Versus, The Trip That Never Shoulda Happened, Update 5/2, Done!

Hello peeps just have to say I wish mom would get hurrie dup so I can post some more. Hink Hink

Tinkyellow

I just realized that I forgot to give myself a nickname. Do I need a nickname? I sign all my posts with my name, so I guess not. When I was beginning to write this trip report, my family discussed the nicknames that I had given them. No objections to any of them. Weird, huh? I told them that I didn’t give myself a nickname because I couldn’t think of any. Hagrid suggested Arni. I am not Arnold Schwarzenegger. It’s like they think I boss them around all the time. :lmao: Maybe my nickname should be Patton, as in the General.

I wanted to get up early this morning, the 5th day of our exciting trip. We got to bed “early” last night, so everyone should be ready and raring to go. Tink didn’t feel so good last night when we were winding down, so Hagrid offered to stay at the resort with her, if necessary. I got up around 7ish and got my shower. When I got out of the shower and dressed, no one else was moving. I talked to Hagrid, he was still willing to stay and rest with Tink. Tink wasn’t moving. Pluto, on the other hand, was ready to get up. Huh? He’s usually the sleep in till Mom drags him out of bed guy. I was confused, but happy to spend a morning with Pluto. I waited for him to shower and we went to have breakfast together. I got the breakfast of champions, this number:

We dropped our mugs off back at the room and we bussed over to EPCOT. We were there before the park had officially opened. Sweet! We made it through the security line. What’s up with the security check at EPCOT? It’s not that fast or organized. The ticket lines are just big globs of people, too. Could someone at Disney turn their big brain to getting people into the park so that they can spend their money faster?

Pluto and I got past the ticket turnstyles and on to the rope. We chose to go to the right because we wanted to ride Soarin’. We had about 10 minutes until the park opened. I didn’t plan to be there that early. We waited. And waited. :rolleyes1 Finally, the character caravan showed up and they slowly walked us back to the Land. We were the first ride of the day. Yes! We ran over to the other side of the park to catch Test Track. We got on that one fast, too. We did the single rider line because we didn’t care if we got to ride together, but they let us ride together for our second or third ride because the line was nonexistent. Fun! I wanted to try out Mission Space, the non-rotating version. I really like the regular version of Mission Space, but I wanted to know how they compare. Hagrid and Pluto still haven’t had a chance to experience this attraction. Pluto didn’t want to ride Mission Space, even the non-spinny side. I had to go alone. I got the Green ticket and ran into the ride. I rode with a group of 3 newbies, never been on the ride before. What a hoot! As the ride closed down on me, I felt a little panicky. :scared1: When had I gotten claustrophobic? I remembered to do my breathing exercises and finally the ride started. It was fun, but it felt like something was missing, like gravity. Everything was the same as the regular version, but no feelings of weightlessness. Weird. Next time, I’m going to risk the regular version, provided that I don’t get all freaked out by the closed-in space.

Pluto & I ducked into Innoventions West, or was it East? I can never remember which is which. It’s the one closest to Mission Space. We walked through the exhibits until we found the one about plastics. Then, something clicked off in my head. Isn’t this the place to make the robots? I’ve read about these in several trip reports. They give a short spiel about plastics in our lives and then you get to create your own virtual robot and race it against other guest’s creations. Pluto didn’t want to do the actual running. Must be too much like real life. He did help to design the robot. He has mad skillz on video games. I had to use the controller to “run” the robot. No, really, run the robot. You have a pad on the floor that you stand on to operate the robot. It was a blast! My robot came in second in the race. :cool1:

DangerousDroid0207.jpg

After the race, we got to build plastic ones to keep. I made a beautiful purple one. Pluto made a multicolored one. I broke them into pieces to that they could travel easier. Still, it made for a lumpy little slingpack. We decided to shop in Mousegears to kill off some more time until World Showcase opened. Pluto found a CD of “Nightmare Before Christmas”. He bought it and we sent our robots back to the resort with the CD. Yes! Lighten my load. After this, we moseyed over to the World Showcase.

East. As you exit you are heading north.

We've never spent much time at Innoventions. My kids are pretty young and much too interested in going on rides. Maybe over the next few years.

I am hooked on this TR Great Job:thumbsup2 Kudo's to the teen with an attitude on clearing things up:woohoo:

Chapter 10: Epicot in the rain

Off to Epcot we go. Dad and I ate at the Electric Umbrella while Mom went back to the resort with AB since he forgot his park pass. Then we saw Illuminations. Then we found out that Indiana was having a blizzard. I didn’t feel well so I drank a lot of Sprite. If I don’t feel well in the morning I get to sleep in

Chapter 11: Better
Dad and I slept in today.:cool1: When we woke up we got breakfast and stayed in the room doing whatever. Since it is Valentines Day, I handed out hearts to all the Cast Members to brighten their day up:) . By the time the room service showed up, I was getting hungry, so Dad and I went to the food court, I had a pizza and coke. When Mom came back, we went to the pool.
Mom and I rode Winnie the Pooh and watched Wishes, it is so beautiful. We got back and had a snack. Then back to bed.

