I booked a trip for Disney for Dec. 31- Jan. 5 as follows:
Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 at rack rate (no AP rate available b/c of holiday)
Jan. 2-5 at AP rate

When I booked the trip the CM told me that I could call and add the regular dining plan to this package w/out a problem. I called today and was told they would only allow me to add the dining plan to the Jan. 2-5 b/c it is an AP discount and that I would have to buy tix to get the meal plan for Dec. 31-Jan.1. That is not what the original CM told me. Is this correct?? What should I do??

I am posting this here b/c you guys are familiar the dining plan but I am also gonna post it on the resort page b/c they are familiar w/ all the packages and AP rate stuff. Thanks for any advice!

Not sure if you currently have room onlys or packages.
But it is AP packages which offer ticketless packages for passholders.
So the non-AP res you would have to buy the same type ticket for everyone in your party to make it a dining package.
If you were real lucky maybe something would open up for you to include the non-AP nights with your AP stay. But that would be just pure luck on availability.
So yes, you can add DDP with "no problem". However "no problem" does not mean "no tickets" (without it being a ticketless AP package).

If you are a AAA member, you could always see if AAA has availability for an AAA AP ticketless package for the non AP days you currently have. Most likely not at this time and it being such a busy season. But it won't hurt to ask AAA.

Well...when I talked w/ the CM they were aware that I had two packages b/c they made it that way...they said they'd have to make me two separate ressie's b/c one was an discounted rate and one wasn't but that when I called to add the dining plan, it would all become one package. See why I'm confused.

Just to clarify...I have room only ressies right now... anyone had experience w/ this before? I cannot believe that disney would turn down me paying them for two extra nights of dining plan $!

Also, wanted to quote this from WDW info though I realize it is not official Disney lingo...lol:

Annual Passholders can now add the Disney Dining Plan to their reservation. This will make the booking a package subject to the terms and conditions of those reservations. (Paid in full 45 days in advance, etc.)

Availability of the Disney Dining Plan add-on is limited and cannot be combined with any other discounts (AAA, Bounceback, etc.) It can be applied to a AP discounted room as well as one that's rack rate.

Here's the link to that page too: http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-ap.htm

to add the dining plan, it would all become one package

I think that would have been subject to availability. Like with any package or offer, there are only a set number of rooms/resorts available. If they are gone, they are gone, unless something opens up, etc.
I think the CM meant if you added those two nights onto your package. But it would basically be extending the travel dates on your package, and cancelling your room only.
A room only res and a WDTC package cannot be combined.
Think of WDTC as another travel agency. As example AAA could not add a few nights onto a DU package. You would be choosing to extend one or the other and cancelling one.

All subject to availability of course. And it was not even available when you booked. And when you called in apparently availability was still not there. Sometimes there just is not much that can be done. We would all like wide open availability. However....
