Vero beach

Can anyone tell me about their experiences with Disney Vero Beach? I got a offer in my Disney Visa bill that shows a studio for $139 a night. Are there any reasonable places to eat around VB or do you have to stick to disney restaurants?

Vero Beach and Sebastian have many wonderful restaurants. The Front Desk keeps a book (actually it's in plain view right by the front desk) which lists the many restaurants in the area along with copies of their menus. They will give you driving directions (you will definitely need a car at the Vero resort). Enjoy!

Does it feel like Disney? Are there characters there? Which airport is the closest? My husband really wants a beach vacation and I love the Disney theming an attention to detail. I have so many questions.

No characters...except for maybe one breakfast during the week? We're headed to VB for the first time in April for Spring Break!

There's a Saturday character brunch. Goofy may be one of the characters, but I'm not sure.

We absolutely love VB! So much we did an add on there....it's laid back, beautiful and with all the great attention to detail that disney is so great with - the CM's are terrific and the onsite restaurants are good - so you don't need to leave - but if you do there are many really nice places about 10 minutes drive away. I guess it depends on what you love about a beach vacation - I happen to like that VB isn't over developed like a lot of Florida beach areas. It's more subtle and subdued which is what I love about it. I would suggest upgrading to an ocean view inn room over a studio if you can - they're terrific. If you have kids they'll love the pool.

KLR is right - if you can, upgrade to an Ocean View Inn room. Nothing can beat that view!

Definetly feels like Disney The CM's there are wonderful !I believe the closest airport to Vero is Melbourne. As for restuarants...Shutter's at the resort itself is very nice and has a character breakfast on Saturdays with Goofy and his son Max. You need to call the resort directly to book it, my kids really enjoyed it as did my dh and I. Been to Sonya's at the resort too but it was years ago ...remember it being very nice...it's Vero Beach resorts...nicer restaurant for more of a fine dining type dinner and I think they do a sunday brunch too.

As for offsight resturaunts ....go to Captain Hyram's it's awesome! We're definetly going back there again

Vero is a great destination, it's also very reachable from Orlando/WDW so it's easy to add on a couple of beach days to a WDW vacation to check out the resort. I would guess it's a 3 hour drive. You definately need a car at Vero.

The on site restaurants are excellent, but a little pricey. There are many good restaurants in the area, but all are a short drive away. I particularly liked Hirmana's (mexican) and Jack Baker's lobster shanty http://www.jackbakerslobstershanty.com/fl/vero.htm .

The drive from WDW is right around an hour and a half we have done it the past two years and will do it again in June.

We also love Vero... perfect place to just kick back and relax. We haven't tried the non resort restaurants (offsite) yet but I am sure we will. We just haven't wanted to leave the resort.. seemed like too much work during our lazy beach day.

Although I haven't tried it, after reading the boards for so long, I've heard that the Ocean Grill is a particular favorite.

Since our kids are now of the age to stay alone for awhile, our favorite place to eat is Sonya's. The kids don't mind hanging out in the room with some quickie kind of dinner and we love the time alone!