Pluto & I headed over to Yakitori House for lunch. What is it with Pluto and Yakitori House? He really wanted to eat here. We try the Tempura Shrimp Udon. Ewww! The noodles looked like large eels swimming in the broth. We get some udon the next day at Mitsukoshi and it was yummy. This udon, not so much.

We walk back around World Showcase Lagoon, by way of the United Kingdom side. We see that the World Showcase Players are setting up for a show. We just have to stop. A few years ago, don’t ask how many, we watched a showing of the Christmas Carol. Hagrid got to be Bob Scratchit. Fun! Pluto remembered that.

We whoop it up and play along with the players. We still remember the secret handshake for the Knights of the Round Table. (Or, do we?) The World Showcase Players pull guests out of the audience to fill spots in the production. The gentleman playing King Arthur was a hoot! He couldn’t remember his line. How hard is it to remember “Gitchy, gitchy, ya, ya, ya.”? :rotfl: I was chosen to play the wizard Pellum. :wizard: I’m supposed to be some old hag! I’m aging right before my own eyes. Of course, this has to happen when I don’t have anyone but my non-photo taking son to record the moment. I ask the players to take a picture with me after the show is over. Of course, they agree:banana: :

Shhhh! Don’t tell Hagrid that I posted a picture of myself on the report. He said that I couldn’t post pictures of the family. Better look quick, because this picture will be the first thing to go from this report.

This is the only picture that I have of this totally fun experience. Pluto and I laughed our butts off. (Mine came back.) I really wished that Hagrid and Tink would have been there, but I guess that resting is important, too.

Pluto and I left EPCOT and saw that our bus back to the resort was waiting for us. Yay! But, it starts to pull away just as we come running up. What! The driver was messing with us. ;) We hop on and he pulls the same stunt one more time before we head back to the resort. He’s one of those friendly bus drivers that you hear about. He told us some Disney trivia, and then he had the whole bus sing Happy Birthday to me. :bday: What a wonderful thing to do. :cloud9: I had the best time on that bus that day.

When we got back to the resort, Tink and I swam and hot tubbed. Good times!

After Tink & I showered, the whole family headed over to the MK for a late afternoon of fun. We rode BTMR. Tink & I wanted to see Spectromagic bad enough to wait for it all the way over in Frontierland. We had fastpasses for Winnie the Pooh that we thought we should be able to use after the parade. The plan was to meet the boys up near the bakery to watch Wishes from there, after Spectro had passed us. I totally forgot that the parade wouldn’t be passed us with only 20 minutes to spare. :headache: We wanted to use our fastpasses for Winnie the Pooh, too. The park would be closing after Wishes, so we had to use them before. We raced over to the ride and ran through the fastpass que. Where we screeched to a halt just 3 people back from the front of the line. 15 minutes to go. Wait. Wait. Wait. 14 minutes to go. Wait. Wait. Wait. Were we going to make it before the fireworks started? Arghhh! Finally, the CM motioned that we could go. Bounce with Tigger and then run to the front of the park. We just made it to the boys when the first strains of the music started. Whew!

We headed back to the resort and had a wonderful snack at the food court, ice cream!

Marie

Sounds like fun.

Why can't you post pictures of your family?

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. :lmao:

Actually, Hagrid & I discussed it and we were worried about the kid's pictures being posted on the internet. Go figure! So, I figured that my picture is free game. I don't care if other people see me on the internet. I may be responsible for keeping the rats off the internet because of my ugly image.

Headed to MGM this morning. Gonna get us some RnR! Yeah! A good thought, but one that the folks at MGM weren’t in on. We got to catch the park opening show. Fabio was a hoot, casting for the opening of the park movie. We walked quickly back to RnR. The ride was down. How could that happen? We were so bummed. We don’t do Tower of Terror, so we had nothing else to do at this park. We headed out of the park 15 minutes after opening.

Off to AK! We waited about 15 minutes for the bus. I was starting to wonder if they didn’t run the between the parks bus until later. We finally make it over to AK and ran back to Expedition Everest. Not too much of a line. Yay! Hagrid and I jumped in the regular line. What a cool que! It’s themed like a museum exhibit for the yeti. We waited for about 15 minutes. Pluto didn’t want to ride this time. Too bad for him. :rolleyes1 After the first ride, they had the single rider line open, so we jumped in line again. Fun!

We rode Kilimanjaro Safari next, to pay back Tink for waiting. Pluto could have ridden Expedition Everest, so I didn’t feel like I owed him anything. We grabbed a snack, then headed over to EPCOT.

