Hi all...

We have a ten year old who loves playing VMK. She's a great kid and also has Asperger's - so once she gets interested in something she _really_ gets into it. For Christmas, I'd like to give her something having to do with VMK. My idea would be to play the game myself (on a different screen name) and then surprise her with whatever tokens/prizes I earn. I am NOT familiar with the game at all (dh and I occasionally peek at her but other than that we let her play on her own).

Can anyone give me any tips as to how to get started? What can I play for that she might like? Is this even possible? I'm trying to read faq's and the like but I don't have tons of time as we're spending the last two weeks of December (including Christmas) at WDW.

Thanks for any help.

Hi! What a sweet mom you are!! princess: I love it when parents really take an interest in what their children are interested in...

Do you know if your daughter has any of the costumes that came out a couple of weeks ago? There were some princess dresses that were sold, but are not sold anymore. I have extras that I could give to you if you need them. I can also give you a code for the new space mountain guest room (you can only get his room by beating the new game that is out in Tomorrowland).

If you are going to WDW, the best present (VMK) for your daughter would be to take her on the VMK tour at the Magic Kingdom. Also, pick up the quest cards located at VMK Central (on Main Street at the Magic Kingdom also). She will be able to get tons of prizes for her character on VMK!!

Send me a pm and we can talk more specifically about what to do for your daughter. Can you log in as her character privately to take a look at what she already has in her inventory? That would give us a starting point and we could figure out where to go from there...

There are several games that give good prizes. Pirates give you an invisiblity magic pin when you win ten games on each of the three levels. Fireworks gives you the firewoks magic pin if you can score 240,000 and not come in first place. The tomorrowland arcade games gives you: Blast in space - code for full space suit and gold HKDL chair, Hyperspace Mountain - space mountain guest room code, and airlock escape - code for divers suit

It's a great idea for Christmas. I'm sure your daughter will be very surprised.
There's a thread here about the routs for airlock escape that shows pictures of how to beat it, if you have problems.
There is also an awesome guide for the Hyperspace Mountain game.
The other games just need a lot of practice.
If you have any problems at pirates, I would be happy to play on your team and help you.
There is also a sticky at the top of this forum with all the codes. If you use all the credit codes, that should give you a good start on your shopping. VMK is putting out a new hat this weekend and next, that are available only for the weekend. They might make good presents for her as well, if she is short on credit and can't buy her own.

Hi,

Start off by reading the sticky guide to the game at the top of the page. It is great and gives you lots of ins and outs to the game.

I know all about Asperger's my oldest is 17 now and has it- so if you ever need to talk feel free- chances are I have been there and done that- and even have a few tshirts :) But yes their obsessions can go whole hog can't they... VMK is a good game for an Aspie too- because it does have some social interaction involved in it- even though it isn't face to face it will help them to do the social stuff in real life.

Have you thought about getting her hooked up with the DIS kids teleporter network there is a sticky about that at the top too.

If she needs credits and she hasn't already found and used them there are many availble that can give you about 1500 points.

Hard to say what she would want without knowing what she has and what other things she likes- but most kids like just about anything and any of those items that cost a little more in the stores. I know my 7 yo is hesitent to spend any credits she gets but will do it every now and then- and I have done things like go through all the shops with her and just see what things she likes and every now and then go and buy her something new and stick it into one of her rooms and let her have fun discovering it later.

Good luck and welcome to the game- it is a lot of fun and so neat that parents and kids have fun playing the game.

Also there is another board see the link above this one at the top of the page that is a trade board- but people post wishes too. IF you find there is something she really wants and you can't find it- you may be able to find it there in trade or even as a gift.

check out the Guide at the top of the board it should help guide you though VMK.

Ask questions! we are always here to help.....Have fun and good luck in your quest for items for DD! What a great idea!

How about a theme like all Red and Green for the Holidays!

Thanks everyone. This has been a tough fall for us. We had family here for a month as they evacuated for Katrina. That alone is tough for a kid with Asperger's because we had total upheaval in our home with three additional people. And then just as they were set to go home to New Orleans my dad had a heart attack here and died - very unexpectedly. We weren't even able to have his funeral until just this past weekend due to the hurricane. VMK has been sort of a calming thing for her and I think she'd really be surprised if I could help her out with the game.

Thanks again all...

Sending Big Hugs to you...

Boy do I understand lots of what you have gone through- and I'm very sorry to hear about your father...

The storms were hard on everyone and kids with Asperger's need their routine- and we still don't have ours back yet...

Like I said if you ever need to chat I'm a PM away...

If you decide to try to win some of the prizes from the games, and find that they are a little...difficult...let me know.

I can get you the Space suit code, Space Mountain Room code, Fireworks pin, and Invisibility pin. I can also send you a coupon that you can take to WDW and redeem for a Jungle Cruise Tent room code.

Unfortunately, the only way your daughter will be able to get the diver suit is to log and win it, or for you to log in as her and win it for her. You can't trade the diver suit, so even if I won it for you, I couldn't trade it to you. However, there is a very good thread here on DIS that shows how to get through all the levels to win the diver suit, and there is a link to the thread in the players guide sticky.

Let me know if you need anything. :goodvibes

But can't you use the code on any character? I thought that was how it still works, did it change? When I first played after they removed the trade feature for it, I was able to win on a mule but use it for my main character. Is it different now. If it is the same as before, I would be happy to play the game and send the code to you.

Sorry to hear of your dad and everything else you have gone through.
Hugs & prayers to you and your family as you recover from everything.

Duh! -slaps forehead- :teeth:

You're right. I didn't even think of that. It's been so long since I've played I forgot you get a code.

So, there you go. I, or any number of people here on DIS, could get you the prizes from the games if you have any problems. :)

I haven't played in a long while either so I wasn't sure if things had changed either.

By the way, DippyDawg, I just love your signature!!!!

I wish I lived near WDW or Disneyland because I'd go do the quests and tour for her so you could give her the trading cards with codes.

One neat thing to do might be to get some free Skull Rock rooms and furnish them for her. You could do it as a different character and then use a teleporter from her own room to get there. Each room could be just one color of stuff or a room from your house or part of a maze... Creativity would be your limit.

Would she enjoy some sort of a VMK scavenger hunt? Imagine if she had a list of Dis people and their rooms and had to find them. Each of us could have a clue and/or a prize for her.

Another interesting idea would be to have her sign on to VMK at a specific time and go to her room and a bunch of us could show up making her room really popular plus we could give her gifts.

Psssst,that was a wonderful idea!:)

I also recommend doing the VMK Tour and Quests while at Disney.

I am a teacher and have had student with Asberger's and I know how much that would mean to your daughter. I also would recommend using your computer's printer and creating VMK stationery, school folders and stickers, and even T-Shirts. You can get printer transfer paper frm Wal-Mart and get some graphics from the VMK site to make a design for a shirt.

If you want, I have a link to a pdf file for a free VMK Insider tour that you get by finding hidden Mickeys in the game (finding them takes time and lots of credits).

If you find it hard to reach the top 10 list on the Jungle Cruise game, I also have a coupon for the tent room to redeem at the park.

And I also have a coupon you can have for a free glow in the dark VMK bracelet that you can redeem in the park.

If you are interested in any of these, please let me know. BTW: I'm offering these to you for free. :)
