I was just in Disney a few weeks ago - finally convinced my husband (after 12 yrs) to purchase DVC. I've tried to reach my guide for the last two weeks to consumate the deal but she hasn't returned my calls yet. I ended up going to a re-sale and purchased 70 points at OKW (deal still pending FROR)
before my husb changes his mind again. I know that I read about my question before but I don't know where. . . I want to add more points (obviously) and looking back at the re-sale market (since the guide still hasn't called back.) Am I wise to purchase more points at the less expensive
Vero Beach? I can get more points for the dollar there but then I thought I read that even though my home is OKW the 70 pts aren't enough to be worth considering it "home." What kind of condition is Vero in?

Hi TOUCHE, and welcome to the DISboards! :smokin:

We LOVE our Vero Beach points, and wouldn't get rid of them for the world.
With that said, we use our VB points specifically for the hard to get ressies at VB.
I wouldn't purchase points at Vero with the intention of consistently using them at WDW.
There are a couple reasons for this. One is the high maintenance fees at the Vero Beach Resort. Even if the purchase price is lower, the higher fees will eventually overtake the savings.
Another reason would be the advantage of an 11 month window at a WDW DVC Resort. Now, the odds are good that you will get in somewhere at 7 months, but if you are planning on going during a busy season it may be tough.

As far as the condition of the Vero Beach Resort, well.... it's still a Disney Resort. It is maintained in the same high Disney standards as the WDW Resorts.
It's truly a beautiful resort.

Wishing you luck with ROFR!... :smokin:

thanks for the info. Is Vero someplace for my two older teens (17 & 19) or a get away for myself and friends?
Should I purchase points at several different places? I've always been fond of OKW. The extra years at Saratoga doesn't really matter since my family is "older" now.

In my opinion I would build up your points at OKW. You can always book & stay at Vero. My home resort is Beach Club Villas and I have booked Vero for the end of July.

To make booking easier and less of a hassle buy more points at OKW with the same use year. What is your use year? March? June? Whatever it is, look for points using the same year.

Also, look at the point charts on this web site. You may be able to stay in a Vero villa for 29-points a night during the week. But a Friday or Saturday might run you 72-points a night depending on the time of year and room size.

The previous poster is correct. Vero is a great resort, but their annual fees and taxes might eat up possible savings. Also, consider possible financing as a way to purchase a total of 225 points so you can vacation every year.

Just my humble opinion. Enjoy your future vacations. :thumbsup2
