I just got a call from member services. I was told that we couldn't have the ocean view inn room we had reserved because of roof repair being done at the inn. We are checking in on April 17th.
We are getting a studio instead. As we all know there are no studios that face the ocean. I have been so looking forward to just sitting on our balconey watching the ocean. The member service person said that we could have a pool view. Wow, just what a want to watch a bunch of people splashing in a crowded pool instead of watching the ocean. Oh well, at least we will be near the ocean. I guess we will be spending more time on the beach and less time in our room. :sad2:

Awe....that's such a bummer. If it makes you feel any better, we stayed in a studio on our honeymoon way back in 97' and had a caddy-corner view of the ocean from our balcony. We were in one of the bldngs to the left if you're facing the ocean (sorry -- it's been so long though I don't remember the bldng.#). But anyway, even though you can't get a head on view of the ocean...you may be able to get a partial view. Hope you have a nice trip anyway though.:)

If my memory serves me correct, with a pool view you might also have an ocean view (if you're not on the first floor). The pool is just in from the ocean and the rooms that face the pool should face the ocean as well. You would have a "side" view of the ocean i.e. not facing it straight out but on an angle, but it might be worth it! You could still sit out on your balcony and see the ocean!! :)

Uh-Oh...hmmmmm. Wonder if we'll be getting the same call. We check in on the 27th of April?

My only concern is that we really wanted two beds...not a pullout for my DDs. I too would be disappointed.

However, I have to say, I never even thought Vero would still be standing after all those hurricanes. So I'm still happy to be going. As I know you are :). But I really would be bummed out.

This news has me oh so very worried - Our absolute sell on Vero in the first place was the ocean view rooms - We spend a huuuuugggge amount of time on the balcony - eating out there, spending into the wee morning hanging out there until we must go in to bed

Does anyone have any more info on how long the inn rooms will be out of commission? Since another poster said this project goes until late summer, the best side of the resort can't possibly be down that long.
We are going May 4th - anyoen think there is hope for us??

For those of you with studio experience - do they even have balconies of any substantial size? Are they covered? Need a recommendation please in case it comes down to this for us

Are the ocean view rooms facing straight at ocean or is it a side view? some hotels say ocean front for facing the ocean and ocean view for side view.

Some of the studios face the ocean though maybe not as directly as the Inn rooms. request one in a higher floor.

Some are front view, some are side view. Any room where you can stand outside and see the ocean by turning your head in any possible direction is considered an ocean room.

If you've got a studio facing the pool, on any of the uper floors, you'll probably be able to see the ocean as well. You can hang out on the green cabin room balconey, and watch the ocean. Keep yourexpectations low, so that they can be met. Enjoy Vero.

Being that the project isn't scheduled to be finished until late summer, looks like we might be moved as well. :(

At least we have a heads up on this. Thanks for posting the information.

If the oceanview inn rooms are not available, that should mean that the Green Cabin room balcony will be closed down as well - otherwise, the rooms around it would be just fine
We understand rehab, but having the main "side" of this resort down for an extended period just seems so odd

If this happens to us, I think we will try to upgrade to a 1 bedroom (probably fat chance if they are moving everyone around)

There is always the BC for those gauranteed views :))))) Sorry about your news. A view is so importnt to us as well. That is why we had to go for the BC for the 3 or possibly 4 of us. I just couldn't risk my requests not being met. They should have designed the resort so all rooms have an oceanview. Any resort that doesn't do this is missing the boat in my opinion. What is a beach vacation without those views?

I just want to point out that DVC is probably trying to get as much work completed before the new hurricane season starts. Having that "side" down for a while now, could be the work done to save lives in the future.
