Help! I'll be going to WDW in June with my DH, DD, and DS. I am prone to vertigo as a result of Meniere's Disease and was wondering if anyone else has this problem and if so, which rides should I avoid (like the plague!). Although I loved the Teacups as a child, I know this is now out, as is Mission: Space. I do love Roller Coasters though, and unless the spin like the teacups, I should be okay. Thanks for any suggestions you can give!

I don't have vertigo, but I know some rides to avoid because they do make me a bit dizzy. Avoid Triceratops Spin, Alladin's Magic Carpets, Astro Blaster, Primeval Whirl, Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Cinderella's Golden Carousel, and Mad Tea Party (the teacups). Some that MIGHT cause dizziness is Buzz Lightyear because it can turn around with a touch of a button (just get into a ride vehicle by yourself and don't use the button that makes you spin and you will be able to ride), Rock 'N Rollercoaster (it goes upside down and has two corkscrew turns), Goofy's Barnstormer (because it's such a short ride, there is a quick turn that might make you dizzy), and Space Mountain (it goes in a continuous circle all the way to the bottom of the ride). Those are the only ones I can remember right now. Hope this helped!:earsgirl:

I made a mistake on one of the ride. It's Astro Orbiter not Astro Blaster (I don't know where that came from LOL). I also forgot to mention there are two simulator rides that make my brother sick who has vertigo. One is at Epcot, Body Wars and the other is at MGM, Star Tours. :earsgirl:

I also have Meinere's disease, but day to day I don't usually have symptoms. Major problems when I was pregnant, flare-ups occassionally when I have a cold, etc. I do try to watch my salt intake and drink plenty of fluids. I take my meclizine with me when we travel just in case. That said, my family & I are somewhat in the daredevil category when it comes to ride. The only ride that has really bothered my is the tea cups. I've only ridden Mission Space once, it had just opened on our last trip for sneak previews & I had to try it. Surprisingly, it didn't bother me at all. But, as I said, I don't usually have symptoms. When I am having a flare-up, just walking around the park would be a challenge. I can't imagine going on a ride during those times. Good luck!

I have periodic problems with vertigo (especially from spinning motions); here was how I fared when we were at WDW in September.

I avoided the tea cups like the plague since similar rides at the county fairs have been making me ill for the last few years. I did ride Astro Orbiter and would not recommend it. I was definitely feeling the effects when we got off. :faint: I had forgotten how fast it went. I avoided Body Wars, but couldn't resist going on Star Tours. To my suprise, I was fine on Star Tours (closed my eyes in a couple of parts), so now I wish I had tried Body Wars.

We did not go on Space Mtn, Mission Space, Rock N Roll Roller Coaster because DD was too short, but I think I would have been fine on all but Mission Space. Usually roller coasters aren't too hard on me.

I rode, and was fine on, Goofy's Barnstormer, Buzz Lightyear, Dumbo, Triceratops Spin, the carousel, etc. On Aladdin's carpets, we got to going a little faster than we had on Dumbo and that did bother me a little.

So, overall, I didn't have many problems. I would just say to definitely avoid Astro Orbiter and the tea cups, of course. Have a great trip!!

I have vertigo and so far the major problem has been the cups. In the roller coasters I'm fine. I'll have to see triperatops before try it. But that cups ruin one afternoon.
