Trip planning for next year. Thinking about a week at BCV, finishing up with a few days at Vero. We've never been to Vero and have a few questions.

1. Wondering how it is around that time of year, i.e. crowds, weather.
2. Typically, when do the turtles hatch?
3. Other than spending time at the beach or the pool, what else is there to do there? It will be me and my 13-year-old son.
4. How are the food options? For just a few days, we won't be bringing in groceries, so will be eating out. We will have no car.
5. We love the beach. Are you able to rent chairs? My back won't tolerate laying on a towel on the sand for a long time.

Thanks for your help and patience with my newbie questions!

We are going soon too as first timers. Do you have to pay cash for loungers umbrellas etc? Or can it be charged to room

Vero is a "relaxing" resort. The resort is nice and the staff is friendly, but I wouldn't recommend anyone make this a destination in of it self. When I was there most of the food options were being rehabbed, but the green room cabin had some great seafood dishes and THE BEST VIEW of the sunset.
Entertainment is limited and Disney tries to make up for it with the pool games and trivia throughout the day. There is also a mini golf course and some nice walking trails. I think your son might like Kennedy Space center if you want to make it a day and go up there. I recommend taking a car and driving up A1A. Nice drive.
Summer is the best time for the turtles but the weather is hotter and less predictable. Springtime is my suggestion.

Exactly what we are looking for a nice relaxing beach vacation after 10 hectic days at wdw

We were just there at the beginning of July. We charged the beach rentals to the room. Food is limited and for us, a car was a must-have as my wife and I are vegan and there wasn't much at the resort.

One of the best things we did was the kayak trip, definitely recommended. Didn't get to see any manatees, but did see some dolphins and it was a very nice relaxing time.

And I was a very serious victim of the no-see-ums. I read about them and thought I was prepared, but nothing could have really prepared me. Just 30 minutes outside waiting for the pool to open and two days later my legs looked like I had chicken pox all over them. The self control not to itch them was torturous, and it lasted a good week or more. The good news is Zyrtec helped until the bites subsided.

Thanks for the great replies. We are definitely looking for some down time after the craziness of WDW. Vero seems like a great option. We're only planning to be there two nights, at most, so it'll be nice to relax on the beach part of the time. I thought we'd Uber from WDW to Vero so I don't really need a car. Sounds like we'll be able to make do with what's on site.

You can rent bicycles and there is a several mile trail ride down the ?St. John's? River (not sure that's the right name). There is a nearby pizza place that delivers but other than that, without a car you are eating at the resort. We have never loved their food/service and thought it was a little pricey for what you got.

Hi, we are just back from VB for the first time (early August for 3 nights). I can't say what it is typically like, but I can try to answer your questions based on our experience!

1 - The resort was really booked up, and I am sure the only reason we got the 3 night stay was due to a cancellation (we probably booked about 2-3 months ago). But it didn't feel really crowded, not in the resort area, nor the beach or the pool. Not that it was empty either, but no issues re: crowds. Weather was HOT. HOT. Did I say HOT? It's just really humid, and in the 90s, it felt like 100 most of the time. BUT, that makes for great beach nd swimming weather. It also is the start of tropical storm season, and we narrowly missed an impending storm or two and got lucky. Nothing serious, just more rain. That time of year pop up afternoon/evening storms are pretty typical (we only had rain the day we arrived for our entire 3 night stay).

2 - We were not in tune with all the turtle activity. I believe the tours at night or in the morning were just ending the week before we got there (so pretty much end of July). Maybe somebody else can correct me on this, again, not a turtle expert.

3 - Not much to do other than beach and pool. There are kayaks and bike rentals as others have mentioned. I did see people on kayaks, and some on jet ski's. It was much too hot to rent a bike. I wouldn't have wanted to kayak either. The ocean on the other hand was VERY refreshing. Within walking distance, there is very little else to do. But what I really liked was waking up in the morning and not having to scramble to get ready for a park opening due to all the lines, etc. It was just nice to wake up when you wake up and not feel pressed to go anywhere or do anything.

4 - Food options were so-so. Think your basic counter service place and basic sit-down place. And what they have there is expensive, especially considering you are not in the middle of WDW and local restaurants are much more affordable. We actually didn't frequent either place so I shouldn't say too much. We had a car and got breakfast and lunch groceries, then ventured to various places for dinner. Maybe consider an uber to go to Publix or making a stop on your way. It was much more inexpensive and convenient (and you can eat what you like).

5 - Yes, you are able to rent chairs as others have mentioned. We brought a blanket (small portable one from home) and used that to stake our space, and didn't rent chairs. We found that we spent about an hour, maybe 90 minutes top at the beach, then moved to the pool area. Most of the time we spent at the beach was in the ocean. It was really hot, and just sitting around lounging all day in a chair would have been a bit unbearable, unless you dipped in and out of the ocean regularly, but frolicking in the ocean was a highlight.

My DS is 12 and we enjoyed playing Pokemon Go at the resort. I know it's not of great interest to everybody but we had fun with that. Other than it's all about the beach! We were there 3 nights and that was about right.

We are here now and really enjoying our first stay in an ocean view inn room. Ate flatbreads in green cabin room for dinner tonight and it was really nice. Only real complaint is how hot the pool water is. I like a warm pool but this is borderline uncomfortable.

We've only been to VB once, and we had our own car, so this is actually for my information. Is it possible to Uber from WDW to VB? It's a good 1 1/2 to 2-hour drive, I think (we visited Kennedy Space Center on the way so took most of the day).
