Anyone else ever have problems with this?

Yesterday at 5:00 AM my alarm went off and I turned over, the room just started spinning out of control. Got better after I got up. This morning it is a little worse. Still having some issues with it this morning if I close my eyes for a second while upright.

The last time this happened was when DH was in Fort Gordon GA for AIT. At the time I was trying to keep up with a full time job and 3 part time jobs and 2 kids, running a cub scout pack and working with our youth group. We would go to Fort Gordon about once every 5-6 weeks to see DH (a 4 hour drive) and it always occured when I got there........I think because I'd get so tense driving 285 to I20 (usually on Friday evening during rush hour traffic).

I have bouts of it.

All started about 10 years ago after a killer sinus infection. Towards the end of it, I got horrible vertigo. Doctor said I had labryinthitis that could give me problems for a year or more. It did.

Ever since, I have occasional bouts of vertigo but not that often. I just had a small attack this past weekend. I notice it happens more during allergy season. We are starting to get lots of ragweed now so I'm sure it affects my inner ear.

Funny though--my friend told me this morning that she woke up with the worst case of vertigo this morning.

I get it when my allergies are acting up. It's an inner ear thing. I know it's time to take the claritin if I wake up with it. Like a pp said, ragweed is really up around here too.

Funny, my 3rd grader just woke up this morning telling me he felt like the world was spinning round and round (he has NEVER said that before!). He has a head cold so I'm attributing it to that since he was fine the rest of the day. I will take him to the doctor if he complains about it again.

I get it now and then. The doctor said it's labyrinthitis (as someone posted above. It can be really bad for a day or two and then it goes away. It's one of those things, though, that if it's your first time or it persists you should really ask for a doctor's advice.

Could be allergies....I checked the pollen count and it is 9.4 here. I usually don't notice them so much (have become so accustomed to dealing with them) when I visited the allergist for the skin test he said, "you are allergic to something in every single season".

Maybe it's stress/anxiety?

That's what I thought could be a trigger when it was happening back in 2007/08 but my schedule is much more relaxed now. Was reading that sometimes if you have had a neck injury that can cause it........still have neck issues off and on from a wreck a couple of years ago.......somedays the muscles in my neck and upper shoulders seem to be locked up.

Thanks all! Thinking it is allergy related. If it persists or becomes worse I'll go see the doctor. Just looked it up on webmd and wow.....there are some very scary things that can be attributed to causes for vertigo.

Could be the neck thing.
I sometimes get it when I a have a sinus infection or a pretty bad allergy day.
