DH and I don't live too far from VB and we own there, but yet we've never been there. We've heard that there is at least 1 really good restaurant there, so we are thinking of driving down for the evening to have dinner there some night. Can you guys please tell me about the dining options at VB? Thanks!

Shutters is the family-style restaurant. Sonya's is the more upscale steak & seafood restaurant. You can order off either menu.

We've only eaten at Shutters, so I can't comment on the Sonya's offerings. We've never been disappointed, but I can't really recall anything noteworthy. We prefer to relax with drinks and light snacks in the Green Cabin Room.

Well, I've booked a studio at VB for July 9th. Which restaurant should be choose...Shutters or Sonya's? We like pretty much all kinds of food :)

Seems like I remember reading that Sonya's hours have changed and are maybe limited to weekends only. I think someone who posted recently said that Sonya's was not open at all during their stay.

Sonya's is only open Thursday thru Sunday now. We were at Vero the last 10 days.

We got back from a stay at Beach Club Villas and Vero Beach. We absolutely loved Vero. We are skipping WDW next year and going straight to Vero. The only thing is...we did not like the food. The counter service "Bleachers" was overpriced and not appetizing at all. The casual restaurant, Shutters wasn't much better. I ordered white pizza, it was okay. My daughters ordered Mickey ravioli. They loved it but they only got 5 little ravioli. They both ate it in about 10 seconds flat and were still hungry. $5.99 was pretty high for 5 ravioli. My husband got the pepperoni pizza, he said it was just okay. Next year, we will eat breakfast in our room, make sandwiches for lunch and go into the neighboring towns for dinner. But, with that said...we loved everything else. Our room was wonderful, the kids activites...well the kids are still talking about it. My little one knew all the cast members names and one boy "Ollie", I believe she has her first crush! Her little eyes light up when she talks about him. So funny. Everyone was so friendly there and we were very sad to leave. :earsgirl:

I really enjoyed the white cheese pizza with fresh tomatoes, (our server recommended the tomatoes, I hadn't realized there wouldn't have been any sauce on the pizza so I'm glad she did) , but I do think that Shutter's menu wasn't varied enough for dinner. There were 4 adults in our party, and we each found something to eat, but nothing really stood out. The other 2 nights of our stay we went to Captain Hirams and that was excellent for our tastes. Shutters was fine for us for breakfast.

DH and I were at VB for two nights last month, and enjoyed our time and dining at Vero. Sonya's is the nicer of the two, which we did not try. We did eat at Shutters and thought the food was very good. I had a nut crusted fish which I loved. DH (vegetarian) had one of the interesting veggie flatbreads and a tomato & mozzerella salad. He thought they were both very good as well. We also ate there for breakfast, which was also good, but it is hard to do a bad breakfast. The restaurant has a nice view of the ocean and is a casual spot with families. The service was a little strange. It felt like they were confused. Waitresses in a different restaurant perhaps? I can't really comment on the price... I was on vacation and wasn't looking!

All the restaurants share one kitchen. This a good thing because the green room and beachers has good cooks at work for them. We had some good pool food! I have also heard that you can order off either Sonya's or Shutter's menus when dining at either of those restaurants. The down side is that the food comes from the same kitchen for all venues.

I'm a VB regular. The pizza is indeed awful. However I think you'll find the rotisserie chicken w/ citrus glaze, the pork tenderloin, steaks, and any of the fresh fish choices to be quite good. Outside of the pizza I have been very pleased with both Shutters and Sonyas. The cuban sandwich is also excellent and there are an array of good restaurants nearby.

Squid Lips is just north of Captain Hiram's and is actually built right on the water so the breeze comes right through. We ate their twice while in Vero as the seafood was a lot better than Sonya's.

Ocean Grille in Vero is also much better than Sonya's where the meat now tastes institutionalized.

I am writing a letter attached to the VB food comment card that says the food has declined in the last 5 years. I also found the service terrible. We waited for an appetizer in the Green Room for 45 minutes one day, could find our waitress for 20 minutes another day in Sonya's.

Vero is great, so I guess in the future we'll eat dinner's out every night. In the past we would eat all 7 dinners on property.

We love VB and have had a blast more than once in the lounge on the second floor (sorry...can't remember the name!) Last time we were there, the one guy who provided the entertainment was awesome.

We also love Capt Hiram's up the road but have never tried Squid Lips. That's on our list for next time. Capt Hiram's food is a "B" but the environment is what we love. If you want a casual hour or two, take one of their boat excursions. They're educational and very relaxing.

Ocean Grille does have excellent food and a really nice environment.

For pancakes in the morning, Shutter's is great. Sonya's is really more for adults. And as someone previously mentioned, the service at the VB restaurants is nothing to brag about. But who cares...relax...you're on vacation. This is the time to rest, lay back and enjoy! Life's too short to worry about "fast food" on vacation. (My humble opinion.)

Check out the sunken treasure ship info while you're in town. pirate:

We've eaten several times at Sonya's and have never been disapppointed. Good experiences at the other restaurants, too.

There is a fantastic BBQ restaurant about 5 miles north of the resort; can't recall the name, but the CM's could probably assist. Served family style.
