My family consists of me, DH, DD 13 and DD 10. We stayed 2 nights at Vero summer 2009. We liked it very much. We stayed in a GVIR. We are considering going back next summer for the entire week. We would probably try to get an OVIR since we are low on points. I am worried that we will get bored. :confused3

Who has stayed with kids around our age? Did anyone get bored? Thanks for info!

DH and I spent a week in Vero in October. We loved it and truly relaxed and unwound.
There are many, many activities all day at the pool and Community Hall for the kids. It seemed that many were geared for the younger set, but since it was only he and I, I didn't really pay that much attention. I will say that there were many families there with children the ages of yours.
We loved the beach and spent most of our time there each day.
As we were driving home DH did say he thought our adult children would have been bored

for me it would be, but LOTS of people go to the beach for a week. If i was going to the beach for a week, I would want it to be Disney's Vero Beach Resort.

We spent a MONTH in Vero last year with kids 13 and 11. Could have stayed longer. The kids were happy happy happy, and so was I.

We were bored after 3 days. I wished we had stayed on-site at WDW and just had resort days.

For my family, a week at a beach is too long. We find that 4 - 5 nights to be the right amount of time to relax and unwind.

We have not yet been to Vero but if we do add it to one of our summer Disney trips, it would probably be for 3 nights, just enough to recoup after our time at Disney.

Good luck!

A week in the summer at VB would not work for us, it works for spring break because it's great to be outside in warm weather.

In summer we like vacations where we "do stuff", usually hiking/biking etc. So we usually go to the mountains or "up north" in Michigan.

To be honest in 5 yrs of ownership we've only used our DVC points for the October-May timeframe. Not a fan of mid FL in summer.

I'd go bananas at the beach for a week, just because I don't like the beach. I have texture issues with sand:eek: and Vero's sand isn't the soft white stuff like you find on the gulf. That said...I adore Vero. The CM's, the atmosphere, the activities, the pool, the view from an ocean view inn room...its just wonderful. We typically stay 2 nights and enjoy every second. Honestly we could stay longer and do more things in town and explore more, but we're usually trying to get back to Disney.

Vero is wonderful and so relazing. We have had some wonderful meals at Shutters - have yet to try Sonja's. I will say if you go get a pizza from Orchid Island Pizzeria. We look forward all year to their pizza - its awesome. Just across the road and down the street from Vero - you can walk there or they deliver. LOVE LOVE LOVE Orchid Island Pizza!!!

We love VB and have been there three times in August. I think a week may be too long. There are very few restaurants close to the resort and when we were there many restaurants in downtown Vero (which is about 8 miles away) were closed. There is not a life guard on the beach/ocean, I found that disconcerting.
IMHO VB pool area is gorgeous and a lot of fun on the weekends.

Ok...I'll be a voice in the woods! ;)

A week has never been long enough for us.

We have very busy hectic lives, no kids and we REALLY enjoy the semi-remote feel of the resort. We also enjoy cooking in our unit. Some day's we might sit out on the beach, most proably have been spent sitting on the balcony reading...in pure bliss for us.
VB offers all sorts of activities (so I'm told :rotfl2: )....maybe it's not enough for some, but I can think of few other places that offer such a lovely and relaxing space.

YMMV

it depends on your personality. we were there 5 nights in July, I could have stayed 2 more, easy. hubby was ready to go after 3 nights!
somepeople just don't know how to relax!:rolleyes1

ps. wish we HAD tried Orchid Pizzaria. it was our plan, but at check in they told us ALL about the great new pizza they have at the resort, much better than Disney pizza.

not true... yuK!! don't get it.

I'm right there with you DVCconvert!! We did 10 days last May and this year we are renting off site for the entire month of May
I'm sure we will go eat at Shutter's and get pizza from Orchid Island Pizza.
Can't wait!

We loved Vero also. A week was great. The only drawback we noticed was the lack of restaurants nearby. We had to drive a little bit. The restaurant at the resort was excellent.

we did 5 nights in sept and this year we will be goibng for 7. For us a week at vero will not be too long we loved it! we went up the road to the sebastain inlet and had a manatee swim right by us. We spent an entire day there. I folled starbox's report last year and I wanted to go to so many places she suggested but just ran out of time.

We have been to Vero three times in August in an OVIR.:thumbsup2 We love it there! The first time was three nights and it wasn't long enough! The following two times have been for five nights. We love to sit out on the balcony and eat our breakfast, drink our coffee and we can't forget our "Orchid Island Pizza" for dinner a time or two! We do have a car while we are there and we have done some touring. The first time we stayed at Vero we went to the Kennedy Space Center and that was really interesting!

We live about 1 1/2 hours away from the Pacific Ocean and I have to tell you...it's just not the same! Doesn't matter what time of year or how hot it is outside...the water is still freezing cold! So Vero is such a novelty for us.

We always go after we have been at WDW, so we find it completely relaxing and we do spend much of the time in the ocean, because the water is so warm!

You are going to get so many different opinions on here. Enjoy your stay! It's beautiful there and the staff is so friendly!

Just booked our 10th anniv getaway there in march - tell me what I can expect. Can't wait!!
