We just decided today that it is looking like we will be able to take a very last minute trip to Disneyland June 27-29! My husband will be there for work so it will be just my daugher and I the first two days and he will join us on the 29th. I have been once but it was NOT during the summer...crowds were very minimal weather was great. I have always vowed that I would not do WDW or disneyland during the summer but now that this opputunity has come up I think I can put that aside to be able to go!!!:cool1:

I know you all are very helpful with all of this and cant predict it exacly but how bad will the crowds be on those days?

What is the weather supposed to be in a couple of weeks?

Also tips about the new things that were not there when I was there last....WOC, ST, little mermaid (which is a must with my 5 year old!)

Also just any helpful tips to get the most enjoyment going during a crowded time would be great! I tend to get stressed out a little and since I will be doing it by myself I want to be as prepared as possible! I am trying to read up on alot but getting overwhlemd by so much and so little time to get prepared!

On more thing....what is the cheapest place to buy the 3 day park hoppers....I remember last time we bought them from somwhere and printed out the vouchers but can't remember where we bought them from.

Thanks again for any help and tips! I am so exicted!!! :yay:

Hi Angie

I want to recommend WOC (pre order picnic w/reserved seating if possible) however, when I went last year there was a mom with a little girl about your daughters age and she ended up having to leave because her daughter was scared, maybe of the loud music (I think she was really tired too). I just felt so bad because they had waited all that time for the show to start.

The Little Mermaid ride looks adorable and perfect for your daughter. I can't wait to see it this October. Crowds? I imagine it will be really crowded but who knows. In 2007 we went in June (early June, maybe a lot of schools were not out yet for the summer) and it was'nt bad at all. It was less crowded then when we went last November.

I am really excited for you! I know you will have a blast.

Buy your tickets from Disneyland.com soon because it appears they will go up in price on Sunday.

Ride ST at opening right away, and or grab a FP to ride it later in the day.

Ride LM right at opening, DCA opens at 9:30 so go in and get in line and get it out of the way.

For WoC take look at the superthread, it will take a bit of planning and consideration on how you want to do it.

Hi Angie, I can't offer any advice on the time of year, as we always go at the end of Oct., but I wanted to let you know that we always buy our parkhoppers from ARES travel online. They are $5.00 less per ticket than DL, and although it's not much, it's still money saved for something else. ARES' price for a 3 Day PH is 181/160 verses 186/165. However, DL prices are going up on the 12th, so purchase before then! Hope this helps! Relax and have a great time!

- Will you be staying onsite or offsite? (Have you selected a hotel?)
- What do you & your daughter like to do at WDW? (how old is she?)
- What do you NOT want to do, or like to do?
- What time zone are you coming from?

Regarding crowds.....crowds are always more managebale if you:

- get to the park EARLY.
- hop to DCA if it gets crowded at DL (plan to each day)
- take a mid day break (rest, pool etc.)
- return with a handful FPs & enjoy the parks in the late afternoon & evening.

Also, weather is a zillion times better (less humid) in the summer at DLR than at the resort in the swamp. Might even need a sweater at night. Plus no bus stops or buses to deal with.

Here's some good info for the WDW veteran:

Regarding touring DLR....the two most important things to remember is to:

- Get to the parks BEFORE opening &
- Know how to use FP at DLR.

30 minutes early is typically when security opens (so getting in THIS line 5-15 minutes prior to security opening is best). Being one of the first 8-10 families at Security will get you up front (probably first thru third family) in line at the DL turnstile. Being very near the front of the turnstiles is important (to me) so that:

- For MM I'm first on Peter Pan...if i'm first on PP then the rest of MM flows easily. & even if i'm not doing PP, i would want to be first on Matterhorn...or SM (or whatever) during MM.

"Critique of MM/EE" www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1392671

- Even on a non MM day, I want to be one of the first few the turnstiles so i can get to ST, SM (or Indy) FP machine first (to start the FP collection clock). Then we'll hop on our first ride a minute or two later & begin the important first 90-120 min. of the day at DLR.

If you have kiddos ages 4-11, then Jedi Training is a must:

Regarding getting to the Security Tent 35-45 min. prior to general admission (or MM) opening.....in other words... 5-15 min before SECURITY opens:

The one time that I strolled up 5 min. before MM opening (instead of arriving 35 minutes before opening), I was way back (40-50 families back) at the turnstiles when i walked up. 2-3 rides could have been ridden by the time I've made it thru the turnstiles 10-12 min. after opening.

Plus there's lots to do while you wait the 30 min.... Pics to take, maps (& touring plans) to study, sunscreen to put on, McBreakfasts to munch on, people watching to do, talking to others in line who are as pumped up as you.

Have a great time at Walt's park. :thumbsup2

Thank you all so much!!! We do have our hotel booked...it is offsite b/c it is with my husbands job.....The sheraton park.
We love to do almost everything at WDW....she is 5 so she loves all of the fantasyland stuff but is also a daredevil....we were at WDW this past Dec and her fav ride was expedition everest and tower of terror!....she is tall (44") so she is able to ride alot. She also LOVES the charaters....we have waited in so many lines so I am a little concerned about how much time will be spent waiting to get those autographs and pic! (I am guessing Rapunzel, the princesses and fairies are pretty long lines?!?)

We also definitely want to do WOC, the new Ariel ride, ST and the new parade....is the light parade still there too?? We love the parades and dance party parades!

We are coming from Texas so we will have that 2 hour time change that I dont know if it will help some or hurt.

I am looking forward to the anti-humid weather....we did WDW once in Sept and I just about died from the sweat! crowds were low but the humidity was crazy!!! being from TX we are used to the heat but we are dallas area so not too humid.

Thanks again for everyones help! We are getting excited!!
