if I am more mad for the first time visitor that wont know that fast passing small world or muppets or maelstrom is a stupid idea :)

I think our remaining tickets will be used at AK or MK in the morning...then Food and Wine fest at night.

We have the water park tix with our non expiring...and we have almost all of them left. We are thinking we will use our one day visits on that for the next couple years. Is any of the this fast pass stuff (besides the bands) coming to the water parks...Please tell me i wont have to reserve a tube on the lazy river...

And strike the word hate. I dont mean it in the true sense. Just obviously a lot of passionate replies. Which is expected...it is an internet forum after all :)

Well I might set you off then Seth!
To clarify it's those seat of pants people who try to claim you can't just decide FP+ as you go about your day. (No one knows about level 10 days yet but we shall see if it's worst than normal for people overal)

I see the point of 3 max FP+ and that's a bad side but you don't seem to be overacting. Also being your from the area sorta you have the ability to wait on weekend trips until they make the changes to FP+ like park hopping or increasing the cap or removing the tiers.

Trying not to over react.... but I did tell Disney we were planning to buy another ten day non expiring next yr, but not now. I actually told them I felt guilty complaining because we have had wonderful trips. But like anything in life if the cost outweighs the benefit it just isn't worth it anymore for u. Hopefully next yr its better..but I'm not that optimistic.

We are not locals. We just visit family once or twice a yr. Currently sitting at home with a yard full of snow.

I can understand having on site benefits ...but for a one day off siter with a park hopper I just can't find the upside

I don't hate anyone either but I do find a few beyond frustrating and I see those on both sides of the discussions. I dislike the assumption that everyone should tour in the same way and that everyone should have the same priorities. Of course that isn't true but it's impossible to get that concept across to a few people.

But that aside, welcome! I am much like you in that I've been a hold on future trips and I'll be watching to see what develops.