When we got to EPCOT, I decided to rearrange our ADR for supper so that we could eat a little earlier. We went to Guest Services. It was a very busy place. We waited. Finally, our turn came. I whipped out my Excel Spreadsheet with all my ADRs and advanced planning on it. We got our lunch moved up. Yay, Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki, earlier in the afternoon. After we finished up that, the CM noticed my weird spreadsheet. She said that it was such a cool idea that she was making me and my family honorary citizens of WDW. Sweet! I’d been seeing the buttons around all week, but I had no idea of what you had to do to get one. When we went to lunch later, we found out that the CM had moved our reservation to Marakesh. It was all good, Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki had availablility.

We got fast passes to Soarin’, rode Living with the Land. We had booked the Behind the Seeds tour before leaving home. It was a good thing we rode the ride first. We got a preview of the tour. Pluto made the comment that he hoped that we would get to see some more of the fish. Not only did we get to see the fish, we got to feed them. :cool1: Tink & I released lady bugs. We all enjoyed seeing the baby crocodiles up close.

After the tour, we raced over to Mitsukoshi Teppanyaki. That’s when we discovered the CM’s mistake. Oh, well, it all worked out. We got a nice table with 2 other couples. The cook was awesome. He explained about Japanese culture while he cooked all our food. After dinner, I got a birthday chef’s hat with Happy Birthday written in Japanese.

We had to run out of there to catch our fast pass time for Soarin’. This was Tink’s first ride. It took the entire time between trips, about 14 months, to convince her to ride. Hagrid & Tink sat in the back row, Pluto & I in the front. This ride is so much fun. I really wish they’d clean up the film. Tink loved it. Maybe this will make her feel braver about trying other rides. ::yes::

We had to catch the bus to POR to do the carriage ride. This one was a hard thing to fit in. Even on this day, it was still hard to fit in. We got Luke the horse, the same one that we had last time we did this ride. We literally ran from the bus stop to the back of the resort where the horse was waiting. We jumped in the carriage and we were off! It took a few minutes to settle in and enjoy the ride. We slowly toured POR and POFQ. Clip, clop. Clip, clop. It was a very soothing way to end our last evening of the trip.

When we finished up the carriage ride, we shopped at the POR resort shop. I lost my chef’s hat. I wasn’t sure how I was going to get it home anyway. We walked back to POFQ. It was a nice walk. The original plan called for viewing Illuminations, but we canned that. We were too beat from our day. We had supper at the Floatworks. I had Beignets. The kids are still mad at me, but it had the shortest line…

We went to bed right after Illuminations. We had to wait for the firework pops to fade.

One of my absolute FAVORITES! I don't know why I love these types of places but I do. Probably because you get to meet other people and chat. I'm kind of outgoing so I love that kind of atmosphere. I'm glad you had a good time eating there. I think I'll have to go there again on my next trip. :thumbsup2

Chapter 12:Safari
We woke up and went straight to the food court. I had a ham omelet and a coke. Then, off to Animal Kingdom. We rode Kilimanjaro Safari and I got a close up of the baby giraffe. Then off to Epcot, while my mom was rearranging our dining time she got an honorary citizen button. We went to the Land to get fast passes for Soarin, ride the Land ride, and do our tour. We were off to the Behind the Seeds Tour. There were these men who didn’t understand that she wouldn’t know everything. It got pretty stupid after a while. Then off to Mitsukoshi. Our chef was cool. I had chicken, rice, noodles, and coke. Then we rode Soarin, and then raced back to Riverside to go on our carriage ride. Then, we shopped at the resort gift shop. Then, we walked back to our resort and started the packing process. AB and I went to the arcade again. When we got back, it was time for bed. Say bye-bye to our nice warm room at WDW.

We decided to skip breakfast at the resort this morning, because we were going to be riding RnR first thing. How do I tell Hagrid that the coaster isn’t worth worrying about how full your stomach is? It’s so easy to ride. We put the finishing touches on our packing and called Bell Services to pick up the luggage. I got our boarding passes for the flight earlier, but I didn’t check the luggage at the resort. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. :headache: Why did I want to schlep the luggage through the Orlando International Airport? Next time, I’m checking the luggage at the resort.::yes::

We headed out to MGM. We got to ride RnR twice! Awesome! I bought the photo. Earlier in the trip, Pluto & I rode Expedition Everest. Pluto has his eyes closed in that picture, so I begged him to keep his eyes open for this photo. He looks so comical! His eyes look like someone taped them open. For the next ride, with no photo to be purchased, I let him keep his eyes closed.

We snagged breakfast at the ABC Commissary. Very yummy. We went to see Voyage of the Little Mermaid, to repay Tink for waiting patiently while we rode RnR. Then, we headed over to EPCOT.

LOL :lmao: Love those pix on the rides. I know exactly where they're all at and pose for them with different looks. Drives my wife crazy. She thinks I'm ruining the pictures for others riding with us who may want to purchase them.

I've never been to the ABC for breakfast. What do they have? What did you guys eat?
