We are considering doing a split stay with one resort being vero beach. The question is does the magical express take you to Vero from the airport, and is there Disney tran
Vero Beach is approximately 2 hours from Orlando. I would imagine you could hire a car to take you there, but it would be costly.
There is also not much within walking distance of the DVC resort there. It is definitely a place you would want your own vehicle for all but the shortest of stays. We were just there for 4 nights in July and we left the resort daily for meals, grocery etc.
You typically need a car at Vero, unless you plan to eat all your meals onsite. Would be nice if they had transportation available as they do from Disney Resorts to the Port for the Disney Cruiseline!
We have done a spilt stay twice. One time it was OKW, VB, cruise on DCL and back to OKW. Then, SSR and VB, both time we flew into MCO and rented car. The 2nd trip we took Magical Express to SSR, then when it was time to head out to VB, we took Magical Express back to airport and picked up the rental car, since we did not need one while at SSR.
The drive is very easy about 2hours. We haven’t been to VB since they revamped the dining. But both times we ate at resort mostly and went out to dinner just one night. Both times we were at VB for 4 nights.
VB resort is north of Vero Beach in Sebastian, FL. The area is pretty quiet.
I had the same question for an upcoming trip and was told exactly what was said above I'll just add one thing. Our plan is VB followed by WDW, so we're going to rent a car at MCO to get to VB. I called to ask if we can still do DME after we return the rental car to MCO, since you need a flight number to book online. They said no problem. Just go to the DME desk after you drop off the car and they'll still take you and luggage to WDW free of charge. No reservation needed. Just be sure to reserve for the trip back to MCO after your WDW trip.
